Wow. What can I say. I called at 2:00 pm on a Saturday panicked because my usual stylist canceled my appointment. I have been waiting three weeks for my second session of balayage and I couldn't wait to get my hair done! I was in Los Angeles and wouldn't get back to San Juan Capistrano until 4 PM. They graciously took me at 4 PM knowing that this will be a long appointment. I have never been to the salon before, I did not know what to expect. I walked in I was greeted so kindly and may my stylist was so accommodating and brought me back to her chair. She is such a professional. I showed her my inspiration photo and she looked and saw my hair where my stylist started my balayage. We discussed what she would be doing and she told me what you wanted to use on my hair. She is so incredibly smart and gifted. She treated me so well and the process was incredible. It took four hours to do my hair! The salon stayed open two hours longer for me!!! They are truly amazing people. I was given two mimosas, water, scalp massages and the process was never rushed. My hair came out even better that I could have ever imagined!!!! The owner even took time to dry and style my hair! Amazing! It was a breathtaking experience. Very pricey,but if you want something done right it is more than worth the price tag! Mucio Vidales is AMAZING!!! I have been getting my haircut and styled by Mucio for about 6 years now and will continue to do so forever!! After being recommended by a friend I had Mucio do a basic cut and I have never had so many compliments on my haircut! Sadly I moved to San Diego but would make the 1hour drive up to see Mucio so that he could cut and style my hair. Every haircut was fantastic, I had to carry business cards of his with me because so many random people would stop me and ask me where I got my haircut. For one bold haircut I decided to go purple in my bangs and Mucio was able to make me look hip and sophisticated! He is amazing with cut, style, and color! For my wedding last year Mucio did my hair and people are still talking about it! I walked into the salon and was greeted very nicely and was asked if I had ever been there before. I answered no, and the receptionist took down my info (name, number, address),...THEN when I told the receptionist I needed a trim, she asked me "what's your price range?" I was completely confused by the question, responded "what do you mean my price range? whatever you charge for a trim, that's what I assume to be paying"...It took me a couple seconds to register in my head that it was more of a "can you afford it" question. I didn't end up getting my trim there, even though I agreed to show up 30 mins later. Should I hold my breath for an apology? read more

As I was looking for a new salon, I cold called the Daniel Michael Salon and they recommended Krystal and I couldn't be happier. Krystal is a great colorist and she knows her way around hair. She is very confident and has a great skill set despite that she appears to be fairly young. I had highlights, overall color and a hair-cut and she was very professional and skilled throughout all the procedures. Also, the salon is huge and is populated with lots of stations, but it wasn't crowded. The atmosphere is clean and professional. All the stations are well kept. The owner of this place hates children! My wife and I have been going to our stylist for 6 years and followed her here. We brought our 9-mo old daughter who decided to laugh and scream in excitement...not cry! The owner of the salon gave my wife a dirty look and asked her to 'control the child'. If you can't appreciate a baby's laughter, find some joy in your life! We are no longer clients of this salon and have told our friends the same. I really tried to like Daniel Michael Salon and give them a chance. I had a bad experience with one of the stylists and she couldn't get the color right, after the 3rd time I decided to voice this to management. I was told that color corrections are to be done by the Manager Christina. She fixed my hair and did an excellent job. I told her that I would like to start seeing her since I liked what she did with my hair. Then her work started to go downhill, I called and spoke to a manager and voiced my concerns with my last experience that I was not happy with. I had also told her that I was going to give Christina one last shot. I left very disappointed and I don't know how you can do beautiful work and then go to the complete opposite of that?! My hair was A LOT shorter than what I told her and the cut is not good and uneven! She took off too much and once its done its done! And then when it came time for me to wash and style my hair I noticed there was a lot of brassy parts on my hair! And I had a feeling she screwed up on the color because when I was at the shampoo station she was spending a lot of time trying to tone my hair and it usually doesn't take that long at all, well I was right! Also the last few times I was there my appointment felt rushed, which is not how you want to feel. You should be feeling relaxed and feel like your at least being somewhat pampered. It was more of get you in, get you out kind of a feel. I don't understand what is so hard? You do a great job as a stylist you get return business and good tips! If you can't count on the manager to do a good job consistently, then who can? VERY DISAPPOINTING!!! Go somewhere else! There are tons of salons, this isn't the only gig in town! read more

I have really difficult hair to style - thick, curly/fuzzy mid-length. I have always micro-managed my haircuts and never really been relaxed. Danny, one of the owners, is the first hairstylist that I have ever been able to relax with, at one point I even fell asleep. He takes as long as needed and is a true perfectionist. He is a brilliant cutter. I use Regina (another owner) for my color/weave/balayage and she also does an excellent job. Danny and Regina recently resurrected my girlfriend's hair - she'd previously had a terrible cut, bad color, fried, etc. completely different type of hair than mine - and they also did a great job on her. I would give the salon five stars, but I've deducted a star because I would like to see better consistency with the assistants who wash hair - most are amazing, great neck massages etc. - others not so good. This matters to me because I have such thick hair that you really have to give it a good deep wash - wouldn't necessarily be a problem for anyone with ordinary hair. I've mentioned this to the owners a few times - hopefully they'll respond. However, I must add that if you're not happy with something, they will always correct it - they do want you to be happy - Danny says that you are an walking advert for the salon, so it's important to him. read more
