I kept stumbling with my turns so he went out of his way during the lesson to work with me on them. After an hour lesson, the dance floor opened up until 2am to a spicy mix of salsa and bachata songs! As a first-timer I felt shy and sat in a corner but everyone (even the elite) were so friendly and continually asked me to dance (and taught me steps along the way)! I tend to be very uncomfortable when it comes to physical contact but dancing with everyone felt rather natural! Such a lovely experience- If I lived in or near Philly I would take classes here in a heartbeat. Will definitely be back for more salsa nights!

We were 20 minutes late…read more(to a 60-minute class....oops) but the academy was extremely accomodating and we just jumped right into the leason! Our instructor was pleasant and patient, and we had a great time learning basic salsa moves!! The other people in the drop-in class were two other couples...so be warned as that generally seems the norm for classes. I think the academy also does "salsa parties" which are more free practice sessions. The time flew by, and we were encouraged to videotape the last 5 minutes of the instructor giving an overview of what we had learned, so we could come back after practicing on our own! Will definitely come back to use up the rest of our livingsocials....hopefully the classes aren't too repetitive so we'll see!

My daughter was taking lessons for a few years before performing in their Cinderella production at the age of 7. My daughter was able to see how her lessons came together in an actual show, and the older girls performing with her really supported her. In addition, I have seen not only the teachers, but the older company girls really support, guide and mentor the younger generation of dancers. In my opinion, this comradery is something that can not be found everywhere. The studio has become a second home to my daughter, and the faculty there continue to nurture and support my daughter's love of dance. My daughter's goal is to become a professional dancer, and I have no doubt Dance by Dinote studio will get her there!

It has gone downhill over the last few years. The fact that people have been at Chez for so long and are now running away in droves should tell you something. They will accept the poorest of behaviors as long as it benefits them. Find a place that lifts your kids up, not tears them down. Find a place where your kids will be nurtured and their voices heard, not pushed away and screamed at for actually attending classes. Newer teachers have zero classroom control and seasoned teachers look so beat up by the owners they are just hanging on. It has been a sad decline. It is okay if teachers miss classes for personal events but the kids are shamed for doing so. They have no respect for these young girls and ladies. She was a pro at getting the kids involved and if they didn't want to be involved (we had one or two who were too cool for dance school) she didn't push them at all. Zumba is great--I've taken it with both Darlene and Caitlyn. I appreciate the different types of Zumba dances with each instructor. I hope to get to more boot camp classes soon. I took the piloxing class tonight. It was good but I think I need to do it again to really see if I liked it. Class sizes have ranged from 13-25 for all that I've tried, Boot Camp, Zumba and Piloxing.
