The other people on the bus and our bus driver were all great. We all played a "Name that movie soundtrack" game out to the marina and back which was SUPER fun. Once we got on the boat, the staff were all friendly and great and once everyone was comfortably seated on board we headed out. Now the Alaskan coast line was INCREDIBLE and coming from Maine, I fully understand that you cannot predict whale activity. We were out on the water for about two hours and there were a few tail sightings, which were disappointing to me, but I completely accepted with a shrug. The interesting part though, was that everyone else on the boat was FREAKING OUT with happiness over those few tail sightings. They were running to the side of the boat and stretching over with their binoculars, they were laughing and smiling and basking in the Alaskan sun. Clearly the problem was mine! What's wrong with me?

While didn't see Orca's and it was rainy and had trouble finding whales, we did find 3 and this proves that nature is unpredictable. What earned them five stars, and an endearing place in my tiny heart, is the crew. Captain Dan was good but what made this trip for me was the naturalist Kaelyn (hope got it right). She was amazing, had a wealth of knowledge, and extremely easy to talk to. She shared the passion she has for wildlife, particularly whales, and spoke at length about their behaviors here and in Hawaii. She really is fantastic. Our boat had a small group size and surprised they didn't cancel it, very small. The crew on this trip, and my prior one last year, couldn't stop talking about the company itself, a small locally owned group which has excellent customer service, truly exceptional. They also Treat their employees like the gold they are Many thanks to them for a great tour. While didn't see as much as had hoped, and while weather didn't cooperate, it's a fantastic trip and time. Friendly, outgoing, w/ lots of knowledge of the area. She made the ride to & from the Yacht seem like it was shorter than it was. Jen (our captain) & Katie (naturalist) were wonderful. These ladies know how to make a trip enjoyable. Was almost like family outing. Although the whale spotting started off slow, it really picked up in the 2nd half. I had the best time, even though on this adventure I was the only Man. 2 Ladies, 1 Lady and her Daughter, and then my Wife and I. Would do this tour again in a heartbeat, and if I could request these two bonus points for sure. Mark and Lucas were extremely knowledgeable and entertaining. They explained the habits and other information of the humpback whales. They were funny and engaging. We saw a group of about 8-10 whales. Mark and Lucas explained their behaviors and what to look for. Even on the trip back to the dock when they could have called it a day they continued to share information and answer questions. It melted our hearts when a little girl of about 4 came up to ask Mark a question. He knelt down on one knee and listened to her.
