Also, while on the glacier, they let us drink the water and I was seasick during our cruise and when I drink the water I was healed. The helicopter is way better than the ones at home in India. We saw other ships out on the water that seemed a lot rougher in condition, and just less professional, so I'm glad that we paid a premium to be on the ship that we were on! I'd definitely recommend booking with this team, they also seem to be a subcontractor for Juneau Lighthouse Tours, so booking with them may work as well.

I can't imagine all of the other operators were breaking the rules. Even with 25× zoom on my phone, I couldn't get clear photos, and binoculars were almost required. Whales are plentiful in Alaska, so finding them isn't the issue--the viewing distance is. Staying so far away made this much less exciting than other whale watching tours I've been on. I would choose a different operator next time - sadly we don't know when will we be back to Alaska.

Even though I got stuck in the middle of a zip line, between our zip line adventure and our visit…read moreto the sled dog musher's camp in the same day, it was hard to imagine a more perfect day in Alaska. The trip here started with a motor boat trip past pretty pretty scenery (see the picture I uploaded of a stream trickling down the mountain) to an abandoned gold mine. So far it's sounding like a Scooby Doo episode, but sadly there's no Ghost of Yukon Joe scaring off young whippersnappers from stealin' his claim. From there you're driven in an ATV up the steepest incline ever (30 degrees?) to the zip lines. This was our first time ever zip lining and I was afraid I'd be afraid, but I felt very calm the entire time and very safe, and was more interested in looking around while in the air. We considered zip lining on our honeymoon in Thailand - I'm sure the place in Thailand was insured, right? - but we decided to do it in the States instead so we wouldn't die. Our two guides carefully showed us everything we needed to know and then we were off, flying through the rainforests. We were told some segments took 30 seconds to zip across. I'm not sure if that's an exaggeration or if time felt like it passed faster while we were doing it. The highest segment was 180 feet off the ground. So yeah, I did get stuck in the middle of one of the lines. My glove got caught in the mechanism at the top of the zip line. Thankfully I wasn't scared - I just thought it was funny - and one of the guides rescued me. Our group of 8 - 6 strangers and ourselves - was pretty awesome. It even felt like the instructors wanted to hang with us, like we were the coolest group ever. The instructors warned us about banging into each other since we're all attached to the same lines, and after that there were a lot of banging jokes. It was noted that if you don't move your hand away in time after zipping down one of the lines you could get "finger banged." Our guides were really fun and one (Tyler?) would punctuate sentences by suddenly flying off down a zip line. If you thought smashing a phone down was a good way to punctuate a sentence, you've never seen someone suddenly fly away. You can bring your camera (hence all my photos attached to this Yelp review). You can also have one of the guides shoot a video for you of what it's like to zip down one of the lines. At the end of the zip lines there's a really high suspension bridge that makes for great photo ops, and then you get to repel down from the platform. When it was all over we were given medals and a snack. We felt like contestants on The Amazing Race for the afternoon.

Maggie and Riley were great guides through the course and encouraged anyone that was feeling a little scared. I mean, you're hundreds of feet up trees with a cable holding you! The excursion started with a a boat ride to the beach and then you take a short walk to the base camp to get all geared up and ready to go! After that, you take a ride in a Mercedes 4x4 truck, up the mountain not before you take a group photo, though : and from there you take a slightly steep short hike up the mountain to arrive at your 1st practice zipline. After you get the practice line out of the way, it's all awesomeness that follows! The views are amazing and the thrill of zipping on a 180ft line at 35mph is indescribable! Oh, and the suspension bridges are pretty awesome too...although they were the scariest part for me lol. My husband and 14 y/o daughter also did the excursion and loved it as well. We'd do it again and you won't regret taking a few hours out of your day to have this once in a lifetime experience! P.S. You even get a nice medal at the end of the tour to prove you "survived"! :) Great touch!

The guides knew their stuff, and helped our group feel safe and comfortable, despite the choppy waves. They gave us some great guidance about steering and controlling the kayaks. They were so low key and fun it was almost as if we were a group of 6 friends going out for a paddle. They pointed out landmarks and we even saw eagles feeding on the shore - awesome. We also caught 11 king salmon which we could not keep and 5 pink salmon which are not good now because they are dying( getting ready to spawn). We also saw about 20 humpback whales and a pod of 3 Orca whales. We had so much fun. We will book them again our next trip to Juneau. Allen Marine Tours was fantastic. The boat picked us up directly from the ship as we were leaving Juneau around 1pm, and brought us back around 6pm. That really extended the day in a nice way. The boat moved at a relaxed pace through Stephen's Passage and into the Endicott Arm. The weather was glorious, something money can't buy! The scenery as we passed miles of coniferous rainforest and snow covered peaks was absolutely incredible. So calm and quiet, we never saw a single cabin or human on the shore. I felt so relaxed I napped twice. The guides were energetic and friendly, and very knowledgable. They interacted warmly with the guests, took pictures and answered every single question. They weren't in a hurry. When two bears were spotted, they stopped the boat for several minutes. The onboard snacks were actually -- dare I say it -- inexpensive! The crew provided coffee and hot chocolate free of charge, as well as warm donut holes. We spent a substantial amount of time up close to the glacier, probably close to an hour. We saw it calve several times. It's so massive and gorgeous, you don't understand the scale until you're close to it. Overall, worth every penny. Allen Tours made it special, relaxed, warm and memorable. It was the highlight of our trip.

Sailed via the Norwegian Encore as a solo doing the Mendenhall Glacier & Whale Quest, applied $50…read moreexcursion credit. Easy transport to the Mendenhall Glacier though the entrance was very busy with 6 cruise ships in port that day. Short walk to the visitor center, watch your time closely if doing a hike into the park, we had 4 guests not returning to our bus can only hope they used a related bus at departure time for the transfer to Statter Harbor. Not exactly a retreat into nature because of the crowds but still a nice stop. Not a long drive to Auke Bay, Statter Harbor and our transfer to the Whale Watching Boats. My excursion was on May 5th, weather was dry, and mostly clear. Complimentary warm beverages, and some nibbles were provided, plus other food and beverages for purchase, clean bathrooms, and sheltered seating on decks 1 and 2. Found my insulated jacket, gloves, and binoculars all useful, but even being sheltered it was cold on deck 2. The binoculars were helpful to view the humpbacks that we sighted, but so was the gps of my phone to know where the boat was in relationship to its surroundings, we sailed up the Saginaw Channel. In my opinion the sailing component makes sense if you enjoy the idea of a cruising the channel, with marine sightings as a bonus. Overall a good experience with the crew proving insights into this area of Alaska during Whale Watching component. Got back to my cruise ship post normal dinner service, but the Encore extended buffet hours, and I grabbed some food via the Local / Pub.
