She's been very patient and very helpful with us, given the difficult project we presented her (in content and talent level of the dancers). She's been very kind and she's able to explain things to us in a way that we can understand. She is receptive to our input and works with us to make sure we're happy. The locale is tucked in a little corner next to a brewery, but there's an ample dance floor. Our lessons came in a 10-pack, each 45 minutes long. We'll keep coming back! Pretty affordable and great for making friends! We found Dance Louisville on Meetup.com. Every Sunday at 4pm/5pm they offer beginners ballroom classes. The types of beginner classes change monthly. For January they offered Tango and East Coast Swing. You can do one class for $10 or two classes for $15. Dance Louisville has additional group classes a couple nights a week and they also offer private lessons. After your first group class you can even get a 30 minute private dance lesson for free! Our instructor very friendly and easy to follow. You learn leader steps, then follower steps, then you partner up with music to practice. You get plenty of time to cover the basic steps and they make sure everyone has a chance to ask questions or get more personalize practiced. In an hour time, about 45 minutes is the lesson and the last 15 minutes are used as free practice with music. My partner and I picked up the moves and had a really great time trying something new. My partner was originally just going for my interest but by the end grabbed the dance calendar and said he was willing to come back. read more

As a first time dance student I had no idea what I was getting myself into but after speaking with Joann when I scheduled my appointment I felt much less intimated. Before my lesson Megan called, my instructor, & made me feel at even more ease before my lesson. I scheduled a few privates so my wife & I could have some fun doing something we'd never done before. The instruction was wonderful & valuable. I only wish I had recorded the lessons because you forget things once you leave until your next lesson. But, Megan did record us on the last private so we could see it all come together. The people there are super friendly & don't treat you like an outsider because you don't have dance skills. There's no wonder why people call it Louisville's Favorite Dance Studio. Go check em out. They have good first time offers for new students. This is absolutely THE funnest dance studio in town! Hands down they have the best dancers, teachers, and dance events in Louisville. You will feel more confident about your dancing because the teachers really know how to break stuff down in a way that makes the most sense for you. Everyone is also incredibly friendly, and there's a real sense of friendship among the students and teachers. My wife and I met at Dance Louisville, and most of our wedding guests were our friends from there, and even the owner agreed to MC the wedding for us. Great guy! My father and I had the pleasure of taking Dance Lessons for my upcoming wedding at Dance Louisville with Kelly. Wow! I cannot recommend Kelly enough. I cannot recommend this studio enough. The woman who answers the phones (Joanne-- spelling?) is amazing. She scheduled around my dad's and my schedule with ease. My father lives in Columbus, OH and round tripped the drive twice a week for our hour lesson (and dinner/lunch). Joanne had no problems scheduling in advance for this! My dad and I are not the most rhythmic individuals, but Kelly was there to always encourage us. We did the 10 lesson package and needed all 10! ;). The studio is clean, Kelly was professional and upbeat and the rest of the dance instructors were always encouraging when we were learning our dance. My dad and I did more of a "fun" dance routine and were concerned we couldn't pull it off. Let's just say, Kelly made it happen. Our last dance lesson included her other staff members cheering us on to make us really know how it would be--- oh thank you all for that! I haven't gotten to share our dance from the wedding with Kelly, but I cannot wait to do so! The gift package provides my now husband and I a couple of lessons, which was more than I'd ever ask for. Dance Louisville is an amazing place where positive energy and experiences happen. If you want to learn how to dance, be it for any reason (socially, a special event, performances, competitions, personal growth, etc.), then I would recommend you begin your journey with this company. You will probably find that no other studio is necessary. This place has a beautiful dance floor, large windows that let the natural light in, a friendly staff that wants to place your needs first, and instructors that know what they are teaching. I also have to applaud their marketing and promotions department as the owner tries very hard to keep his studio connected with the community. The facebook page is active, there are weekly e-mails about upcoming events, and I really like their logo. I know it's a Dance Louisville event when I see that image. As far as my personal experience, I first came to this studio a few months ago for group classes. This is a great place to start if you are a beginner (like me), as I felt comfortable and welcome for all of the reasons I stated above. I instantly loved learning from my instructors and became hooked. Soon after I started coming to the Thursday night swing dances, and then to the other social events hosted by the studio. I found myself wanting to social dance more and now I'm out every weekend looking for a place to practice! Dance has become my passion and the next step I've taken is for private lessons from the instructors. I also had a positive experience performing with other students in the spring showcase, a sort of recital that the studio puts on twice a year. I've only been coming for a few months but the relationships I've formed with the owner, the teachers, and all of the other students is something that I'm truly grateful for. It has changed me as a person for the better. I'll tell you a little secret. Dance Louisville is a place to come for dance, but it's also much more than that. It's a place to come when you need to find yourself. It's a place to come for personal growth. A place to push yourself to be the best person you can be. A place for new beginnings and friendships. Dance Louisville is the most open minded and receptive dance studios I have been to. I have heard about a lot of other places around the Louisville area. I have not had dance lessons for years since I was a small child but I wanted to get back into it. I didn't want an intimidating class, but I wasn't a beginner either. I was blown away by Dance Louisville on my first visit! We walked in and at least 4 different people come up to us to say hello! You could tell there were some regular students, but that didn't stop them from being welcoming. The dance class was well organized and very fun. They broke down the steps and explained the moves in detail. The instructors are very good at what they do! We have been going for 6 weeks now and are totally addicted! I have tried this studio also and nobody danced with me at the parties. The owner wasn't nice and never talked to me at all.

The atmosphere is warm and inviting. The group classes teach basic steps so you can learn at your own pace. The instructors are all great! They are very encouraging and will work with you so you better understand. If you want to compete, they will help you do it. If you just want to do an awesome dance at your wedding, they will help you do it. If you have a goal, let them know and they will help you attain it! There is no expectation that you have to be a great dancer when you come through the doors. Also, the group classes are priced very reasonably. The best deal in town! If you are looking to learn how to dance, socialize, de-stress, and exercise, I would highly suggest coming out to Dance Louisville for a class! But be warned...once you come in, you may never want to leave! :-) read more
