As a single female senior citizen, I requested service from Tom Quinn. He charged me 400 dollars to put Up 2 curtain rods and assemble a small tv stand and a bed post. When I asked him his hourly rate he stated he charged by the project. He was unorganized and took several phone calls when at my condo. I was shocked at the cost and he would not compromise on the price of 4 items assembled. He only took Zelle or cash. My bank blocked the transfer due to his company and was protecting my bank account. I had to have them release the money and he was paid after harassing texts . Please if you are a single female moving to the villages area. Do not use his services. I called several handyman services and they said I got taken, do your research! The only good thing I can say about Tom is that he was quick to respond to my first message and showed up to inspect my irrigation situation. He was to reroute my irrigation around a new patio for a birdcage. Tom said he could do it for 600.00 and he could finish it for sure by the next day. Tom starts the project and a couple hours later he states he has to pick up his son and he would return Sunday to finish up. He asked for payment at that time. Unfortunately trusting him to return we paid him. Sunday came and went without any communication from Tom. Monday I texted him asking when he planned on finishing the job and he gave me some song and dance about his "other" job. Needless to say I haven't heard from Tom since. Sadly I wouldn't hire Tom to scrape turds from my cats litter boxes!! Update- Tom told me he was going to pick up his son. This still doesn't get him off for not communicating or finishing the job. As a prior Field Svc Tech, I know that customer satisfaction is priority 1. Quinn's was the only available contractor I could find on the weekend. Tom came out (Sat.) made the plumbing "repair" then had to return on Monday to stop the water drip and make the pipe the correct height. His disposition on Mon was not pleasant and he caused 3 bathroom sink faucets to clog. Which he said, he didn't cause. Later, my regular plumber found PVC cement clogging the faucets. In the end, Tom made $500, my plumber $150 and I'm out over $650 (parts and labor). Additionally I still have a dripping spigot, that I have to fix. The end result is a mess. I'd be embarrassed to claim that work as mine. An honorable gesture by Tom, would to refund my money. But instead he'll reply with how he was dealing with family issues. I had slight puddling along the bottom of my lanai. I requested Tom to come out and take a look. I had the same problem 3 years ago when my house was under warranty. A person was sent out and proceeded to use a screwdriver and do few adjustments which took about 5 minutes. That was it and whatever he did worked for around 3 years. A week and a half ago, Tom comes out. The same day I had back surgery. My girlfriend goes out to meet Tom as he takes out a tape measure and spends maybe 10 minutes doing a few measurements. He then requests $150.00 for his job estimate which she mistakenly pays. He never once mentioned to me an estimate would cost $150.00. If so I would have told him to stay home. When I asked him why $150.00; he told me he would have to research the job after he told me he knew what to do to fix my problem. When I questioned him about the $150.00, he says I can take it off the total price of the job. Unfortunately, all options he talked about were expensive. Some a thousand to two thousand dollars. I found a handy man who did the work for $300.00. More like I thought it would cost. Drilled a few holes to release the small puddling from my lanai. I don't care about his high price estimates because I would never pay those amounts for a simple job of releasing water from my lanai; it was the deceitful way of not telling me it would cost me $150.00 for a price estimate which took ten minutes and taking advantage of my girlfriend. I would stay as far away as I could from this guy. He may or may not do good work; but do work that is not necessary and very expensive. read more

I am giving a 4 instead of 5 simply because Tom didn't show at our original appointment. I needed to call him and he said he was still at his day job... He could have called or texted me prior, in order to reschedule? He did come the next day and was excellent! He showed me how to drain the hot water heater tank and was very efficient. I moved into a new home and had some projects I wanted to complete to make it my own. Our phone conversations and texts seemed a little awkward. But Friday afternoon he scheduled to come out and install some doors for me Saturday. He said he had a couple jobs in the morning and would see me in the afternoon. When I hadn't heard anything from him by 3:45 I texted him to see if he was still coming. No reply. I waited to see if he would contact me Sunday morning, because at one point he asked about coming out Sunday morning, if he couldn't get there Saturday afternoon. It is now noon on Sunday and I have not heard from him. He just ghosted me. You know when you have someone scheduled to come out, you stay home and just wait. That's what I did. I was so excited to get my new front door installed. I bought the paint for it Saturday morning. I should be painting it right now. But it is still sitting unboxed in my carport. So disappointing.
