I was referred to Dr. Dane by my dentist in order to get his second opinion regarding optional root canal procedure. I have never gone through that kind of treatment before, and needless to say that I was a bit worried as to what to expect. Dr. Dane ran some tests and it didn't take him too long to determine that I have to go through the root canal treatment. He took some time to explain to me (with drawings!) my tooth's condition, and showed me what he would like to do. Each time I had a question he was more than happy to patiently answer, without being condescending or pressed. After the explanation part was over I had a very clear picture of what is happening. Throughout the session he made sure to explain each and every step, and I gradually felt more and more at ease. I knew I'm in good hands. The treatments were painless, clean and were performed at the highest level. Both him and I were surprised to find out that we will probably need to schedule some extra sessions because of my extra hidden canal (apparently that is something rare), so I know I was some 'tough nugget' to handle. Still, he took as much time as needed to thoroughly go over all my canals and made sure that it's perfectly done. My over all experience was very good. He even talked a bit in my mother tongue to make me feel at home! In almost every session the waiting time wasn't too long and the receptionist and his assistant were very courteous and efficient. Also classical music was played in the waiting area, which sounded very pleasant to my ears. I know for sure that this is a professional I will gladly recommend on with my eyes closed. I'm not a person who makes a habit of leaving reviews, but this experience was so easy that I had to. I researched Dr. Dane before I visited him, and was very lucky that he was within my network. First of all, the office is clean. The staff is extremely friendly. I went there for a root canal consultation after my dentist had referred me to a different specialist, but chose Dr. Dane based on my research and the fact that he was closer. If you want to visit a specialist who makes you feel empowered, go to Dr. Dane. He explained that I did not need root canals, why and told me my other options-a temporary medicated filling and another filling that just needs to be replaced. I went to him with all the concerns I had, and he provided me with the tools I needed to make an informed decision. He is honest, trustworthy and made me feel secure in my own ability to make choices about dental work (which, let's face it: can be anxiety inducing). He takes much more into consideration, which is a testament to his previous experience as a general dentist before becoming a specialist. He was thorough but to the point, yet all my questions and concerns were answered and quelled. Dr Dane was incredible with his work. I came to him after sustaining trauma, and had two teeth that were discolored and required root canals due to the trauma. I was not sure about how to come up with a treatment plan, and Dr. Dane worked to make sure that I was getting everything I needed--not just the root canals. He is meticulous with his work and won't rush just to get you out of the office. He also not one to perform unnecessary work -- I lost sensitivity In some other teeth, but he advised me to wait before doing anything to them. I also thought I would definitely need cosmetic work immediately due to discoloration on the teeth requiring the root canals. Dr. Dane worked magic by bleaching the inside of the tooth after doing the root canal. The discoloration is completely gone. I trust Dr. Dane's work and would highly recommend him to anyone looking for quality work. If I could give 10 stars to Dr. Dane, that would not be enough! He is a wonderful practitioner and a compassionate human being. I was very stressed out at the prospect of having a root canal. He treated me with professional and personalized care -- and was not judgmental of my fear in any way. He was completely honest with regard to what I could expect, and took every care to keep me informed throughout he process. Dr. Dane did everything he could to minimize my discomfort both during and after the procedures. He even followed called me back twice on a Friday evening just to make sure I was comfortable after a visit. I was referred to Dr. David Dane for his experience and specialism in dealing with root canal re-treatments. Dr. Ahmed, the referring dentist, stated that I would be in the best hands with Dr. Dane and I certainly was. The re-treatment was a delicate matter and required several visits but he took me through every step along the way, giving me confidence in his ability to resolve the problem. His bedside manner was also very calming and reassuring. He constantly asked me if I was okay or if I was in any pain; and he took time to ensure that the procedure was done thoroughly. He was also very helpful in taking me through the billing process, reviewing my options and working with my insurance to get it all sorted. I have had traumatic visits to dentists in the past, but this was the complete opposite. Dr. Dane is a dedicated, super-conscientious and superb tchnician. Not voluble, he doesn't encourage volubility in his patients as he concentrates on his work. Thoughtful and courteous (kinda old-world), his pain control is nec plus ultra: between the injected (pre-numbed beforehand) anaesthesia and the tablets you swallow before he begins work and after you go home, there was no pain. (Ok a twinge but we are talking about a root canal). Especially in the begining, of my root canal work, he asked fairly regularly whether I was OK. My first root canal 10 years ago is still troublefree which is why I trusted him to do the second.. He has been doing root canals (and working at the Columbia Dental School) for the intervening ten years: practice makes perfect. Having done a root canal in the past prior to now, I was a bit nervous, because I know how uncomfortable root canals can be. But Dr. Dane did a really great job. My root canal was done in 3 sessions because of how infected my tooth was. Dr. Dane made me feel extremely comfortable every single session. He always asked if I was ok and made sure I wasn't feeling any pain. I think he is extremely thorough and is very knowledgeable. I would refer him to anyone, any day, anytime. For the people complaining about pricing because they don't have dental coverage/dental coverage fees. Common sense would tell you to find dental clinics in your area, find someone that charges less (you get what you pay for) or get yourself better insurance...duh. My dentist recommended Dr. Dane, told me he'd give me an unbiased evaluation, and said he wouldn't pressure me to have root canal therapy if he didn't think it would be worthwhile. She was right. After an initial evaluation (Dr. Dane told me that the cost of the evaluation would be applied to the cost of the root canal procedure if I chose to have it), I needed 4 separate visits for Dr. Dane to eliminate my infection and complete the treatment. Was it fun? No. But Dr. Dane is calm, deliberate, thorough and always made sure I had enough novocaine to keep my tooth pain free while he worked. Bottom line: if, God forbid, you need root canal therapy you'd be in good hands by selecting Dr. Dane. It's wonderful to be able to chew food again without worrying about the consequences. read more

I had a mysterious condition above two teeth, with my dentist's and periodontist's best guess being a lateral microfracture in the bone, but the imaging was ambiguous. I would need implants. Dr. Dane could accept this, but wanted to poke around further on the slim chance I could avoid surgery (his mantra). He was right: a double root canal, with one root traveling in two directions! All of this slowly and painlessly corrected over four, long appointments -- and boy, am I grateful. Dr. Dane talked through all his procedures, asked repeatedly if I had reached a pain threshold, medicated only when needed, and finally filled the roots solidly. Saturday evening, 3/17/2018, my front tooth, which is actually a crown, began to ache. Naturally, I was out of State and could not find a dentist open on Sunday. By Monday, I was in great pain. I would definitely recommend Dr. David Dane, because he is professional and does excellent work and his office is very clean and quiet. I found Dr. Dane via Google search and I needed a root canal work. When I called, I got a response right away and he was able to see me visit within few days. When I arrived to his clinic, I didn't have to wait at all for him to see me. In my case, the root canal was a complicated procedure, because I waited to long to take care of my tooth, however, Dr. Dane was able to finish his work in just two visits. I was referred by my dentist to Dr. Dane for a root canal procedure. Never having had one before I was dreading it but Dr. Dane and his staff were able to handle things promptly and with very minimal discomfort across the visits and follow ups involved. Was seriously expecting much worse. I highly recommend Dr. David Dane if you need a root canal! He is one of the most thorough physicians I have ever visited. Not only did he do a great job, but he has a phenomenal bedside manner. Dr. Dane treated me for a root canal and I have to say that he was excellent. He communicates with the patient to a very exacting measure. Explaining every step of the procedure prior to beginning the work and as he goes along. He constantly ask how are you feeling, are you okay. I was referred by Doctor Greenberg to Doctor Dane because I had an infection on a bridge I had done a year ago. Once I got to his office he treated me with delicacy. What I really liked was that while he was doing the procedure he would always warm me on every move so I would not panic. I had a huge infection on the bridge and he was able to cure it and make my mouth feel better. I really like how I was treated in his office and how personal he is.
