This little deli is a local treasure in a rural area. It is very conveniently located in the aptly named Rum Brook Plaza between a gas station, Helen's Place (open for lunch and dinner), and a small brookside park. At lunchtime, the parking lot is like a beehive with cars and trucks of people working in the area pulling in and back out with freshly made sandwiches, salads (not green salads, but the kind made with real mayonnaise), and those huge dill pickles that used to stand around in barrels at old time delis. There are individual servings of desserts in a refrigerator, a smattering of fresh produce, fresh breads, snacks, beverages (including beer and wine, and there is even a tiny wine alcove), ice cream, birthday candles and other things you might need once in a while but can't seem to lay your hands on. In the mornings, there are house-made breakfast sandwiches in a warmer so people can grab and go. The people work hard and are kind and friendly. We stopped in on Memorial Day - along with everyone else in the area - to pick up potato salad, seafood salad, and macaroni salad, and they were prepared! It was all hands on deck at the deli, shelves were stocked, and there were extra checkout clerks. walked in 15 minutes before closing for a quick dessert. brought a cupcake up to the counter and it was ringing in 2.50 more than advertised. I mentioned it to the girl, who already was clearly ready to go home... we walk back to show her the price it's being advertised, takes my dessert, puts it back, and says "well that's the price in the register, there's nothing I can do for you" extremely rude. I recently moved to Grantham and stopped into Rum Brooke Market for the first time. Saying that I left with my expectations far exceeded is an understatement. I ordered an Italian sub, and I must say, as someone who has lived in NY, this place can meet the quality of some of the best NY delis. The bread was soft and tender, the vegetable crisp and cut properly, meat was plentiful but not overdone. Very apparent there is attention to detail here. I will certainly be returning, and I can't recommend this place enough. Even if you have to make the drive from the Lebanon area, it would be worth it, in my opinion. Mixed feelings but overall positive. The familiar country market deli feel is amazing, and they are renowned in the area for their breakfast sandwiches, which are amazing! Croissant bacon is the best. This place used to be my go-to for gas to avoid the crowds, but something has happened the last year and now the gas here is incredibly more expensive than the Irving a few blocks away in town. Stopped here for a quick lunch, was very impressed. The service was fast, the prices were great, the food was fresh. Loved the Turkey deluxe sandwich and the Ukrainian Sandwich. This place is incredible. It took me quite a few months after I moved here to go in...because frankly it looked like a questionable and scary gas station from the outside. But do yourself and favor and walk in. Not only do they have literally everything you could think of needing (without convenience-price-gauging), by they also have a huge coffee selection, fresh baked pastries, and a stocked deli with great custom sandwiches. My fave is the cranberry chicken salad. So don't judge this book by its cover. If you only have one place in town, be thankful it's Rum Brook! read more

I went there once never come back. People were rude unhelpful. Prices are very high. I took my elderly lady with me for quick shopping. Every employee were pretending be busy doing something instead come offer help finding the items that she needs. Also because I am Latin with brown skin color I ve noticed discrimination. Last weekend, M and I were heading up to a friend's farm to go camping. As we were getting off the highway I did a mental checklist-- sleeping bags, sunscreen, water, booze... check. Bug spray....... oh crap. 30 seconds of panic and one Yelp search later, we're pulling into this super quaint barn. We run in, expecting a gas station convenience store, and 5 steps in I'm looking at a huge shelf of gourmet spices. Where the heck are we?? Don't let the wee size of this store and its funky, gravel parking lot dissuade you from going in, they carry a LOT of items that most of the big chains don't stock. Every time I need something quick and am convinced they probably won't have it: they do. Their prices aren't marked way up like a lot of similar sized stores tend to do. Their produce is pretty fresh and in good shape. Sometimes it's fun just to go in and see what they have for a wine selection. It's all reasonably priced and rates pretty high on the Wine Spectator list. This may have something to do with Eastman, a pretty ritzy development, being right across the road. The staff are all very friendly and helpful, so please don't mistreat them with some pompous, big city attitude. read more

It's a great place for a pit stop if you're passing exit 13 on 89 and you're feeling a bit hungry. They have plenty of snacks ranging from the usual chips and candy to the locally made cheeses and pastries. They also have some deli sandwiches and soups if you're appetite is a little bit bigger. It's a great place if you've just moved to the area. The first weekend up here I must've ran to the store half a dozen times when we noticed we forgot to pack something, couldn't find something we had packed, or when we realized we didn't have any beer. It's a great place on a Sunday morning if you want to grab a coffee, muffin, and the paper. There are more than a dozen different varieties of Green Mountain coffee to choose from. Really great place that stocks good quality products and has very friendly staff. Blessed to have it so close by. For such a small store - really great grocery selection. 9.99 times out of 10 they are going to stock that one ingredient you're missing. High quality fresh meats available in the deli - steak tips, pork chops, salmon, freshly ground beef and strip steaks were all great quality and delicious!
