This was our first time visiting Dance Trends because my daughter had a Pointe Shoes fitting appointment. We loved it as soon as we walked in. It's a very cozy store with lots of items for dancers including clothing, dance attires, undergarments, recovery shoes, bags, and even plushies. We headed upstairs to get fitted and the young man who helped us was very nice and patient. He took his time making sure that my daughter found shoes that truly fit her, that were comfortable and that would help her excel in her practice. I appreciate that a lot because I don't know anything about ballet but he was detailed and patient explaining to us what she needed and even how she should but the shoes on and store them. I came looking for some nice jazz shoes and I asked, "I'm looking for some jazz shoes that are good for turning." Immediately, this worker is condescending to me and says, "All MY jazz shoes are good for turning." Weird! But I ignore it, but this man stays rude and condescending towards me the entire time, and checking out, he is only nice to my dad. Overall, not great, but the guy who was first at the cashier seemed kinda nice I guess. read more

We had a ballet drama. My daughter & I came to Houston from Los Angeles for a ballet audition at Houston Ballet this MORNING. We got in late last night, and when unpacking her stuff, she discovered she had somehow forgotten her pointe shoes! OMG. Her perfectly fitting, perfectly broken-in favorite pair ever. Dance Trends opened at 10am and they had 2 people working and 2 pointe shoe fittings first thing... I called in a panic, and the girl on the phone was so kind and calm and she asked all the right questions while we were en route there. They don't sell the same shoe model, but we walked right in and had an expert fitting in record time, trying about 6-7 pairs before getting it right. I am SO grateful! They saved Francesca's audition! What a wonderful experience we had, and I could tell we were in expert hands through the whole process. Wow! We rushed in and zoomed out of there, but we were so impressed with this BEAUTIFUL store and their huge inventory. We came here looking for gymnastic's clothing for my 8 year old. I tried Amazon twice before coming here and both times ordered the wrong size. I learned it is best to come here and walk away with something that actually fits the way it should. There were more customers than employees and they seemed to make it work. The store is very clean, large selection and good layout(1st and 2nd floor). The lady that helped us went above and beyond and we walked out very happy campers. My 8 year old was very satisfied and we will come back for any dancing or gymnastics clothing. read more

if it was just once, I wouldn't say anything, but every time we come in whoever wants is dealing with the shoes is extremely rude and acts like they don't want customers. This is a store that many little girls go to and not the way I would want my daughter to learn to treat others. read more

Location was very clean and had a lot of beautiful affordable outfits. The young lady working was extremely helpful. I'm usually a pretty decisive shopper on my own but she gave great suggestions and fitted my little girl with her ballet shoes. Made us feel very welcome. She even made note of our purchases in their system for any future visits. Would totally recommend. read more

What a gem. They do custom shoe fittings for everyone so you know you are getting exactly what you need and everyone we spoke with was incredibly nice. One note, they do charge $10 for a shoe fitting if you don't purchase because of people fitting and then shopping on the Internet. It took a while, so that seems reasonable to me. Very affordable prices and a wide selection of clothing for kids up through young adults. We were able to get everything we needed I one easy trip. I know I'll be back soon. read more

This store has almost everything you need for dance class. I am giving it a negative review because their head staff is rude. I went there looking for an item and I described what I needed to her and instead of helping me she said we don't carry that. Once I kept on describing what I needed and that others had purchased it there she then corrected me on my terminology rudely and said they had it. She then asked me to wait while she helped others. She should have asked another staff member to help me. (Literally, there were 2 staff members standing behind the counter just standing there.). I will be purchasing my items online from now on. I choose not to support this small business because they obviously forgot that customer service is important. Plus, the prices online are cheaper. read more

I've been coming to this store for the past 3 years and have spent a lot of money on high-end dance wear for my daughter. Last Friday I purchased a few items and inquired about special tights for my daughters recital in May. I was not sure which would fit and contemplated on buying both S & M pairs. The lady at the counter (Anne) said they did not issue refunds however, they did exchanges if an item did not fit. So I purchased 3 pairs of tights (all the same size) and tried one on my daughter when I got home. They were too small but since she did not have another pair for her dance class that weekend I had to make them work. Today, I took back the other two unopened, unused pairs and kindly asked Anne to please exchange them for a medium size. Anne immediately became very hostile and nasty, she did not let me finish my sentence. I was puzzled because she was the one that told me 3 days prior that they do exchanges but not returns. I asked to speak to a manager because I thought it was a simple request, I was not looking for a refund just for a bigger size and I didn't understand why she was being so rude. She snatched the two pairs from my hand and ran upstairs to speak to "Lisa" the owner and when she stormed back downstairs she began to raise her voice and tell me that I must have missed understood her and she held up their return slip (which does not mention anything about exchanges). She kept repeating over and over that she was well aware of their return policy and continued to be rude to me. I asked again if there was someone else I could speak to and she said that this onetime they were able to exchange them and slammed the packages on the counter. I was taught to respect my elders and I would never treat a paying customer the way she treated me. I will NEVER return to this store, there are plenty of stores in the Houston area with better customer service than this place. read more

I took my daughter to Dance Trends on Memorial Dr. for a pointe shoe fitting and was very impressed with the time, attention and patience they showed. Vanessa spent over an hour and a half with my daughter letting her try on many types of shoes, explaining the difference among them, the various parts of the shoes, how they are made, etc. In the end, my daughter walked away with shoes that were really suited for her feet, not just a brand that someone thinks is good. I will definitely return for future purchases even though I live inside the loop. read more

This store only offers "STORE CREDIT ONLY.....THEY DO NOT OFFER REFUNDS". I purchased a pair of shorts and the sales associate told me if the color doesn't work I could return them as long as the tags remain intact. I tried to return them (never worn, tags intact), however, the store would issue a store credit only. They did not have the color I needed, so I was forced to keep the shorts. It would have been a better experience if they would have been nice about it, but they were not. read more
