Dr. Channell performed my oopherectomy, he was the dr. I met in the ER when I went in for severe pain in my abdomen. He has been very supportive very kind and he explains everything so well. I was extremely dissatisfied with Dr. Channell's office administration. I went in for a first-time visit and thought I had my correct medical card only yo realize later it was last year's insurance. I immediately called them and received their email to make things right and they never responded or acknowledge receiving my current insurance. 1 year later, I have a collection agency calling and sent a letter I was in collections! I again responded to the collection company and Dr. Channell's office and they still to this day have not given me the respect and decency of calling me back or replying to my emails. I recently seen Patricia chanelle, she is wonderful. I been searching for a l great primary and I was actually referred to her, I couldn't be more pleased that she was taking new patients. I felt like she really spent her time with me and answered all my questions and concerns. I hate when I go to a doctor visit that I waited a month or longer to get and then when I get back there I am just another person with possible generic symptoms and illnesses. Here I felt like a valued patient and didn't feel like I left with unanswered questions. I would definitely recommend their practice. She was wonderful. The whole staff was very pleasant. My spouse has appointment with her next just for a check up, but coming to my appointment there makes me feel like co-pay is worth it. I wish there were more doctor's like her. read more

What a horrible experience with the girls behind the desk. They were all over the place trying to explain what my out of pocket costs were and were contradicting what my insurance company was stating regarding my coverage. I had to get the insurance company to call Monique and explain how I'm covered and this office kept insisting that they have their own set of rules how they bill, etc. Long story short- they were so confusing and not nice at all. Great doctor. Before I went to Dr. Channell I saw 5 others who werent listening to my concerns and pain. I randomly found Dr.C through the google search engine and when I went for my first visit you truly listen to me and booked a laparoscopy that same day due to the pain I was experiencing. I was later diagnosed with endometriosis. I can never thank this doctor enough for listening and believing me when all the other doctors werent. I highly recommend him. Excellent doctor. I had a easy time scheduling here. I am a new patient so I had to fill out paperwork but the wait time was very reasonable. The receptionist, nurse and doctor were all pleasant and very professional. It made my yearly Pap smear exam as comfortable as possible for these types of exams. Nobody enjoys stripping naked in front of people they don't know- well I don't at least. The nurse left me alone to undress to put my garments on and gave me plenty of time to redress alone after the exam. I was nervous and profusely sweating (because tbh, it kind of hurt- that's why I hate getting Pap smears) but it was done and over with in a short time. Office was a bit warm so that didn't help me any but Dr. Chanbnell had good bedside manners and a well trained staff. I will be back! read more

This is the best office I've been to by far with the most amazing Dr. I went to the er on Tuesday for a cyst on my ovary that I've had for a few months. The hospital was saying it was starting to look more like a tumor and it needed to be taken out soon. The next day I woke up in an immense amount of pain, trying to get in to see a gynecologist to get it taken out as soon as possible. Every dr I called said it would be at least a week to get it taken out and I'd have to wait until the next week to be seen. My husband called Dr Channell's office, they were able to get me in same day in the morning and schedule me for surgery that afternoon. Post op he was able to save my ovary and went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and well taken care of. Him and his office staff are by far the best office and dr I've ever had to go to. read more

I just had my two week post operative checkup with Dr Channell after he did a vaginal hysterectomy on me because of a tumor and bleeding. I was very frightened about having to have surgery but Dr Channell was very calming and reassuring. The surgery went very well. I woke up on a pain pump and used it through the night. The next day I didn't need it and went home. I only took pain meds for 48 hours. Within a week I felt good and after two I feel really good! I would highly recommend Dr Channell! Not only is he a wonderful caring Dr., he is an excellent surgeon! I trust him completely! read more

Dr. Channel is one of the best doctors that I have EVER been to. I'm extremely picky in this area. He errors on the side of caution but will always listen to your concerns. I had an extremely high risk pregnancy and he went above and beyond all measures to keep us safe. I can't recommend him enough. I hope to change my insurance just to go back to him. Dr. Channell is one of the best doctors I have ever seen. I saw him for the first time after a painful miscarriage under the care of another doctor. Dr. Channell was patient, gentle, and kind. When I became pregnant with my now-3 year old, I came to look forward to my prenatal appointments with him. He knows his stuff, he welcomes questions, he lets you cry when you need to, and he has a great sense of humor. Most importantly (to me, at least), he remembers ME. I am not a number on a chart. Several years ago, I went to this medical facility to get a birth control pills prescription. The female Dr. Channel was very judgmental about the birth control pills that I was requiring, also she lectured me for my drinking coffee habit. I was due for my pap smear, so I had it, and it happened that it was abnormal. So, she recommended to be seen by her husband, Dr. Channel. He didn't seem nice either. He performed a procedure called cryotherapy, and apparently worked. I had to have another appointment with Dr. Channel, since I had another gynecological issue, and he was so so judgmental about my situation. I still remember clearly his demeaning comment... I am writing this review because yesterday I drove by his office, and every time that I drive by this office, I remember the worst couple of judgmental doctors I ever met. Oh, almost forgot, months later I received several phone calls from a collection company saying that I haven't paid a bill from Channell Group, and they were going to report it to the credit bureau. I never received a bill from them because I found out that they have made a mistake with my address. No wonder their reviews are so bad... read more

I just had a Mirena IUD inserted by Dr. Channel and it was a great experience. This is my 2nd IUD and this one went way better than the first. Dr. Channel uses lidocaine to numb the cervix which makes it almost completely pain free. He also has a great bedside manner and is very professional. Thanks Dr. Channel!! read more

I received a phone call today from Angela apologizing for the situation. She was very helpful and had a refund check ready within a half hour. THANK YOU! PRIOR: I recently received my Explanation of Benefits from my insurance company, which stated my co-payment should have been $20 like I had discussed with the receptionist during my visit, not the $133 I was charged. I have called the office 3 times and sent 2 emails with no response, which has forced me to dispute the charge through my credit card company. Though the doctor was nice and professional, the lack of response from his staff is pretty ridiculous and I won't be returning for my next exam. PRIOR: Was looking to have my IUD taken out and needed to find a new doctor because of an insurance change. Found Dr. Channell and was able to get an appointment that same week. Was a bit worried about the procedure due to other's horror stories, but the doctor was not rushed and took the time to answer all my questions. The procedure itself was textbook and I had absolutely no pain. Very satisfied with the service. The staff was also very nice. My only complaint would be that upon check-in, I was immediately informed that my insurance did not completely cover the visit and my out-of-pocket expense was $133 instead of my expected $20 co-pay. It would have been appreciated if they could have notified me ahead of time instead of dropping a surprise bill on me. Would definitely return to this office, though. read more

Doctor Channell did my Di Vinci Robotic hysterectomy and I am giving him four stars because of the long wait in the Doctor's office. I was otherwise very impressed with him. He took time to explain the procedure to me, I was up and walking the second day after my surgery and I have recovered very well and back to work after two weeks . I had a terrible experience there both times! Horrible staff, very poor customer service, and it seems as though this practice only wants your money, not concerned about your health at all. I LOVE Dr. Channell. I first went to him in 2004 and then my insurance changed and so I had to visit a new Dr. and then after another insurance change, I was able to go back to Dr. Channell. He actually remembered me from about 5 years prior. He is so caring and kind and actually takes his time to show that you matter. I would recommend him to any woman seeking an OBGYN. I didn't receive what I was expecting during my pregnancy from this OB and his staff. He seems to not know about some of the special problems during pregnancy like "gestational thrombocytopenia". This is a low review (originally it was 2 stars but I realized that the nurses/staff will change over time and so I should really give a rating for Dr. Channell as a quality physician), but if Dr. Channell himself hadn't been kind and courteous to my wife and me, it would have been even lower. So I will say this: Dr. Channell would have made a fabulous ob and we really enjoyed meeting him during our first visit. But his support staff is atrociously bad; and, unfortunately, they play a large enough role in the process that my wife and I will be finding a new ob Firstly, we showed up for our appointment, which we said on the phone was with (the male) Dr. Channell. We needed to talk to an ob about my wife's medication usage during pregnancy, to have an ultrasound so that we'd know if the baby was 6 or 10 weeks, and documentation for my wife's medical school needed to be filled out by an obstetrician. When I called for an appointment, I made to sure to communicate all three of those requirements. Yet, they had us marked down to see his wife, who is a family medicine doc so that they could "confirm" the pregnancy. Well, I had told them on that same initial phone appointment that we had confirmed the pregnancy at an urgent care the week before (the pregnancy was unexpected). Now I will admit that it was our fault that we didn't have the urgent care fax over the documentation before the visit - that said, nobody in his office told us to! Perhaps we should have known better but this is our (well my wife's) first pregnancy. Claudia, the practice's nurse, took my wife's vitals and is absolutely stuck on the whole "confirming the pregnancy" thing. "You cannot see the ob until your pregnancy is confirmed", "We'll have the urgent care fax over the confirmation", *blank stare at the two of us* "but, you can't see the ob unless your paperwork is here" (repeat 2 more times). Finally, within earshot of Dr. Channell, I said "There's no point in us staying unless it's to see the an obstetrician." I was embarrassed to introduce myself to him that way, but Claudia was being obnoxious. So after all of that, we got the ob appointment. And (and this shows how class of a doctor Dr. Channell is) Dr. Channell apologized for what happened. Secondly, the pregnancy caught us by surprise and my wife's insurance doesn't include maternity. I have to pay out of pocket for the first 2 months of her pregnancy. His practice's appointments are $500 per visit for the first 5 visits. Seriously!!??! Dr. Oliver in Pomona is $100 for sake of comparison. I was going to do it because it was only going to be 2 visits that I paid out of pocket for, but that was only because my wife REALLY liked/trusted Dr. Channell. Lastly, and this really pissed me off today, we forgot to get the paperwork signed for my wife's medical school during our appointment. I called this morning around 11 am and they said it wouldn't be a problem. I called back multiple times between 12-2 (didn't realize that they took 2 hours off for lunch and don't bother to answer the phone or check the messages during that time) and left messages. Never returned. Finally, around two, they answered and said that it hadn't been signed because Dr. Channell was at the hospital but would sign as soon as he got back ("within minutes") and that they would call me after the paperwork was signed. At 4:30 I called and the paperwork was signed, "you didn't call me!", "But I did send it to your patient portal", "I think I have to come in to get the original just to be safe", "we close at 5", "I'm leaving now". I live in Pomona, and while it took 20 minutes to drive in the am, today it took me 35 minutes. I called at 5 till and spoke with the receptionist saying that I would be there on the dot of 5, she said that she would wait and to knock on the door when I got there. Well, I got stuck at every single friggin' stoplight between the 10 and their office and so I called again at 2 minutes to 5 saying I'd be 3 minutes late (I'm neurotic about time). Nobody answered. When I got there (5:03, seriously...) and knocked on the door nobody was there. I couldn't believe it. I knocked until 5:10 and left. I hope that Dr. Channell hears the message I left on his receptionist's voicemail. Poor effort, I will be so mad if there is any problem with my wife's medical school come monday if they need an original. Regardless, We're switiching obstetricians. Although the care is provided by Dr. Channell, and he seems great, the office staff is criticial to the overall quality of care for my wife and our baby for the next 7.5 months (The ultrasound said its 6 weeks :) ) and I don't want to deal with people that put in such little effort. Guess what Claudia (the nurse) said after our appointment, even AFTER she saw our baby on the ultrasound? "Well, we still need the paperwork to confirm your pregnancy." Dr. Channell looked at her and said, "I'm pretty sure I just confirmed it." read more

Just left his office with an appointment with his wife Dr. Guevara for my yearly woman appt. after waiting about a hour, she rushes in, tells me she wants me on birth control and she will write me a prescription because she doesn't do the Mirana. Because my voice is so hoarse I can barely talk, I ask her about giving me something for this cold and she says sorry, this is your woman yearly so you need to make another appointment in two weeks and I have two other patients waiting. I figure, well I'm a patient too right. I got dressed and just left. I'm so disappointed because she has been my doctor for the past 5 years and though I put up with the extremely lying wait tines I the office, running in and out within ten minutes is just very unprofessional. I hate I have to go to smother office, but ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. Ended up with Dr Channell (unplanned) when my baby was breach 3 weeks before due date and my current doctor recommended we allow this doctor (Channell) to do a "reversion" which I was terrified of and upset a stranger would be taking care of me at the last minute. Not only was he professional and extremely calm, he has incredible bedside manner, which is not often found today. Since then (1999) he has delivered three of my four children (only because I didn't know him for my first). I'm very loyal to good doctors, so it was a big deal for me to change as I was very happy with my previous one as well. My last pregancy at the age of 40 was an uncertain time for me, but we went through it together with flying colors. Highly recommend. read more
