What a cute little market place. Not too big but they had plenty to choose from and 6 big chocolate chip cookies for $1.69...I'm in love with N.H. prices! Across the street they also have a little place with some outdoor seats, to grab some good eats/ice cream. I had my very FIRST lobster roll there! This review is for Shackett's Seafood Shack across the street from their grocery store. The clam baskets were a major disappointment. The young man cooking the food clearly has no experience as evidenced in the pictures I've posted below. $78.45 for three "whole belly" clam baskets that were mostly over cooked batter served in styrofoam containers with burn holes. If was a quite Monday at the shac. The ambiance was just spectacular... everything was clean, there was corn hole, a fire, and two really nice workers. I got clam chowder and a small rainbow sherbet ice cream cone. I was devouring my food when one of the workers came out and asked me how it was. I said it was splendid but it did have a little to much clam. They continued to give me a full body massage and I tipped them $100 for there services. I walked out of the mystical forest very pleased and happy! read more

This is a review of Shackett's Ice Cream Stand across the street from their Store. The Ice Cream is good quality with a great selection of flavors but; the portion sizes are the tiniest I've seen anywhere and the prices are ridiculously high for what you get. An Ice Cream Sundae consisted of 2 small scoops with sparse toppings for around $8. A "large" Ice Cream barely fills what is normally a small cup. Two tiny scoops for $6. There is ample outdoor seating with umbrella covered tables. The plastic eating utensils are cheap and low quality. It's not easy to eat Ice Cream with a small, pliable soup spoon. The staff usually consists of disinterested teenagers who do a decent job but are lacking on the customer service. Very robotic. On this visit, there was an adult, male Manager shouting loudly at a teenage boy who appeared to be an employee of the grocery store. The poor kid was so rattled that he almost walked into traffic in his haste to escape the situation. Obviously, I don't know the background of their relationship or what may have led to the hostility but; I do know that it's not something that I want to see and hear. Cleaning and sanitizing seemed to be nonexistent. Most of the staff wore masks (some correctly, some not so much) but not gloves. We'll be back again at some point because of the location and general lack of competition in the area but with lowered expectations. read more

Absolutely loved the food, activity, and seating at the Seafood Shack across from this store. Great place to stop with easy parking. Fried Clam Strips and fries were delicious. Kids loves the ice cream and frappes. Can't go wrong! read more

This is for the Shackett affiliate / owned seafood shack across the street. WORST FOOD EVER. But first THE SERVICE. I know we are in a pandemic but when you are open and are serving food for the public PLEASE PLEASE have one of your staff wear a mask and also train him to use gloves when handling our food. While 3 out of 4 staff did wear mask and gloves it was just not sanitized and careless of the young man. We did get helped quickly and I'm sure they're nice high schoolers but who is their manager? Who is training them to handle people's food during a pandemic? Now to the food. We got 2 lobster rolls and a buffalo chicken sandwich with 2 orders of fries and Mac and cheese bites. FIRST let me tell you how the lobster rolls tasted. LIKE TUNA. Again this goes to the employees - are they not trained to make sure the food is right temperature or making sure there is no cross contamination? Cause for 15/16 bucks our lobster rolls tasted like tuna. And that's not a good sign OR safe and sanitized. Were we served bad lobster? The portion was nice but it didn't make up for the lackluster flavor that tasted like tuna. Also my buffalo chicken sandwich was so bad. It was a small piece of fried chicken with a drizzle of buffalo sauce. I had better and bigger chicken sandwiches from McDonald's for 1 dollar. I did like the Mac and cheese bites. That was surprisingly nice. The fries were meh at best. To the owners / management team - please double train your staff to wear a glove and mask when food handling. ALSO the lobster rolls tasted very tuna fishy. I'm slightly worried that because of lack of management there is cross contamination, quality control issue going on. Also hire adults. Or atleast better teenagers who do take other people's food seriously. PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE. I would give it no star if I could. read more

Best Fries in The World! Pretty basic as far as ice cream goes but I come (at least) once a year and love dipping my fries in ice cream.

Cute store. It's the most convenient option if you need to run out quickly. I want to love this place, but I was turned off by a golden retriever walking around the deli. I looked around, half expecting to see a handicapped person because I assumed the dog was a service animal. To my surprise, I was the only customer in the store. I'm pretty sure the dog belonged to either the owner or an employee. Don't get me wrong...I love dogs, just not in a grocery store. I have two dogs of my own who are not allowed near the food I prepare for my family. Not only that, the man behind the deli counter handled my cold cuts without gloves. I should have asked him to put gloves on, but I was too much in shock. I sincerely hope he was not handling the dog before my food. Gross! read more

FRESH DONUTS are the best. We get them a few times while in the area on vacation and make sure to take extra to take home with us. Great small grocery store to get whatever we need for our vacation meals. Yummy fudge and coffee too. A long time family tradition for many years. read more
