I had a situation where I could not get to Long Beach to see my usual stylist and Salon Capistrano had a wonderful offer for first time customers. I was EXTREMELY nervous as I had never been to anyone other then my usual stylist. I booked with Anna and she was beyond talented and amazing! She did my hair spot on and did not try to alter what I usually have done. Anna was very low key and easy to talk to. The salon was comfortable and relaxing. I loved how they had tons of parking. When I was done I seriously wished Anna offered more deals like the first time clients offer!!! Sadly, I can't afford what I was quoted for their usual weave and cut but told her that I would come back in a heart beat if she had any upcoming discounts. Anyhow, this is a great causal salon. My elderly mother goes to this salon for her hair, he loves Sharon and I can't say enough about how wonderful her hair looks and how accommodating Sharon is to Mom. That said, Mom and I both recently tried the contractor Lisa for nails. Mom has had a mani-pedi several times and was happy with Lisa's service. Apparently Lisa once owned her own salon in San Clemente -I cannot find any records of this on line. So, I asked her if she could do my acrylics (I had not had them on in 20+ years and was unfamiliar with the new gels), so Lisa started doing my gel nails (pedi too) ... and there was an immediate issue with the shape (I wanted them the same shape as the woman she was doing when we first talked), and lots breakage as they broke or cracked from the side), lack of appointment availability (she said she had regular clients). She even refused to do a french manicure (standard for any salon). She wanted me to pick colors from her own supply (they were ugly, and were not for a Spring color pallet and did not match my wardrobe, so I brought my own). I finally insisted she get me french manicure product (offered to pay). She insisted on gel colors (I offered to buy ones I liked). I even offered to buy any special products she might need. The final blow is that she cancelled an appointment I had made ahead of time on good Friday (busy week- April) and put a standing client she had in that spot. She refused to do my nails. Subsequently, I wrote the owner of the shop to make sure she was aware of what her contractor was doing, as it appeared deliberate, BTW: I am always on time, tip well, pay cash when possible and am pleasant to chat with. First time at this salon and had the pleasure of meeting Tamara, hair stylist & LeLani, aesthetician. They took excellent care of my daughter and she was very pleased with her services. Went in with what stylists call long "virgin" hair and my stylist seemed a little hesitant on touching. I walked out with this for $180. Looks like she just put splashes of dye which surprises me because I was there for 5 hours. I'm not the person that will ask for a refund but will definitely say I'm never coming back. Went to Ulta 2 weeks later and received the results given for $150! I've also attached the one from Ulta and I really don't have to tell you which one is better because the pictures speak for themselves. Salon Capistrano is not the place to get a balayage. read more

Great salon! I beg to differ with the comment down below on them not being able to do balayage. I showed Julie a picture of what I want and she explained every step to me and gave me exactly what I was wanted. I have been going to Julie for styling for around 10 years and I trust her 100% with my hair. I never walk out dissatisfied and even if there is a hint of dissatisfaction she is trying to convince me to come back free of charge. Everyone at this salon is so friendly and nice and it is a very clean facility. Again I've never been disappointed at all! read more

5 stars for the customer service and for my stylist, Elizabeth LaPlant. She is truly one of the nicest people I have ever met. I have long hair and bangs, and I appreciate how conscientious she is about haircuts and bang trims. She has an artistic vision, but she doesn't let her vision dominate. She is a very good listener, and she is conservative about taking length off unless you are 100% sure you're ready to get rid of some inches. She makes the whole experience very relaxing and enjoyable. My only suggestion for the salon is to invest in different lighting. I don't mind fluorescent lights if they're done right, but the lights in the salon bring out all my blemishes and that's a bummer. read more

I have been going to Alex for 15+ years & she's been using the "goo" (protein pack) on my hair for the last few years & it has done wonders for my hair. It makes my hair incredibly smooth & easy to manage. I have been going here for a few years only because Julie was there. She has been doing an absolutely amazing job on my hair for 5+ years. When she moved to this salon from another salon, I followed and I am so glad I did! The overall ambiance of this salon is so amazing and everyone is very friendly. As soon as you walk in, you're offered something to drink and a snack. The service is wonderful overall. I am blonde and go to Julie for a full set of highlights every few months and she does an absolutely amazing job every single time. She is so sweet and checks on you throughout your whole service to make sure you are comfortable. I am always in love with my results when I walk out. My past few visits I got a conditioning treatment that she recommended because my hair was breaking because of all the hell I put it through over summer. After the treatment, my hair was so soft and smelled AMAZING. I got it about 2 months ago and have noticed my hair is still healthier and grew longer because it isn't breaking nearly as much.
