When you arrive you'll want to allow time to get through security/ticketing. Walking in you'll feel like you've been transported in time to an old Hollywood-style regal and lavish theatre. We sat on the upper level for this concert. Luckily the seats were pretty open on our row but may be a bit tight if you are sitting next to someone. This theatre is iconic and definitely worth stopping by for a show at least once.

There were food trucks, live music from local artists (@qiyahabdul did her thingI am now a fan!!), Local Black Business Vendors, live drumming workshop, black art exhibit for the Echoes of Black Sound and No Walls Between Us an exhibit showcasing artists who traveled to Africa to explore connection and culture. It was HOT But, it was a great turnout! I'm glad I got to make it out!! I enjoyed myself!!! Staff accompanied us in the elevator to our respective floor. This show had signature drinks and concessions near the elevators. There's a restroom on the floor with the stage. Blackbox feel. The show we caught felt like an alt-comedy production out of Chicago. So grand! There's street and lot parking. Keep in mind, it's downtown so mind the local signs. Hubby & I attended the critically acclaimed production of, "Hedwig and The Angry Inch" Friday night, 03/07/15, to see my daughters boyfriend, who is playing in "The Angry Inch" Rock Band. WOW......the band / music is amazing! Robert Rain, as Hedwig, and Jenine Galante, as Yitzhak, both give captivating performances! The story is sad, yet some parts are unexpectedly funny, as told by Hedwig Schmidt. The theatre was Rockin', the audience was singing and really involved in this play. Again, I really like this venue and hope to see more plays / productions here! The Margo Jones / Magnolia Lounge is truly a Dallas Icon, as was Margo Jones, herself! Per Wikipedia: ***Margo Jones (December 12, 1911 - July 24, 1955) , was an influential American stage director and producer best known for launching the American regional theater movement and for introducing the theater-in-the-round concept in Dallas, Texas. It's so wonderful to do something different on a Friday night and support local artists. From what…read moreI can gather each show is a little different? We went with past Friday. The "magic parlor" is in a space on Exposition near Fair Park. There's street parking or a couple of paid lots if the street is full. The space is pretty small, but didn't feel cramped with 50 or so guests. I booked my ticket online for $20 through Prekindle. You can also pay another $10 to reserve seats in the front two rows. We strolled in and they checked us in. Seats were first come first serve so we were in the very back. My friend brought in his cooler of booze, but I also noticed there were a few free bottles of wine at the front and some bottle water. Very nice! David Jessup a local comedian opened the show and was the MC all night between acts with the help of Audrey Grace who opened and closed the curtains and held up the applause sign when David was bombing (haha). There were a couple of burlesque dancers at this show. One, Bethany Summersizzle, danced a few times. The other, Jai Le Bait did crazy stunts like swallow a knife! Confetti Eddie is the main performer and he reminded me of the old timey black and white movies where the folks didn't talk. He was so cute and charming. He did a few corny magic tricks that were still very fun to watch! Popper Zander was on hand this Friday night and played a few songs of her own that went well the night's burlesque/side show theme. Overall we had such a fun night. It's kind of awesome turning your cell phone off for an hour or so and enjoying a show with live performers. Both were very good and the tricks were fun. The venue is very intimate and had only seats 50 or so - which meant that virtually all of the audience had the chance to participate in the show at some point. The show itself had several acts along with two musical interludes from the Wild Natives (who were also quite good). Afterwards the performers invite the audience for drinks at one of the bars close by. We had a great time and would recommend it.

The event was held at a hotel downtown Dallas in one of the conference rooms. The event had a cash bar (cocktails and beer), and a four course meal. There were pass hors d'oeuvres before the event began. Once you were seated at your assigned table, they began the meal with a salad. The croutons were stale. I didn't touch my salad after a few bites. For the entree, we had a choice between fish or chicken, so my fiancé and I ordered one of each. For our event, the option was a grilled salmon with a side of broccolini, or grilled chicken breast with a side of house potatoes. Overall, the entrees were better than expected, but nothing to really rave about. For dessert, they sliced up 4 different types of cakes for each person to sample. They were pretty standard. The venue had valet parking, but you can find a spot via SpotHero to self park. The men and women ("detectives") leading the mystery hunt made the whole night enjoyable! This is a PG-13 event and there were some inappropriate jokes tossed round. We laughed so much, and got to meet a lot of nice people! FYI, you will need to get out of your seat to "interrogate" the people in the room to try to figure out who the "killer" is. There are actors and actresses hidden within the audience, which made it so much more fun!

The theatre is located in the basement of a loft apartment complex. You have to go through the main doors and the. Take the elevator or the stairs downstairs to the basement. They have wine and beer and small snack items. The bartenders were really friendly and did a great job. Make sure to tip! We saw the play Tomorrow Come Today. I loved the play and the theater was really intimate. This was a great show. I can't wait to come back!

Carla bought us 2 tickets to see "The Dog Problem" at the Undermain Theatre, so we headed that way on a weekday night. I have passed by this building on Main Street a million times, but never knew that a this place was underneath (and it's literally underneath Main, in the basement...hence the name). When we walked into the theatre, it wasn't at all as I expected. It was a "theatre in the round", the seats surround the actual stage. It was quite small and intimate, which added an awesome feel to the play. The actors literally were right in front, to the side, and behind you throughout the program. They have a place to purchase refreshments before and during intermission. There was a nice wine selection, and they were giving out free wine samples on that night as well (free is always good!). The acting was good, the story was good (if you get a chance to see this particular play, go for it!), and the atmosphere was great! It was a positive experience, and it has convinced a theatre-avoider like me to venture out and see more plays in the future. (I will still need a lot of convincing to go to a musical) If you are looking to do something different, going to the Undermain for a date would be a nice change of pace!

However, without compromise. Seating only 750 patrons,there's not a bad seat in the house. Acoustics are almost perfect, comfortable seats,easy parking. I can't say enough good things about this space. Problem is,Dallas has so many venues, getting back here may take awhile. Obviously Jon Andersons peeps did their homework on selecting this auditorium to showcase Jon's skills,still viable at 80 years old! His singing and music still thrills after decades. An interesting aside. As a young man,I saw him with Yes just down the street in 1972! That would have made him 27! Here we are 53 years later and he's singing not only classic Yes Hits but very good recent music he has written. If you get a chance,check out Moody Performance Hall,you won't be sorry. Go!
