I've been to several dentists and hygienists throughout my life and I can honestly say I've never been more relaxed or comfortable with a dentist, hygienists or office staff as I have been on several visits to Dr. Appel. The staff is friendly, helpful and welcoming. Dr. Appel talks to you prior to any work being done, and explains it as well during his process. His hygienists do the same. Their concern for my comfort seems to be a high priority, which I totally appreciate. If I had found someone like Dr. Appel and his staff earlier in my life I would never have had the anxiety of going to the dentist that I did have for many years. read more

I had a broken crown replaced and kept biting the inside of my cheek. I live 3 hours away and made another trip to have it taken care of only to be told that "my cheek muscle needed to retrain itself to pull away from the tooth. ". The cheek biting continued for a year and I would do it as well in my sleep and randomly wake up. As a result I developed anxiety and at 60 something started grinding my teeth in my sleep. I did some research and found my problem is from the tooth being set too far outside and would have been an easy fix, instead of the bull crap reason I was given. Different doctor previously in that same office capped the exact same tooth originally and I had zero problems. Not to mention Appel "ground down" multiple other teeth getting them ready to be capped which is expensive and wasn't going to happen right away. Those teeth have sharp edges, cut my tongue and cause me constant problems. I feel like my insurance was milked, my teeth ruined, and as a result I have problems that were unnecessary. After I had a very bad experience and some complications with Dr. Kremer DDS in Chico which he was doing some implants on September 2019. I went to visit Dr. Appel, DDS in Oroville. I have been there before. Dr. Appel is professional, friendly, respectful, explains everything during the procedure. He has finished the implant procedure that Dr. Kremer started. I am so grateful to Dr. Appel. I regret that I did not go to him in the first place. I will not make that mistake again by going to Dr. Kremer. Dr. Appel will be my forever dentist. I recommend Dr. Appel, DDS to everyone. I believe strongly that he is the best dentist. You will also like the office ladies in his Dental Office. They are very friendly. read more

It has been a very long time (longer than I would like to admit) since I have been to the dentist. I had had very bad experiences in the past but going to Dr. Appel completely changed my attitude. I had two fillings done by Dr. Appel yesterday. I did not feel his injection at all! He was so gentle and patient. He continually asked if I was okay and I can honestly say, I was great throughout the entire appointment. I work in the dental field and KNOW that Dr. Appel is the most thorough dentist. He takes his time to do his work at a 100% level. My tooth feels great today, I can finally eat cold things again! I would and (do) recommend Dr. Appel to anyone. read more
