He was referred to me so I took the people at their word. I was having a problem with water coming into my office from my lanai door. After his evaluation, he said the "flashings" did not come down far enough to cover and protect the lanai roof. He also repaired the bottom of my lanai door frame, which is where the water was coming from. Back to the flashings...so he installed flashing on roof with the hopes it would stop the water coming in from the bottom and that cost me $1350. It did, however, now there was a leak coming from the lanai ceiling, which wasn't before. When it rained, I videoed the water coming down and sent the video to him...he came back and took a look and said he saw nothing and if he were to come out again he would have to charge me. Well, it rained and i sent another video and this time, no response...however i was notified he read the text. I texted him again to tell him I contacted White aluminum, the company who did my lanai to begin with and they would come out and see if they could fix my problem. THAT text he responded to by saying " I did not get your text yesterday, my fault". Well, today they come out, IMMEDIATELY identify where the leak is coming from and says" get Dan back out here because he did a terrible job"...then proceeds to show me pics of a hole(which is where the water is coming from), exposed nails, and the side of the flashing that he was able to lift up(which he wasn't supposed to be able to do). Needless to say, he pulled up all of Dan's work, installed a new flashing that was securely placed under the shingles(at least 3 rows up), corked up any open spaces around my door frame and fixed a few things with the lanai frame...all for $200. I texted Dan with photos and explained what was explained to me, he READ it and hasn't responded with an " Im sorry" or nothing. I am very disappointed and feel like he took advantage of me not really knowing what was going on. But lesson learned never to be forgotten. read more

We contracted Dan the Handyman to install a shower door in our just completed tile shower. Dan came and looked at the installation a couple of weeks prior and was given printed instructions from the manufacturer. On August 29, 2025 Dan and his helper arrived to install the shower door. He did not have the correct size or type of carbide drill bit to accommodate the anchors supplied with the door. He mis-drilled many holes and installed the shower door no where near plumb or square, with a lot of extra holes exposed. When confronted about the installation, he said he had insurance and would make it right. We had a phone conversation with Dan on September 2, 2025 and he asked for an amount we are seeking. To be fair to both parties we told him that we would attempt to get the tile replaced on a time and materials basis. He has since ghosted us with no further contact. Dan has no skills or integrity. I would not recommend him to anyone. He came to my house to give me a quote and we agreed on the price. He promised he had an experienced older man that knew what he was doing along with "a kid" he just hired cause no one else wanted to work but he could help lift. The job was to install a storm door, grease and tighten my garage door, so it didn't make as much noise, and fix a bike I had assembled for Christmas. The two guys came out and it was evident very quickly that he didn't know what he was doing. He could not install the door and had to call someone to try to figure out how to do it. I actually told him how I thought it would work, the person he called confirmed my thoughts. He told me he had to come back the next day to finish but would do the garage and bike that day. He then proceeded to WD-40 the garage door( legit, give me a break, that I could have done) he didn't tighten anything. He tried to fix the bike but was also incapable and blamed the original assembler. The problem is that Dan said he could fix it and he could not. He didn't know what he was doing and I had to take it to a bike repair shop to have fixed. He demanded a partial payment that day of $50, which is not what I was told by Dan or planned on until the job was done but since he was coming back the next day to do the door I paid, also just to get rid of them. He told me Dan would call me that day, he didn't but then next morning he called to tell me the job was going to be $75 more, not counting the extorted $50 from the day before. I, of course didn't agree and told him to forget it. I then paid Lowe's to install the door, professionally. Remember, Dan came and looked at the job prior and the door that was to be installed was there so nothing should have been a surprise on the install, that's the whole reason he came out before we agreed on the project price before they started, he reneged. As a side note I didn't appreciate hearing how he couldn't get anyone to work for him, no wonder, and that if I wanted someone cheaper I coild find a Mexican crew because they would work for less. Wtf? Why would a "professional" make such comments or assumptions when speaking to a customer. I hated every part of dealing with him. read more

I would NOT recommend Dan the handyman for any intricate electrical projects on older mobile homes. I will not give even one star.

Great service and affordable price. Came to fix several sections of our privacy fence that had fallen down. I also saw the men walk along the whole fence line to make sure nothing else was loose. They answer their phones, keep timely appointments and provide quality service. Even called ahead with a reminder. read more

As we are new to the area we called Dan the Handy Man based on his newspaper advertisement. We had a few small items and we wanted one wall to be painted inside. In addition Dan was going to get me as quote on a potential bathroom project. Dan sent two men to do the work. The one man who was responsible for the painting did the worst job. He got the new color paint on part of the wall with the other color. This could have been avoided by properly taping off the area or simply paying attention and wiping off the wall when the new paint color of paint dropped/ran into the old color. He was responsible for painting two bathroom door jams and patching/paint a couple of other door jams where they had been banged up when we were moving in. On the two bathroom doors he did put one coat of paint but just looking at the results it is clear they needed two coats. On the other banged up door jams he did nothing! There was no issue with the other worker as he worked on different items. Dan himself promised on three different occasions the he would "get back to me today" with a quote on the potential bathroom project. He never did! I will admit I made a big mistake when they told me the work was completed. I did not double check to see if it was done correctly. The other mistake I made was to give a tip to the two workers without checking their work. This was my fault because we had a handyman back home who we have work with for about 18 years. As we could always trust his quality of work we did not check Dan's work, also if he told me he would get back to me (for any reason) he did. In additional my handyman would have done twice as good a job at half the price. read more
