This was such a great experience. This trip was a Christmas gift to my daughters two softball coaches from the entire team of parents. Having a group of five of us plus the boat captain was just perfect. Our captain Craig was great very nice, very knowledgeable and made sure we had a productive day. As you can see in the pictures we did just that. Our trip initially was supposed to be a 3/4 day but the original boat seemed to have issues so we had a back up boat, but unfortunately our day was going to be cut shorter into a half day. We were given a discount which was nice we used the extra money towards a bigger tip for Craig and lunch for our group afterwards. We literally started catching fish as soon as we dropped our lines to sea floor. Everyone of us had a blast, even though we felt sea sickness coming over us from time to time. I do recommend if you are unsure if you'll get sick definitely do a short trip first. This was my first ocean fishing trip and now I know that I do get motion sickness but Dramamine helped and looking out to the land masses or horizon helped a lot. Honestly once you start fishing and catching you forget about it. I do wish however that a toilet be more private for the female passengers. Especially when you come early morning drinking coffee. Luckily for the half day I was able to wait till we got back. We definitely want to book another trip for the tuna season. Thank you so much for the great experience. Private family charter on Reel Fun today. Thank captain and crew for an amazing fun filled fishing adventure. Our delicious freshly made breakfast burritos fueled us for early morning haul of sport fish. The deck hands were always helping us with tackle, baiting, untangling lines and gaffing our catches. I was looking for a private fishing charter to escape the crowded cattle boats and was referred to Captain Cheyne and his crew, from a couple that I met while eating on the patio at Windnsea. They pointed me towards their dock and coincidentally, the crew was just cleaning up from a half day trip. First impressions are everything and it was a pleasure to meet a clean cut, well mannered group of people! We scheduled a trip for the following month for myself and three of my friends! Once the day came around, it ended up being one of the windier days that month, but as it was mid August there was still plenty to be had. Captain Cheyne was on point and put us on 4 different spots; each time we were pulling up massive yellowtails every 10 minutes (see photo). It was truly incredible. Cheyne was as excited as we were with the fishing and from the moment we stepped on the boat he had such a positive, welcoming attitude towards my friends and I. It was a great experienced to have such passionate captain and fishing guide to lead our trip. read more

This was my first time fishing from Dana warf and I'll definitely come back. The Fury one day trip was the best. I may not have caught the big fish but we did catch some. Fishing is fishing so that part was normal. My review is about the staff. I took the twilight charter and learned fast not to ask the staff on the boat for anything. They acted as if speaking to guests was an inconvenience. I didn't ask for much. There was no hand soap in the filthy bathroom and wanted to wash my hands before eating the gross hamburger that was served on the boat (don't think the cook washed his hands ). He was " too busy" making burgers to give me a squirt of hand soap. Finally he gave me some before I ate but wanted the soap 20 minutes earlier because I chew and didn't want to put my fingers in my dip can with fish guts. Anything I asked for through the cook was like pulling teeth. Nice attitude. I even gave him a 10 dollar tip hoping that maybe would make him a little more pleasant. The other staff were cocky pricks as well. They acted as if everyone was stupid. I'm not a professional fisherman but I have been fishing for 30 years. Just wasn't impressed with the attitudes or service. The staff in the store were pleasant. Very helpful. It was just the boat staff that were rude. I won't be goin back. All the fishing charters are about the same price anyways. I would recommend trying a different one. The boat was also small and in my opinion was over sold. I almost lost an eye 3 times people were so crammed every time someone casted you had to watch out. So be carful and watch those around you. read more

I've fished out of Dana Point for about 35 years now on all sorts of boats and I have to say that I've enjoyed going out with Cheyne on The Alexandria the most. I've fished with him about 10 times now. Cheyne has great local knowledge to get you on the fish plus his boat is of the perfect size to get you to the "spots" quickly and comfortably. For me and my friends this has been a winning combination every time. We also do night dives during lobster with Cheyne. We're going tomorrow night and as always... I can't wait. Great crew! They made sure our entire group was comfortable, provided coaching tips fishing and helped everyone. I was a rookie and they had me baiting my hook. Everyone caught at least 1 fish, several caught more. They knew we'd taken a dolphin and whale excursion with a different company a few days earlier and it was a complete bust; so they made sure we saw a few dolphins too. I fished with my fishing club, Fibbers, on the Sum Fun last Saturday, 6/17. I don't get out on 3/4 day trips often. I wanted to get out with the guys and haven't had a chance this year. I have nothing but positive things to say about the crew and experience I had on the boat. The IPA's were a nice addition. The deck hands did everything they could to help the customers.
