Many schools suffer from parking lots way too small for the crowds they handle, but there was plenty of parking here. Entering in I was also impressed with the security at the stadium. They were doing checks and still keeping the crowd moving. The stadium itself is pretty basic. More than a stadium it is a football field with bleachers and a track around it. Maybe I am spoiled in Texas, but I expected something a bit more grand. Our game was called for lightening, and there really was lightning, yet when we were leaving the marching band was still practicing in the parking lot. I am concerned that safety for the band was not a higher priority. For the stadium and parking, and the security, this would be about a 3.5, but I can't get over a game being called and the band still practicing. I am not sure whether it was a communication delay or mishap, or willful negligence, but neither is good. Review #2087

In fact the routine of wearing a uniform actually helped with his organization skills. We could not be any happier. The student to teacher ratio is ideal; on average, there are about 10 kids in each class. His previous school had 800 students in his whole class. At Newman, he has about 60 students in his entire class. Newman really is private school experience without the expense. Teachers are very genuine; it's really about the kids. My son's GPA went from 2.3 to a 3.4. He is involved in sports just as he was at his previous school with the exception that he is actually being coached. It's refreshing.

I am on the baseball team, they made us buy all of our equipment, which is understandable. But all they gave us is the hats and almost all of the games and practices got canceled. We played 4 games the entire season, and on top of that, they never told us the price or even mentioned a price for joining the team. So one day my mom gets a notification saying that $350 dollars has been added to my monthly tuition payment, and I had already been on the team for over a month. After this season I'm never doing Burton sports again, but other than that, the school is amazing. Also the science teacher, Ms. Hall, is awesome and classes are so fun (see video below)!

They only allow their uniforms they sell through their website and this includes jackets and hoodies. And yes the clothing is expensive. It also seems that nearly every week they are asking for more money for something. Continuous money requirements. We already pay over $500 a month. They also do not have a certified school nurse on site at all. They claim that they have a doctor there but we cannot and have not seen their office of medical assistance. They also claim to have security on site but again non can be seen. The school is not gated which is not horrible but without constant security the school is open to pretty much whatever. The facilities are an old church a trailer house. A warehouse turned gym and classrooms, and a few old business buildings that are surrounded and connected to a neighborhood and more businesses. No "private" about this school in any form.
