Korean owned & operated, Main Street Cafe offers breakfast and lunch in a small, but congenial dining room and counter on old Main Street, Norristown, PA. I stopped by after a business meeting to grab coffee and a bite before returning to Bucks. The six stool counter had room for me. I was greeted immediately by a family member who poured my coffee and took my order of a sausage and 2 egg sandwich on Kaiser roll. The Bunn o'matic drip was strong and bracing. The sandwich arrived on a ceramic plate, wrapped in paper. It had been pressed so that its profile was compacted and dense. Admit to liking this unexpected presentation. And, the first bite told the tale, slicing through roll, folded scrambled eggs and patty sausage cleanly, and allowing each layer to announce itself distinctly. It was an excellent creation, enjoyable through the last chomp and chew. Prices were also quite reasonable, as I walked out for less than the ten spot, including tip. Coffee refilled without asking.

The Bavarian pretzels were so soft inside, but crusty and buttery on the outside. My jalapeno burger was cooked to perfection with lots of pink in the middle. Even the French fries were good, and I'm not a huge fry person. I do wish they had Bloody Marys/would bring the brunch menu back, but the Espresso martinis were not bad at all. I really want to come back here and sample more of the menu items. If they are anything like what I had on my first try here, I'll be simply delighted!

It's across the parking lot, so they have their own bar with limited drinks there and the food you order comes like take out. The outdoor seating is gorgeous though - right on the river with string lights, plants, lawn games, and fun/quirky vibes. They were blasting 90s girl anthems which was fun. It's be a perfect place to take kids. My son would have played in the rocks for hours while I chilled. The IPAs i tried were good, but the cocktail my friend ordered was questionable- super sweet and dipped from a giant premixed vat. I liked how much variety their menu had. The salmon was delicious and I liked the rest of the meal too but the squash was tough and underdone. I'm not sure if they offer flights inside but they don't outside. I was a little sad about that because they had a variety of beers that sounded good.

We really liked the atmosphere too. We ate the aracinis for an appetizer and for entrees we had the short rib pasta and the salmon. We would definitely come back. The one suggestion I have though is to have at least one high chair on hand. Our three year old could manage on the normal chairs but the table was a little high for her.

But then when I was looking up their burger week menu I came across the valentines menu and it looked good, so I figured I would give it try. My husband's dinner was alot better than mine so I was eating some of his, even though we always share anyway. He got the oysters with a dragonfruit sauce and they were good. I ordered crab and corn soup with grilled focaccia bread. The soup itself was fine , but it was only half a bowl and not much crab in it. I would have liked more soup instead of the bread. I gave the bread to my husband because we got a good amount of bread for the appetizer and I didn't want to fill up too much. I probably should have ordered the calamari instead , that looked pretty good. My husband's scallops with risotto was very good. Seared perfectly, creamy risotto, good flavor. Normally that is what I like to order, but I got the crab pasta because I love crab. I was disappointed In this dish. The crab tasted a little too fishy like it went bad or something. I also got a number of shells in the crab I had to spit out. I feel like they could have mixed the crab with some kind of seasoning or flavors. It seemed like they just dumped the crab right out of the can into the pasta and didn't even clean the shells out first. And they didn't even put the pasta in any kind of sauce. I would have liked maybe a creamy sauce with it. The pasta was just in like a watery garlic broth, and it broke apart and crab went all in the water and I didn't even have a spoon to pick it up. Dessert was ok. I'm glad we got the dragonfruit cheesecake instead of the chocolate cake, it was refreshing . The tiramisu wasn't bad but it was still somewhat frozen. I was kind of surprised because we are fans of the Pieri group restaurants. We have been to their sister restaurant Stonerose for burger week for a number of years now and love it. We also came to burger week at bar sera the one year and really enjoyed theirs too. I wish they did them separate weeks so we could go to both . Maybe it was just an off night tonite. Sometimes valentines menus aren't as good as their regular menu. Maybe we learned our lesson to go out the week before valentines instead for next year.

We decided to try Salt & Stone recently since it was a new spot and this place did not disappoint. Upon entering the establishment, we were greeted by none other than the owners. Zara & Dimitri (not great with names but I think that's what they said) were very welcoming and patient as I inquired about all the work they've done with the interior. It looks a lot nicer inside than the previous restaurant. Now the important part. The food. Absolutely incredible. I am still disappointed I didn't try this place earlier. We started with the goat cheese lollipops (amazing), Mezze, and calimari (high quality). After the first bite, I knew we were in for a great dinner. For the main course, I ordered the Rigatoni & my wife ordered the pork chop. Both were top notch. I love a good old fashioned and I enjoy other people's takes on this. Theirs was something different with a pistachio rim. It did not disappoint. These folks know what they're doing and I'm still thinking about that meal over a week later.
