I moved and I needed a new eye doctor. I heard of Drs. Daniel and Davis through coworkers so I thought I would try them out for my annual exam. I think I made a great decision! Dr. Love was very professional and thorough in the exam and made me feel that she had my eye health at the forefront of her attention. I didn't have any change to my contact prescription, but Dr. Love recommended a different brand of contacts to help with the dryness I was feeling. She really seems to know what she is talking about and I trust her judgement. If you need an eye doctor in the North County coastal area Drs. Daniel and Davis would be a great choice! read more

With our eight children, my wife and I have benefited greatly over the past 18 years because of the excellent services and wise counsel that we have received from Doctors Davis, Daniels, Love, and Dukes. We have saved a LOT of money by taking their advice about surgeries and I am ready to pick up my eighth pair of lenses at the end of this week! At first I thought that the frames were a bit pricey, but I LOVE the light, easy fit and I will be getting my third set of lenses in them shortly; this turned out to be a real money saver and the most comfortable and attractive glasses that I can imagine. The technical staff members in this office are outstanding and I really appreciate the new Optoscan equipment that makes dilation unnecessary. These well trained professionals are unswervingly polite and can discuss what they are doing in a very understandable way so that even us UN-technical types can know what is going on! The front office staff are easy to talk with, informative, efficient, and friendly. At this point I cannot imagine going any place else for our (large) family's vision needs. read more

This review is about the optical department not necessarily the Doctor care, although if the company is in your name you should be concerned about the service your patients receive. This office is always very busy, and there is a lot of waiting...which would be fine if the service was excellent. But twice I've been ignored by the opticians. Last year I waited for about 1/2 hour to choose glasses and nobody acknowledged me. My prescription wasn't changing much and my glasses were still fine, so I just left. I went back this year and was not helped by an optician but there was a sales rep kind enough to help me choose new frames. It has now been 7 weeks since I had my eyes examined, ordered and PAID for new glasses. After 4 weeks I called and they said my glasses were in (No they did not call me). When I went to pick them up the glasses were not what I ordered. I paid for transition lenses and these were not (but I was treated like an idiot when they said sometimes it takes a while so the woman stood there shining a flashlight...still didn't transition). There was no apology for the error or inconvenience- just said they would send them back...they were kind enough to let me keep the empty case!!? Here we are 3 weeks later and STILL no phone call. I have to call to inquire. If I didn't continue to call every week they probably would not have even sent my order to the lab. So, after 7 weeks all I have is a $400 empty eye glass case. I work in retail...I understand mistakes happen and products are delayed, but this customer service is unacceptable. read more

All I really want out of an eye doctor is to see clearly. Why is that so hard? Why did it take so long to find a place that could give me that? Why? Because I wasn't going to see Dr. Love at Daniel and Davis Optometry. Ever since I went there, my eye sight has been clear. Went to many other eye doctors in the area and was left not seeing as clearly as I knew I could. Dr. Love explains everything clearly, and most importantly, you walk out with the right prescription for the clearest vision you can have. I've been depending on this place for 17 years, and it's always been a good experience. Now it's less of an intimate feel after they moved to a bigger office a few years ago, but Dr. Davis is still my man! He's been encouraging me to have lasik for years, which I find as evidence of good character since they'll likely have me spending less money there in the future. read more

Not impressed by anything at this office other than the lobby and the nice displays of eyeglass frames. Sorry for the long review. You can just skip to the last paragraph. First appointment, I was a few minutes early because I knew I had to fill out paperwork. Once done, I sat in their nice lobby for a half hour. The staff seemed indifferent to being so late. Nobody bothered to pick up the wrappers and empty water bottles that littered the table and chairs where I was asked to wait. Yuck. For my contact lens fitting, the doctor didn't try to hide that she was in a hurry. Everything felt unorganized and rushed. When I was asking questions, she was too busy on her computer to even look at me. The message was, "Hurry up and get out of here!" When they didn't have the lens I needed in stock, they said they would order it and call me when it was ready (a few days). After a week went by, with no call from them, I followed up. They had forgotten to order the lens and said it would be a couple of more days. Second appointment two weeks later and they saw me on time, but again very rushed. The doctor seemed indifferent and didn't really seem interested in doing what it takes to get a proper fit. At that point, I just wanted to cut my losses and get out. They never did call to ask if the second lens set was a good fit (Not surprised)! If you value your doctor taking the required time and steps to properly fit you, this is the wrong place to go. Wasting my time, being very disorganized and not keeping the waiting area immaculate (A doctor's office??) are additional annoyances. There are better options out there. I decided to find an ophthalmologist to fit my lenses and am very pleased with the results! read more

I have been seeing Dr. Susan Daniel for decades, in fact clear back when she was just starting her business with her husband. I have complex health issues and my eyes are really difficult when it comes to getting a comfortable prescription what I can actually see with. Great practice! All the doctors are super nice. My kids and i have been going here for years and I highly recommend it for all ages and needs. They have a cute little play place for the kids and the staff makes eye exams fun and not scary for them. The affiliated optician office is helpful and convenient. They take my insurance which is great and every penny saved helps. They were also super flexible when I needed a pair of emergency contacts after running out and I was traveling overseas. read more

Your will not find a more up to date knowledgeable eye doctor. I've had multiple appointments with both Dr. Davis (for annual check-ups) and Dr. Love (for Lasik post-op appointments) and really liked them both! My first visit was also with Dr. Dukes and I remember really liking her as well. They are friendly and genuinely seem to care about your eye health. I'm no expert (I'm an accountant) but they seem to do a thorough test of your eye health through use of several different machines as well as physically looking at your eyes. I also like that they are "high-tech" in that they use computers to record data and also confirm appointments via e-mail. I would highly recommend them to anyone! read more

So, I have never given a bad yelp review before. However, I feel like this one is necessary (specifically) for the doctors that work here. I was a patient one time, just to get my eyes checked to see if I needed computer glasses. My eyes are completely fine, almost perfect vision, they were just feeling a little tired after I was staring a screen for too long. I came in, and the front desk was okay. The girl working was not very friendly at all. Then I headed back for my exam, where after numerous tests, the doctor gave me the option to check my retina with a dilation test (where my pupils would be dilated for 5-6 hrs..making it hard to drive/see anything) or a more advanced test that did not require any dilation. Since I have never had an issues with vision, of course I did not want my eye sight to be affected like that, and I chose the more advanced test. He of course then mentions that it will be $40 extra that my insurance did not cover. Since my insurance pays for the exam 100%, I of course agreed, being my first time at the eye doctor, I thought it was my best option. After my exam, I picked out a frame, and went to cash out. They gave me a final total for the eye glass frames (40) and the special retina test (40), and it came out to a little over $80. Awesome, no big deal. I leave and wait a little over 2 weeks and then picked up my glasses. Now for the 1 star explanation: About 2 weeks after, I get a call from someone at the front desk. She didn't say her first name, was very short and obviously rude with me on the phone. She said, "I'm calling to collect the rest of your balance on your account." I responded that I didn't know what she was talking about, and looked through my phone to make sure my payment went through. Finding the payment (in full), I answered very confused asking her what she meant? She replied, "we're showing a balance here of $1.00, how would you like to take care of that today?" ONE DOLLAR. I was beyond confused and wanted an explanation. She continued to say, "you paid 1$ short of your total bills." Wait, this is my fault? Is it not YOUR fault for undercharging me by 1$? She continued to be short and not once apologized, saying it was not their fault, and once again asked how I would like to take care of that today. NO apologies, no "I am so sorry this may sound really silly, but it looks like we just undercharged you by 1$ on your visit with us, is it okay if I collect that today?" If only the conversation went a little more respectfully, I would have been more than happy to have paid right then and there. But, no, embarrassingly enough, the girl was rude, never once apologized for the INSANE inconvenience, and made me feel as if it were my fault for being undercharged. They really need to train a little more on their customer service skills, or they are going to be losing patients left and right. Trust me, the people at the front desk really put a face on the company, and they lost a family of 4 patients for that reason alone. read more

I went here to get new contacts and a prescription for glasses. I took three attempts to get the prescription right for the contacts in my left eye and after the prescription was right, I decided to fill the prescription they gave me for glasses. On my last visit, I asked if the changes to my contact prescription would change my prescription to my glasses and I was told no. So I filled the glasses prescription. I filled them at Costco to save money and noticed right away that something was wrong. I tried them for a week just to see if I needed to get use to them but that was not the case. I went back to the optometrists and they checked Costco's work. They gave it the ok so it must be the prescription. Again the left eye was not correct. When I made an appointment to have my eyes rechecked, the lady at the counter told me that I will need to pay an additional $120 office visit. I asked her why and she told me it was because they needed to figure out why my prescription changed. For eye health reason she said. My point was that I have been in the office three times because the prescription wasn't correct and why do I need to pay more when the prescription wasn't right? They had no problem making the adjustments to the contacts, why not the glasses? The Doctors were very nice but I think this is not right. Now I have glasses that are not right and I will need to someone else to exam my eyes again because my insurance was already used up at this office. read more

My son's experience with Dr. Daniels team has been positive. Due to his brain injury which occurred almost 7 years ago his vision has been limited. Very slow service! It took over 2.5 hours for simple eye exam! Glass selection not that good and overpriced. They seem more interested in selling glasses than completing exam. Prescription only had far but not reading numbers. Also, waited on phone for 5 minutes to make appointment. I don't recommend this office. They don't seem to care. read more

Extremely pleased with the service. The employees wanted to do a good job, not just pretend. I was impressed with Melisa Collins who handled my atypical situation excellently. I wanted lenses to help me better focus when playing pool. She was very knowledgeable and patient. I got the frames I wanted within what my insurance would cover.
