Such a great experience! I cannot say enough great things. We went and saw A Charlie Brown Christmas and it was perfect ! The actors and actresses were spot on and it was so fun and interactive for the kids to enjoy. The staff that helped pass out flyers and scan tickets were all so friendly and overall it was a wonderful experience. It's a great way to support the Dallas community. Loved ! We went here for Circus Metropolis and had a great time. The production is perfect for kids--a variety of acts to keep them interested. We saw juggling, magic, acrobatics, playing with giant soap bubbles, and tap dancing. The whole show lasted just over an hour, which is just right for kids. The "adult stuff" was well-organized: buy tickets online, check in upon entry, seating is general admission. Tons of free parking. Seats were comfortable. It was Covid time so you could not take pictures with the clowns or performers after the show but they said that they would send by email a photo of everyone. Overall, it's a great way to spend part of a weekend afternoon. read more

First timer along with my daughter we came to see the island of the Skog and for our first play it was wonderful! It was pretty similar to the book which was great! We came here for the Hungry Caterpillar play. The interaction started a few weeks prior as I purchased tickets online. The website interface was decent and the ticket fees were not too high. I was sent the tickets via email and although I did not print them, they said it was okay and ended up just scanning them at the door. The parking lot is ample and we had no problems. We arrived early on the day of the show to enjoy the crafts they had going and the lobby was themed for the show, including a gift shop. There was a line for non-season ticket holders and I was in that most of the time as the seats were first come first serve by section. There really is no bad seat anywhere and everyone was nice about everything. Afterwards, the actors and characters were in the lobby for pictures and meet and greets. read more

What a gem of a theatre. Took our five year old to see a puppet show of Jack and the Beanstalk and it rocked! My normally fidgety five year old was absolutely still and riveted the entire show. Just an hour which is perfect for the younger age group and us fidgety fifty seven year olds too! Ha! Clean, modern, efficient, reasonable, and welcoming theatre structure was perfect! No wonder it was a sell out. Purchase tickets online with n advance. You won't regret it one bit. Plus after the show all the puppeteers came out to explain how the puppets are controlled and a brief history of puppeteering and then a Q and A for the children. We will be back next time we visit Dallas I suspect. read more

We are so blessed to have a theater of this quality in Dallas. Our child is autistic, and so we usually attend the Sensory Friendly performances that are held once each play. They have crafts or face-painting ahead of time for the kids before the performance. Our child is always greeted with a smile and a welcome. The plays are just fantastic!! We've seen them all for the last couple of year from The Hungry Caterpillar to Charlie Brown. My favorite was The Incredible Journey of Edward Tulane. The plays are excellently done - from the sets to the music to the acting. This place is a treasure. read more

As a single mom these people not only do a great job but totally understand the hustle of single mom life. As long as I let them know in advance who can do pick up they are great. Their teaching is fun and my daughter definitely learns skills she wasn't as honed in before. read more

I have only been here for one show- but after the experience I can promise we will be back! My son and I had such a great time at the premiere of Jackie and Me. The staff was great and did their best to make sure everyone had a great time. The set for the play was well done and looked great. The actors themselves were very good. The festivities also included giving away baseball stress relievers, a Jackie Robinson patch, free pizza at intermission, and Kevin Mench signing autographs. They really went the extra mile to make sure each and every patron had a great experience-and there efforts were rewarded by a lot of people promising returns for the next production. We have seen several shows at Dallas Children's Theater and are always impressed the the production quality. The actors are always top notch, singing and choreography always fun, sets great and creative, and not a bad seat in the house. Seats are good sized and every seat has a great view, even the cheaper top seats. I would definitely recommend taking your kids to see a show. Prices are good. read more

We have only been here once for a production of Fancy Nancy. I was very impressed with the quality of the actors and how appropriate everything was for even young children. I have been here 3 times in the last 12 months. I have taken my 5 year old and 3 year old to the live acting plays, not the puppet shows. Shows: The three shows I've seen were so well performed and produced. The sets and costumes were professionally made. My children and I enjoyed the shows. The quality of the shows were a value for the price. I would attend more shows here and recommend it. I saw 1. Giggle, Giggle, Quack (2011) 2. La Madeliene (2011) 3. Diary of a Worm, a Spider & a Fly (2012) Staff: Everyone is so nice and helpful. They are very patient with children. Seating: Seats are cloth upholstered cushioned seats. The seats are the typical theatre seats, the cushioned seat flips up and the arm rests are permanently positioned. The seats are clean and well maintained. There is not a bad seat in the house-- no obstructions and no weird angles. The only problem is that the height between rows are short (read: no stadium seating). This makes sense for the little kiddos to go up and down the stairs easily, but when the children are in their seats, their view is easily obstructed if a tall adult or someone with a big head sits in front of the children. Puppet shows are held in a different part of the theatre so I'm not sure what the seating is like there. Concessions: They have snacks available during intermissions. Single serving beverages from bottled water to a selection of soda are available. They have candy (eg. M&Ms, starbursts, etc.) and some more healthy snacks like trail mix and crackers with peanut butter. All are reasonably priced. Be aware that they have limited quantities of any particular thing, so if you watch a kid take the last bag of M&Ms off the counter as you wait in line, they are completely out. Just speaking from experience over multiple visits. Restrooms: Clean. No family restroom where you can formally mix boys and girls, but everyone who goes there is family so I don't think anyone cares. There are step stools in the women's restroom in front of the sinks for the little independent kids who want to wash their hands. Parking: Free Tip: If your child is celebrating that month, tell a staff member during intermission and give them your child's name. When the audience returns from intermission, they will call the children with a birthday up to the front and the audience sings Happy Birthday to them. read more

Over the past few years we have taken our granddaughter to several wonderful productions at the Dallas Children's Theater. We have not once been disappointed; indeed we have always left feeling inspired. On December 30, 2017, we took the granddaughter who had just turned 12 on Christmas Day to see Cirque Joyeaux. What an incredible experience for all of us and all who were there. It was truly a joy to watch the performers and to also see the responses of kids of all ages (we include ourselves, in our 70's, in that age group, by the way). We are already planning to take a larger group of family members next year! THANKS for all you do to enhance the appreciation of the arts in our city. read more

I have never been to the Dallas Childrens Theater even though it's right up the street. We went to a circus Friday night called Charivari. It was surprisingly awesome! The theater is small so there really isn't a bad seat and the kids just loved the show. When we walked in there were people doing acts in the reception area, even a girl offering up some fairy dust. Super cute. My daughter enjoyed the show so much that at the end, she just HAD to go see one of the funny guys and get their autograph. She is very proud of her autograph and it just made our night that the performers stood out front to meet the children. What a neat show and neat experience. Highly recommend! read more

My little one has been going there for two years doing the beginner classes. She enjoys them and the plays are always fun for the G-Parents. At the end of every semester I give her the option of not going next term, but this has become her favorite activity. She dropped soccer and swimming because she has more fun here. We took our 5 year old and his friend to see "Twas the Night Before Christmas." The boys were riveted throughout the entire performance. The mix of music, dance, and a good easy to follow story was perfectly balanced. The stage set was beautifully done and the cast did a magnificent job performing both the music and the dialogue. It is so good to be able to expose our children to the theatre arts at a young age, and we are fortunate to have such a high quality theatre company in our community. We regularly attended with our older children years ago, and as good as DCT was then, I think they are even better today. I would encourage all parents to switch off the video games for an afternoon or evening and attend one of the performances. read more

We attended the Dallas Childrens Theater for a dance recital and the staff and owner was extremely rude. As a dance mom, I had to stay back stage to help with costume changes. However, I had to walk one of my children / dancers to the auditorium before the show started to talk to my husband. The door staff wouldn't let me enter because I didn't have the ticket to present (because I gave it to my husband) and were not very nice about it. I had to walk into the auditorium using the side door from backstage, but since I forgot my badge in the dressing room the owner didn't want to let me back OUT of the auditorium to the backstage. During the show, I came out from the backstage door to watch my child perform on stage (after I lined her up for her number) and so I stood right there by the exit aisle to quickly watch. The manager told me I had to go find a seat because I was creating a fire hazard. First of all, I don't think I'd be standing there if a fire broke out; pretty sure I would run and be the first out the door. Second of all, I wouldn't have minded being asked to find a seat IF he had asked nicely. He was extremely rude in the way he spoke to me and even pointed out the fact he was the owner and he makes the rules. Not a very friendly place when it comes to dealing with the staff. read more
