Moves are broken down into easy-to-follow steps and the atmosphere is super friendly and fun. I've taken salsa with Michael and Eliana (great instructors and genuinely nice people) and bachata with studio owner Nicole and Alayn (also great instructors and really nice, genuine people). You can tell that Nicole, Alayn, Michael, and Eliana truly love salsa/bachata and are passionate about sharing that love with other people through their classes. It's a safe space with wonderful teachers and fellow students for you to learn and practice. I can't say enough wonderful things about how welcoming Nicole, Michael, and Eliana all are. You don't need to come with a partner either. Everyone rotates partners constantly and you even have a chance to dance 1:1 with a teacher at the end! Dancer University with Nicole and Alan was such a great experience. I had never taken a dance class in my life, and I knew that four weeks wouldn't cut it for me, so I signed up for the three month Bachata: From Zero to Hero class. I attended every class save one and went to all the practices afterward too. After about six weeks, I started feeling a lot more comfortable doing social dancing, and a couple of the people I saw there remarked how much better I'd gotten. I had never danced (ever!) before I started taking Salsa in June 2022 and haven't stopped since. I took the bachata 1 class with Nicole in the fall and it was super great. Because I travel a lot I did miss a few classes so I am thinking of registering again next year. You learn a lot in each class. The pace is adapted to the group. There are always a good balance between leads and follows and the best thing is that free practice sessions are offered every Saturday afternoon if you have enrolled in one program. Nicole and Lior are INCREDIBLE teachers! I have taken several salsa series on the westside and a few random bachata lessons and Dancer University is by far the best instruction I've ever had. Both Nicole (Bachata 1) and Lior (Salsa 2) break down every move so it is easy to understand and learn. They also give extremely valuable insight on how to pick up on guys cues when out social dancing, which is my ultimate goal. I started taking private lessons with Nicole and her partner since fall of 2020 to improve my technique while social dancing has been on a hiatus during Covid. She is really good at going at my pace and slowing down or speeding up when I need it. It's been invaluable to fine tune technique while getting rid of bad habits. Couldn't recommend these online lessons more!! Most classes I've taken, the follow doesn't say a word. Whats special about Dancer University if that the female teacher is not just an accessory. She gives the full explanation of how both the lead and the follow should feel. I love that they show what each move looks like separate from one another so that we can clearly see what each role is doing. The ladies styling touches were also a great addition. I bought the online program a couple months ago and my partner and I are LOVING it! Nicole breaks things down in a way that is really easy to learn from. We really like the way the lessons are formatted with time focused on the lead's footwork, the follow's footwork, and plenty of practice time built in with great music. I was so surprised how much fun I'm having learning Bachata here. Nicole takes the time to go over every detail of the new moves and then gives you a one on one with her to Make sure you got it down. She's sweet, kind and her enthusiasm is infectious ( can you still use that word post Covid?) I first saw Bachata a year ago, but couldn't find a studio open during Covid.
