These changes have (mostly) been for the BETTER. My child has been here since the doors opened (before the students were even learning in the big, beautiful building). While that first semester in the temporary location was tough, we are very glad that we stuck it out. The 2nd and 3rd year were amazing. COVID was a struggle, but ILTexas teachers continued to teach online EVERY day. Not just quick weekly Zoom meetings like all of the surrounding ISDs did...they were there EVERY SINGLE DAY (1/2 day for the little ones so as not to keep them on the computers too long and full days with the older students. They were there until the end of the 2020 school year and even did virtual summer school. A few years ago, there was a lot of changes in administration (Principals and Assistant Principals), which was followed by a lot of teacher changes, as well. Again, glad we stuck it out because the new Principal has really changed the school around! They even got a handful of new international teachers from the Philippines last year. At school events, they all seem so happy and excited to be there. I will be sad when my child goes to the high school because this place really has been home since 2016-2017.

When I attended the…read moreNorth Richland Hills location In 2023, at the age of 16, I was sexually harassed by a staff member Mr.Richardson, which caused me anxiety and to ultimately drop out of school. I know he targeted me because of my known fragile mental state at the time. I later told other staff members about my experience and the only thing I was told is "That's why he's gone now!" in a plea for them to get me to come back to their school. I can't speak for the current staff, but when I attended this school I was not protected.

I transferred out in High School and found that every other school in this area is better than this cesspool of toxicity. First of all, faculty here is horrible. I would say 10% of them are decent people, 70% are rude and incompetent, and 20% are EVIL PEOPLE who should NOT be let around/allowed to work around kids. Over my time at the school, there was multiple issues with discriminatory teachers (who chose to belittle children off of race, gender, religion, etc.) and teachers who had questionable actions towards students. All of these issues get swept under the rug, of course, because the Oakridge way is to never take accountability for their wrongdoings and push it onto the child somehow. Any problem with faculty is dismissed by Admin, and if something of severe consequence happens to your kid, good luck getting anything fixed. I had many horrid experiences with teachers, as did a lot of my classmates (to the severity of which any other school would fire them for) and the school always conveniently managed to find an excuse or spin it to where it was on the kid. This was a common occurrence for a lot of students; more than just me. The Headmaster as of right now, Mr. Burgy, really cares about the kids at the school, but the board (filled of people who get free tuition and haven't been enrolled in 10-20 years) severely limits and hinders any meaningful and good progress in the institution. The board is the one pulling the strings behind Oakridge, and that's the biggest issue. They don't spend any time on campus to learn about issues, and instead go off of their outdated experiences. The students aren't much better either. Lots of bullying and hurt took place here, but that's the environment the school breeds. The school claims to care about bullying, yet when I was getting death threats and cyberbullied online, they wanted to turn a blind eye. (I've yet to determine if it was because one of the bullies was a teacher's kid, or just negligence like previous bullying instances with other students.) Seriously, save your kid's mental wellbeing and your pocket from endless therapy bills by avoiding this place. If you don't listen to anyone else, listen to me, someone who lived this school for 13 years; who grew up here, and was discarded and treated like trash.

First off, the front office ladies are extremely rude, especially to students. I've seen then…read morefirsthand give my daughter attitude but then be completely nice to me and other parents. They do not know how to treat children and should never be involved in education. Secondly, in the previous school year my children told me about a bug infestation that lasted about three weeks. Th small roaches would surround lockers and even bathrooms. Additionally, large roaches would crawl out of water fountains that students often drank out of. Everything is unsanitary and they do not care about student safety and health. The lunch is really bad as well. I've heard cases of spoiled milk, apples that are green inside, and slightly raw meat. Although packed lunch can solve this, not everyone can afford packed lunches and this school should know to properly nourish students. The school has no preparation for sports and is only focused on STEM, which isn't bad but students do not get enough movement after grade ninth. The principal is rude and took off the senior ceiling tile portraits after calling them ugly, but labeled them as "flammable". He also does not know how to speak to children and has a nasty attitude. Other Harmony schools are not like this, only this one that is too small and horrible.
