My rating is on the theater itself. While it is old and needs renovations, they *usually* have great shows. We have seen some amazingly talented people there and have enjoyed almost everything I've seen except... I got to see Hollystalk or how a mistake led to a great Christmas. Welllll, that has to be the weirdest, worst play I ever saw. We walked out after first act. Oh and don't bring the kids as there are some vulgar references from the star in drag. read more

For those who want to see a musical or theatrical act, the Ritz is great for South Jersey locals. The theatre is small and can closely be compared to a fanciful movie theater set up. It accommodates a small venue of people. The acts are talented and this small-sized venue has big time entertainment for fans and people who want to see a show but don't want to deal with going out of town/Philly/NYC. The parking was a bit of a problem since I didn't see a lot. My one tip is to come early. There is a concession stand for snacks, drink and other food. I love the Ritz! In case you missed it, I LOVE THE RITZ! First, it's a beautiful historic theatre. It has its wrinkles, which should only serve to remind us to donate to amazing theaters so we can keep them open. Second, the shows are amazing. The set design is first class, so are the actors. I'm amazed that a small town can pull this off. Finally, this is a space for all of us. My non-binary kid has enjoyed their experience here for several years. No judgement, just dedicated folks that teach kids how to perform, with a nice side note of confidence and self esteem that comes along with unconditional acceptance. Gay, straight, in between, there is no judgement, just theatre and fun. This place is amazing, you should patronize them often and, if you are not local, start your own theater group- amazing things will come from it. read more

What a wonderful little theater! I'm not much of a theater goer myself, but in the past year I've found myself at the Ritz watching four different shows (maybe by this time I'm a regular theater goer...). Each time, I can safely say I had a fantastic time. The theater itself is quite quaint from the outside, and since it's seemingly in the middle of nowhere, it really stands out. The interior is very old-timey in a beautiful and classic sort of way. All of the staff I've ever had contact with have been helpful and pleasant (shout out to the girls who run the ticket booth for always being awesome), making the experience great from the get go. Bruce gives hilariously awkward introductions before the shows, and having seen a few of them, it's worth a mention. Performance wise, I've seen some real talent on stage. No this is not Broadway, but honestly, I could see some of the performers on the big stage in NYC. Casting is usually good, and it's obvious that the performers enjoy being on the stage (extra special shout out to the cast of Promises, Promises). For amateur (semi-professional? I'm unsure) theater the Ritz is definitely worth a visit! Looking forward to the 2017 season for sure. read more

Having worked in theater for more then 3 decades, I can say, without a doubt, that this is the best small theater in the Southern New Jersey area! (I am not affiliated, and have never worked this location ,I work Philly & NYC). Every show I have seen here is well worth the ticket. They know their limits, and they push just enough to make the shows interesting, flavored to their own, and never overdone! I am always overjoyed at the products they choose. read more

I took my kids to see a production and we all had a good time. I would have given a 5-star review had a Trump comment not been uttered by one of the cast members as a "joke" during the production. Something to remember - People pay $ to be entertained. We don't pay to listen to political garbage. It was truly off-putting to hear a reference about the recent election. NOT GOOD. read more

This was our second visit to the Ritz, having seen Shrek the Musical a few years ago. My wife daughter and I attended the final performance of "Disney's Beauty and the Beast " on Sunday 8/6/2017 @ 2:00 p.m. Just a bit about the theatre. It is an historical landmark and harkens back to Trenton theatres like the Olden and Greenwood where many a baby boomer cut their teeth on movies with double feature .25 cent Saturday matinees. Not a bad seat in the house, although a nice upgrade would be replacing the seats during the off season. A nice supply of treats, candy and drinks at fair affordable prices are available. All staff members were friendly, warm, and willing to assist you to your seats, and answer any questions you may have had. Parking is iffy but we were lucky enough to find a spot on the street right across from the theatre. ( FREE !!!! ). All I can say about the performance was.....AMAZING!!!!!!. As limited as they are for space they pulled off the magic usually reserved for Broadway productions. Scenery, ensembles special effects and the leads in the show were nothing short of NYC productions, and all three tickets cost a grand total of $96,00. Nowadays you cant see a B'way show at mid premium seating for less than $175.00 a ticket ! All of the cast were excellent with a special shout out to Jennifer Garcia who was a delight as Belle. She uncannily sounded exactly like the actress who voiced Belle in the Academy Award nominated animated feature for Best picture before a separate category for full length animated feature was established. The score was "canned," but I personally preferred this to a so-so 7 or 8 piece live orchestra I heartily recommend you give yourself a treat and check out the Ritz to form your own opinion, but I'm sure you will be very satisfied with the entire experience. This was the final show of the season but they have a great lineup for 2017-2018 season. Highly recommended from a former lead singer in an all purpose band ( Clubs, Weddings, etc. ) for over thirty years. I'm no expert but I know good talent when I hear and see it read more

Great little theater to see live performances - last night we went to see Boeing Boeing- this was as good as it gets- I often go see plays performed at the Forrest in Philadelphia and this was as good if not better than the plays I have seen there. I am no push over when it comes to the theater- Ive seen Tony Randal in Music Mann, Yul Brenner in the king and I ; Zero Motzel in his last performance of"the Fiddler on the roof" and yet - this little town play house seems to pull off a production as nice and convincing as the greatest actors in the field- Craig Hutchings was fantastic - as was Jennifer zellers played the part of Judith and had the crowd in stitches- it was FANTASTIC and well worth a trip to NJ !!! read more
