I really love the simplicity and bit of history that the school house offers Bedford!…read more The OBSH sits nestled behind a large open field off of old Bedford Road. The field is home to Twilight Thursdays, Bedford's own little spring concert series, and to the huge Bedford Christmas tree. More informally its my girls and I's secret spot for exploring and Ice Cream on Friday afternoon's when my 3 year old gets out of preschool. I love that they can run, collect rocks and lady bugs, climb large rocks, and dig in the dirt road (Don't worry! We always put it back!) and be safely away from traffic off of the road. I can sit on a picnic blanket and watch and not have to worry about my kids falling off of a some large plastic playground, or getting run over by a car! My only suggestion, especially for twilight Thursdays, is that those fire ant hills are crazy! I got bit several times last season.. yikes! The school house itself is classic, and is like a last piece of country history in a city that becomes more suburban and built up every day. You can see pictures from the its glory days, look at a traditional one room school house set up, attend a murder mystery dinner, or rent one of their different rooms for meetings, or the entire building for a wedding. The last time my girls and I were there, my little one had to go to the bathroom and there was a wedding set-up going on, so we were able to sneak in (with permission!) and use the restroom. The set up was adorable...a PERFECT wedding venue. If I had known this place was available back in the day when I was married, I totally would have chosen it! The wooden stair case and old beams and windows make for great photo ops! I have also attended a 50th birthday celebration here a few years back! There was plenty room for a buffet, a bar, tons of guests and a live band.. totally fun! Last year we went to the school house to take some christmas pictures, and ending up choosing one with the school house in the background for our card! We also took some family photos here last weekend... out back they have bluebonnets, and some great stairs for backdrops. ....I am kind of sad I am writing this review, because now everyone will know my secret hiding spot in HEB for pictures, parties and play! :)

This review is specifically for the testing center/ building…read more I came here for a scheduled exam that I arranged online. I had never heard of the place, but it was the closest alternative testing center (since the big ones are closed due to COVID) available for the date I needed. I was crossing my fingers that it wasn't bootleg. When I arrived my GPS took me to the wrong suite. Shoot! Good thing I was early. Every door I tried to enter was locked. Gratefully there was a sign on tone of the locked doors informing that the testing entrance was 2 buildings down (very close). I quickly drove over to the adjacent parking lot. Whew! Like another reviewer mentioned, it looks a little sketchy on the outside. You can't see in and the neighborhood surrounding looks aged. Don't let that deter you though! The door was unlocked at the testing building. Yes! I entered and was immediately relieved and at peace that everything was very clean (ain't nobody trying to get COVID), organized, and the staff was professional (always appreciated). They offered me a locker with lock and key to store my items before entering the testing room. I was able to use the restroom, and given instructions on how the process would work. They gave me laminated scratch paper and a dry erase marker for taking notes, as well as ear plugs! All these caring details relaxed me so much before my test. The room had about 12-14 stations with computers and there was only one other person testing the day that I came. Even that was a relief! I would absolutely return if I ever had to test again. Let's hope I don't!! If you like a small space with little to no other testers present, this might be a sweet spot for you. In my opinion they offer a wonderful little structured environment that helps subside any pre-testing jitters.

My one year old is so excited to get to school everyday and runs right for his teacher. He is always happy when I pick him up at the end of the day.

The session gave me a clear picture of where my strengths are and what I need to refine next. We worked through transitions, pacing, and confirmation levels in a way that pushed both speed and accountability, and the coaching was thoughtful without being overwhelming. I especially appreciated how adaptable the training was. I brought several different platforms and ran iron sights intentionally, and the instructor met me exactly where I was focusing on fundamentals, body mechanics, and efficiency instead of forcing a one-size-fits-all approach. If you want someone who blends technical knowledge with practical application and creates a professional, positive environment, I highly recommend training here with Grant. Great communication, great energy on the range, and I walked away with clear, actionable homework to keep improving.

I have a grandson who came for a visit from another state and wanted to get some firearms training…read morein preparation for applying for a law enforcement position. Grant was able to accommodate the short timeframe we had and did an exceptional job of planning hybrid training sessions covering the handgun, holster and rifle used by the law enforcement agency to which my grandson is applying. Best safety practices were emphasized along with plenty of humor to make the training enjoyable. If you don't mind the drive to near Waxahachie, your time will be well-rewarded with a true professional providing your training.
