The make your own sundae bar is amazing, with toppings including chocolate sauce, strawberry sauce, raspberry sauce, caramel, butterscotch, marshmallow, m&m's, peanuts, and fresh whipped cream. Love sitting in the dining room and looking out at the mountains, and you can also eat outside on the covered patio. Service is always prompt and friendly. The many rooms of gift shopping are also always fun - there are lots of stuffed animals and kids items, including a little room full of Harry Potter themed items. Also home and gift items. Best of all is the large candy and chocolate area! Clean restrooms and plenty of parking as well. Prices are fair and Kellerhaus is a must visit place for us when we are in this area.

They have a couple dozen flavors of ice cream and a make your own sundae bar. The scoops of ice cream are generously sized and there's a decent variety of toppings on the sundae bar. I especially like the peanut butter sauce. I think the ice cream and the sundae bar are reasonably priced. I wish they had a typical display case for the ice creams, I'd like the opportunity to see what the different flavors look like before I order.

I was riding along Main Street upon my recently purchased tandem bicycle (21 magnificent gears!) with my recent partner and keeper, Prudence. Naturally I let her ride in front, in silent protest of the gender wage gap. Even in our swift passing, my peripheral vision took it in. Could it be? A candy store in our very city? By Jove, yes! Instantly I tapped the brakes, almost tipping Prudence to the unkempt pavement. Her hand raised to strike me as she often does, but suddenly she understood the sparkle in my eyes as hers fell upon the same sign. The promise of pure delight. Alas we are troubled, me and Prudence. You see, we have dedicated our lives to the fight against the ever-warming globe. The feverishly haunting inevitability of climate change. I wish I could say Lee was joining us in this fight as an ally, but much to our chagrin, as we reboarded our tandem cycle, we happened upon a grave discovery. A bag of jelly beans. Innocent at first glance, yes, but upon closer inspection, each individual bean.. wrapped in its own dolphin-choking plastic! The horror. The horror. This betrayal to our Mother Earth. This assault on our senses, on every fiber of our being. And as the tears welled up in the eyes of my fair Prudence, I knew we could never bring ourselves to step into Lee's Candy Kitchen again, as we now knew the truth. A devious plot to lure the residents of this fair city into plastic peril. A trojan horse made of saccharine runs free.. and it must be tamed. To this Lee and his kitchen of candy, we can only muster a single star. A rusted star of jagged proportions and broken points, wrapped in a suffocating ziploc bag, much like our hearts.

This place is hands down the coolest spot in Laconia and a total hidden gem!…read moreIf you walk in off Main Street, it looks like an adorable, retro candy shop. They have a great selection of nostalgic sweets! But the real magic happens if you know where to look. I won't spoil the whole surprise, but let's just say you should take a closer look at the vintage Coca-Cola machine in the back... Once you get inside the "secret" area, the vibe completely changes. It's a full speakeasy with incredible atmosphere and amazing cocktails. We ordered a round of drinks including the Espresso Martini, Cosmopolitan, The Peach Ring, and The Yeti. Every single one was spot on--perfectly balanced and strong. For food, you absolutely have to get the "Bees Knees Burner." It's a homemade hot honey feta dip made with Greek yogurt, red pepper flakes, and sweet honey. It was served with warm naan/ bread and fresh veggies, and the balance of sweet and spicy was incredible. Whether you are looking for a fun stop with the family for candy or a unique night out for drinks and apps, this place hits the mark. We own a rental property nearby in Gilford and will definitely be telling all our guests to check this place out!

The fudge is to die for and they have so many different flavors to choose from. The shop also sells NH and NH made novelty items... maple syrup, tea, soy candles, chocolates, T-shirt's, sweaters, mugs, body scrubs, popcorn, etc. Although you have lots to choose from and the fudge is amazing... the best part is the warm and friendly service we received even before getting out of our car. The owner was extremely warm and helpful... and customer service is number one in my book! He mentions he will be expanding services even more in the months to come. And I can't wait to be back to have some tea while getting a foot massage and eating some fudge! If you're in the area, passing by, or even if you're not in the area... add this little hidden gem to your list of stops to make. You won't regret it!

The previous reviewer (Angela S.) really nailed it. Granite Life is great! We were on a mission…read morefrom my grandmother to find a rock. She's very picky--you'd think that a rock wouldn't be hard to find in the Granite State, but she had stipulations. Plus, it had just snowed about 3 feet, so any rocks that might around sure weren't visible. So, we called around to a few places to ask about rocks. We got a lot of puzzled looks (through the phone), until we reached George. He said, "Well... sure we have rocks. Are you staying Steele Hill Resort?" We were. "Okay, come by tomorrow, and I'll have a couple rocks for you." So, we went. The shop was clearly closed for the winter season, but we called George and he can down from his home (on the same property) and gave us a selection of rocks from the boundary wall of his property. We tried to give him some money, but he refused. We told him thanks and that we would have to come back sometime to check out his shop. He asked if we wanted to check out the candy, and we said, okay, if not too much trouble. Nothing was too much trouble for George. He opened up the shop, told us about how it was a labor of love for him and his family, lots of local goods, including maple syrup from the farm up the street. And fudge, all sorts of different, delicious fudge. They also had plenty of novelty gifts, hand-screened sweatshirts and t-shirts, and a little coffee nook overlooking the fields and lake in the distance (can't remember if we could see the lake--but it was there!). Needless to say, we couldn't help ourselves from picking up a few souvenirs and happily supporting a local business and businessman who obviously cared about his customers and how he treats them. We can't say enough nice things about Granite Life--friendly, convenient if you're in the area, wide selection of souvenirs with local flare, and just a generally good vibe to take home with you. Highly, highly recommended. Oh, and Gramma liked the rock--not too flashy, but she loved the story and the history of it. Mostly, she liked that we made the effort to find what she wanted--thanks, George.
