Dana Nichols office is the friendliest and most thorough dentistry that I have ever been to and usually its tough to find a place that balances being nice with sometimes having to give bad news to people when it comes to their teeth. The staff from the receptionist to the billing specialist to the dental assistants and Dr. Nichols all have mastered the art of customer service to go with the other degrees that they have and I couldn't be more grateful. Additionally they also have a water fridge and magazines in the waiting room which is very nice for before or after your appointment and they make an effort to schedule follow up visits while you are at the chair by guiding you through the calendar on a computer -knowing people sometimes forget to set up appointments they make things nice and easy and for that I am grateful. read more

From scheduling for my first appointment to my exam with Dr Nichols, this was the best dental experience I've had. Scheduling was done on line but there was a real person behind the app who answered all my questions and verified my insurance. The cleaning was extremely thorough, professional and comfortable. I have been to many dentists, and I am happy with Dr. Nichols. His staff is professional and friendly. I was fortunate to have a friend refer me to him. The work with Dr. Nichols wasn't complicated, but it involved the removal of four teeth, prep for implants, and then putting in the implants. Of course, not everything goes smoothly. The bone that would have housed one of the implants wasn't good enough, so he had to do bone grafts, which extended the completion of the 'project.' I am thrilled with my new implants. I highly recommend him. This wasn't a quick and easy job. I am back to just a cleaning schedule. Let's see how long my mouth goes without a problem: Brush, floss, water pick. read more

I want to express my gratitude for the professionalism and kindness that Dr. Nichols and the staff showed me over the last three years since I've been a patient of Advanced Dental Concepts. For example, when I called in and told them my tooth had just broken, they scheduled me the same day, and they all stayed late so that they could help me. After delicately preparing the tooth, they scanned the area and passed the measurements to the 3-D printer. It took just 2 hours, and my new tooth got printed on the spot. I have the best dentist EVER!! So I am one of those people who hates, absolutely hates, going to the dentist. I had called several dentists over the years asking if I could be numbed up to get a cleaning because I have sensitive spots on my teeth and I absolutely hate that "zing" that you can sometimes get when an instrument touches just the wrong part of your tooth. Every dentist I called said no if we number you up we're going to do root planing and deep scaling. I didn't want root planing and deep scaling I just wanted a cleaning! In comes Dr Nichols ! Absolutely the most gentle dentist in Southern California! Orange County's premier Dentist! The first time I went, I had asked to be numb for the cleaning. They didn't even blink, no problem. They suggested two separate visits so that he could numb one side and clean it and then the next visit on the other side and clean it. He was very gentle! I never even felt the shots! This time, I got a little more brave because of how gentle he was last time. I had a meeting at work later in the day and didn't want to be numb still when I got there, so I told him i would like to try without the shots. It was fantastic!! I got my teeth cleaned without any pain or discomfort at all. Dr. Nichols did the cleaning himself, took his time and was very, very gentle. Doctor Dana Nichols is the best dentist I have ever had in so many ways. My brother was an excellent dentist too, but he has retired, so I am extra picky because he spoiled me. Dr. Dana's hygienists are also extremely good and listen to my particular requests. His staff is friendly and helpful. The office is beautiful with Laguna Beach underwater photography, it's like an art gallery. They accept medicare insurance which is fantastic; it's so hard to find a good medicare dentist because they usually try to up-sell you. Dr. Dana does not do that. If there were six stars or more I would rate Dr Nichols even higher I recently needed to change dentists due to relocation and chose Dr. Nichols based on reputation. I was not disappointed. Many people don't enjoy going to the dentist, and I am no exception. But...I can say that this entire practice made the experience hands down the best of I have ever experienced. The Dr and the entire staff couldn't be nicer and are true professionals. Dr. Nichols himself was courteous, knowledgeable and easy to communicate with regarding all phases of the visit. After knocking my two front teeth out when I was 12 my situation had become unbearable. I have a real fear of dentists and was seeking consultations on implants for 5 or 6 years. Each time I went for a consultation I got so scared I never went back. By the time I went to Dr. Nichols the situation was really bleak; my bones had completely deteriorated as had my gum line and they were also infected. My crowns were separating from my gum and you could see the posts. I was very uncomfortable as well as getting sick from the infection. Dr. Nichols was not my dentist but I went in to talk to him about helping him get the word out on his new practice in Laguna Beach. When I showed him my situation he let me know that he could actually do implants and he could do the whole thing right at his office. Everyone else I had seen required me to go to three or four different dentists because not one of them specialized in the entire procedure. I had my consultation and decided to go forward. Again this is a huge deal for me; it's something I had been avoiding 42 years! Dr. Nichols is hands down the best dentist I have ever been to, for so many reasons! He treated my husband, four of my children, and me. ALL of us had great experiences, including my 7 year old autistic son - I absolutely did not see that going well and somehow Dr. Nichols got him to happily sit through the whole thing! One of my boys has always had trouble with his teeth, and after a semester at college where he seemingly didn't brush his teeth for four months, had 19 cavities. This boy has been to every dentist under the sun because we have moved a lot, and after the amazingly chipper lady at the front managed to squeeze him in for four appointments before he had to go back to school, my son said that for the first time in his life he felt like his teeth were actually 'fixed'. Also, my husband, who is a giant sissy girl about the dentist, sent me a text after his visit saying: "Every other dentist should bow down to this guy". He is right. They put a special numbing gel on before (which doesn't hurt at all) to help with the pain. it helped a lot. they were so quick easy and gentle with the shots i didn't even notice it was happening. We were originally recommended to Dr Dana Nichols by our son's orthodontist. Our son needed cosmetic work done on his teeth after an accident, and his orthodontist said that Dr. Nichols did excellent work - some of the best he had ever seen (and the orthodontist had seen a lot). Dr. Nichols gave us a free consultation, was extremely helpful and informative, and did not pressure us to use his services. Our son had to have two porcelain veneers because of two front chipped teeth, and Dr. Nichols did an amazingly thorough job to get the veneers to match the rest of his teeth perfectly (the dental work is truly invisible today). While we were waiting for the final porcelain veneers to be made in the lab, my son accidentally loosened one of his temporary veneers, and Dr. Nichols came into the office ON THE WEEKEND to fix it for him. Now THAT'S service! My wife hadn't been to the dentist in years (perhaps 7?) and when she saw how well Dr. Nichols took care of our son, she decided to try him for her dentist. She was also impressed by the excellent care, his great chair-side manner, and his low-stress and helpful attitude. After one visit she immediately switched from our old dentist to Dr. Nichols. After experiencing all of this, I am also going to switch. I almost hate to write this review because I don't want him to get too busy! He only recently moved to Laguna Beach and purchased this dental office, and I am confident with a little word of mouth he will soon have more business than he knows what to do with! read more

Let's face it.. The thought of going to the dentist makes me self conscious and my husband nauseous and moody! It had been 5 years since my last dental visit and..... Ahem.. 20 years for my husband.
