We did the 7:30-9pm time slot and it was perfect, we boarded as the sun was finally setting and were able to cruise around as the night was taking over. Nico was knowledgeable about the area and should us some points of interest. There is a sushi restaurant and a place where you can order burgers and other food right next to where you board the tiki. It can get quite busy to make sure you get there with plenty of time to spare if you plan on ordering food to take out on the water with you. Sodas, ice, and some water bottles are provided for you, but make sure you have a good playlist of music ready so you can connect to their bluetooth speaker.

This was by far the worst whale watching tour I've ever taken. I've done whale watching multiple…read moretimes before -- in Boston and other locations -- and every other tour actually went out into deeper waters where whales are usually found. This tour, however, barely left the coastline. If whales could be seen that close to shore, I could have just stood on the beach and saved my money. The trip was advertised as 2 to 2.5 hours, but it only lasted about 1.5 hours. Most of that time was spent heading back toward the harbor, and then we sat near the harbor entrance for around 20 minutes just watching sea lions. I honestly don't understand why anyone should pay $50 per person just to look at something you can easily see from the shore. It felt misleading and disappointing. The boat never seriously attempted to go offshore, where whales are actually located. What made this even more frustrating was that I specifically asked the staff before booking whether we were likely to see whales, and they assured me we would. Do not waste your money on this tour.

Went on a 2 hour tour with Captain Erica and Molly, down in Newport Beach. They were absolutely the best. Captain Erica was knowledgeable and friendly that we were able to enjoy the whole ride. We saw a momma grey whale and baby and hundreds and hundreds of bottle nose dolphins. As Captain Erica said, we must have had lucky people on board to experience both on the same tour. Molly got some awesome and amazing shots that she was able to share with us. We thoroughly enjoyed the surfing dolphins that were created by the wake from our boat. The conditions were perfect, and the experience was worth every penny. We're already planning our next tour for the upcoming season and can't wait to book an Oxnard adventure with them. Hopefully we can get this dynamic duo again. Can't speak highly of Captain Erica and Molly. Total worth it. See you guys soon.

We saw about 400 dolphins and 1 humpback whale! It was such an enjoyable excursion! I would recommend you bring your own snacks and/or drinks on board if you don't have a chance to eat beforehand, since snacks and drinks are not provided on the 2.5 hour 8 am tour. Cannot say enough about how cool it was to view the wildlife through the underwater viewing pods. It was an unbelievable experience to come nose to nose with wild bottlenose dolphins. We visited on a busy day on Memorial Day weekend, and the crew still took time to make sure that everyone on the boat was having a good time and getting their questions answered. I also brought along my rambunctious 2 1/2 year old son, and felt totally safe on the boat, which felt very secure for kids. On our cruise we saw dolphins, a fin whale, a sun fish, sealions, and common dolphins. A great day. Special thanks to Matt and Amanda for all their fun facts and knowledge sharing! We will definitely be back later in the year to look out for blue whales and white sided dolphins.

His girlfriend responded to the boat and they gave us a great price. They offered to take us out longer than we had planned so that we could see whales and dolphins; however, one of the girls started getting sea sick so we made it back to dock after a fulfilling trip. Tim and his girlfriend catered to our sick teen as if she was their own. They played music, provided drinks, told us interesting facts about the area and made it a great afternoon. I can't say enough good things about them. Everyone whom went, to include the woozy teen, said that it was a great activity. Thank you Epic Yacht Charters!

I've texted to inquire prior to booking and It took a while to get response. I asked if an hour is enough time and the reply was basically stating it depends on the group so I didn't get a good response, then I asked if we can dock at other areas and explore because I was considering a 2 hr rental, the response was "absolutely". When we arrived it was a totally different response and they didn't advise us to dock elsewhere and they would not grant us a 1 hr instead since the only option was to circle the harbor TWICE and take our time. They are adamant about being on time only to get there extra early, speak to the staff and return at our scheduled time and find we didn't have a boat ready. They asked me to wait for a group to return but changed their mind and gave us a boat on site. I over heard one of the staff stating a customers boat died so I asked them to verify ours were good to go and won't die on us. We headed out only to die out 15-20 min after, we couldn't get ahold of anyone and kept getting voice mail. I tried texting and it a reply to call the office. I noticed a small sticker on the boat with a number, called that and spoke to staff, explained the situation and was told they would rescue us. We spent 15-20 min trolling, waited 25-30 min to get rescued and they tried to put us on another boat which I refused. They considered that an hour (i considered that 20 min) so I asked to end the rental. They originally didn't want to do it but I refused to do it again as we all lost interest at this point. They ended up refunding me $65 lol. I was so done I just took it and wanted to go about our day. Apparently they do a rescues on a regular so beware. After all of that I found the boat we were rented was the oldest and first boat they got and been having issues with it...go figure! I gave 2 stars because 2 members were cool. Pics verifying I was informed we could dock and another while we were stuck

I went with Newport Rental Boats because they were the least expensive option, and had a 1.5 hour option for $150 cash. Duffy cost about $20 per hour more. I recommend the 2 hour plan, as 1.5 hours flew by too quickly.
