Dr. Troung, has been my Dr. for a few years now. I could not be happier. Every time I come in for my scheduled appointment I never wait more than 5 minutes even if I am early. The front staff is friendly and efficient. He truly is a friendly, caring, and patient Dr. He travels the world spreading his knowledge and new visions to his colleagues and still maintains a high volume practice. Do to my present financial situation he performs additional needed treatments out of his own pocket to assure I have all the appropriate procedures done. Dr Truong's Botox treatment was the first step to my father's death. After only being his patient for a couple months he administered Botox to his neck, causing him to be unable to swallow. YOU CANT REVERSE BOTOX. His options were to get a feeding tube, this led to an infection that went septic. His response to my family's tragedy was defensive and casual. My father's only ailment was Parkinson's and poor memory, he did not have life threatening conditions prior to this treatment, and he had the nerve to compare us watching our father starve to death to his wife who had passed from cancer?? I'm sorry for anyone's loss but it was unprofessional and disrespectful. He proceeded to text my mother treatment options after we told him our father's end of life wishes and not to contact us. I was referred to Dr.Troung and told that he was the expert in Botox treatment for pain management. Upon meeting the doctor, I found him to be arrogant and dismissive which I could accept. However, he delayed the Botox treatment to my second visit and that was a disaster. He administered 500 units of Botox into my neck, which I learned after the appointment was the maximum dosage and should never had been the initial amount of Botox treatment. Within one day, the pain in my neck intensified and then I developed severe head drop. I contacted Dr. Troung's office 4 consecutive days and received promises to return my calls. It has been 8 weeks now. My symptoms have not improved and I have NEVER received a return call! My suggestion is that no one should trust or use this doctor and he should retire. read more

My mother was recently referred to Dr. Truong by her general doctor. She has recently been diagnosed with Parkinson disease and I am grateful for her being referred to Dr. Truong. I accompanied my mother her very first consultation. Dr. Truong took the time to explain the condition, possible treatment options, and the importance of managing her symptoms effectively. He ordered tests and scans so that we can get a handle of her condition and eventually formulate a treatment plan. Dr. Truong listened attentively to our concerns and ensured that my mother and I were as comfortable and empowered as possible. Update after leaving Dr. Troung. Things back at UCI Gotshaulk Center have been great. My mother is back on her same dose of Parkinsons meds she was on before we meet Dr. Troung and she is doing fine. He had tried to quadruple her medication. We even had an emergency in is office where she almost fainted when he tried to increase her medication in the office with an inhaler (to see if more helped). After first saying she didn't look like she had Parkinsons, then running multiple expensive tests, then increasing her meds drastically only to say yes she had Parkinsons which we already knew for 10 years from her previous doctor who retired. The whole experience with Dr. Troung still haunts me and it's been over a year. Now my mother sees a separate neurologist for Dementia. Yes, she has dementia now. Apparently Parkinsons neurologists only treat movement disorders they don't treat dementia, you have to see a different neurologist. Which explains why when I told him my mother was having confusion he didn't address or treat her. Now my mother takes a new medication and it has helped keep her more interactive and alert and not in a daze like she was before. The new neurologist at UCI has a great moto that we already went by "if it ain't broke don't fix it" so it's nice to have a doctor on the same page instead of one who pushes medication that causes other problems and then tries to tell you side effects from too much medication are normal. One day she will need to increase her meds, and there will be side effects, however if we had started a year ago on 4x the dose she's on now, her quality of life would have gone down hill fast. She still gets out of bed, showers, gets dressed, and comes downstairs on her own all without more medication. read more

Dr. Truong gave my Mother back her life. She was in pain for years and other doctors could not help her. She was unable take care of herself or participate in any social activities. Dr. Truong recommended surgery and Botox treatments for her Dystonia. Now she is an active senior who volunteers to help others. She enjoys socializing with friends and family, even traveling back east to visit her grandson. Dr. Truong gives her treatments every 3 months so she can remain pain free. I don't really leave reviews but this one I must first visit at this office I saw a Dr name Christina very helpful actually had positive attitude an diagnosed me or stated what she thinks is wrong then transfer me to Dr truong Due to it being a complicated diagnosis or treatment or for second opinion being he is the head doctor of the office. . my first visit with him was horrible i am a compassionate person I try to give much detail information of how my problems occurred Dr truong really didn't care to hear any of it really he yelled at me while I was trying explain in further detail and my sister was trying to explain as well . When ask if he could check the pulsesation in my face he was really rough I also showed him physical movements I'm having and videos . He said he thinks I was causing the movements on my own . I've been suffering 2 years trying to get into a doctor office who specializes in movements . Many doctors have offered me Botox to help with the pain I was waiting to have a specialist in this type of problem do Botox due to nerves or muscle being injected correctly he offered nothing said he can't help didn't offer any testing my sister literally had to beg for some type of testing due to my other testing being outdated from previous doctor while waiting for movement specialist and new symptoms arising since then . I really regret wasting time I could of went eles where for help . No doctor should treat there patients this way . I really hope he gets mental health help because he is suffering loss of family and his age may be short fused to his patience levels . But to enhance that type negative energy on a patient's looking for help is beyond. After I think he felt a lil bad for his attitude but it's not ok . I hope he finds total healing as well . But I can't be treated in that type of environment. No one should . Maybe he should retire . I mean tear's actually came out my eyes from the frustration . On top of the pain I've already been dealing with just to be verbally abused . I came in with high spirit thinking I would finally get help are answer for my movements . This doctor is very rude and obnoxious to his fellow staff at the medical center. You should believe all the negative reviews from his patients because he treats his co-workers the same way. He treats workers at the hospital with disrespect and is condescending. He only respects other doctors. Everyone else he treats like garbage. I think his old age has made him very grumpy. He should just retire if he hates his job. He seems to always be in a bad mood. The employees all talk about what a bad attitude he has. read more

Seeing my spouse for Parkinson's but never listens and ignores new information about physical therapy and speech therapy. Keeps changing medications for her. He can be rude and dismissive if we question his logic. I haven't seen much improvement over the past few years and need to consider her seeing a more progressive specialist. Her walking is not improving. I think he's egocentric and doesn't want to consider newer research into Parkinson's. read more

Dr. Troung is the finest neurologist I have ever met. I have dealt with Cervical Dystonia for many years. It took me several years to find a doctor as kind and knowledgeable as he. I have never felt better. His office staff is so nice and professional. A TRUE BLESSING! I recently had an appointment with Dr. Troung to help me find a treatment for my Restless Leg Syndrome. He sat and talked with me and examined me and gave me a wonderful medication which has really helped my RLS. He's such a great neurologist and so kind. If I have questions, I can text him, and he responds. He goes out of his way to help. My family and friends are amazed at the improvement in my Cervical Dystonia. Dr Truong has been treating my facial dystonia since 2009. It took me ten years and just as many doctors before I was referred to Dr. Truong, he took one look at me and knew what was causing my symptoms. I was put on a tremor med and told to cone bck for follow up. Can't get in for 3 mths. Still don't know my condition or why I have lesions. I saw dr. I had to wait two and a half months for my appointment with him, and meeting him was a disappointment. He told me he does not treat my symptoms and referred me to another doctor; why would you take my appointment and make me wait so long only to tell me to go to another doctor? Seventeen years ago it was very difficult to find a neurologist who understood spasmatic tortacollis/cervical dystonia or even was able to diagnose it.
