He discussed the options for my surgery clearly as well as the recovery times. He scheduled me for surgery quickly and the surgery was smooth and the results were amazing. I had almost no pain after surgery and never required prescription pain medications or even OTC medication. The hospital staff at HOAG was amazing as well. Medical staff taking advantage of sick people as well as horrible patient care! Patients who are living with debilitating pain are not inconveniences. They are people who are already struggling. They should not have to fight to be treated with dignity, and they should not have to physically push themselves beyond what they are capable of doing simply to be seen by a physician. I was looking for a different spine specialist for my best friend, who has significant ongoing back, neck, and knee issues. His health continues to deteriorate, and he has been living with severe, nearly unmanageable pain for more than a year. I wanted him to obtain another opinion. I came across Dr. Daniel S. Yanni in Orange Coast Magazine, where he was recognized with a 2026 Orange County Medical Association "Physician of Excellence" award. My friend went into the visit hopeful that he might finally find someone who could offer a different perspective and a path forward. Unfortunately, the experience went disturbingly awry. Before seeing the physician, the medical assistant insisted that my friend provide his weight and height. He was carrying a laptop bag and water bottle, was in obvious pain, and could not stand fully upright because of his condition. He explained that he was physically unable to straighten up, yet he was told the physician would not see him unless these measurements were obtained. He was weighed while still carrying the laptop and water. He ultimately forced himself to stand as straight as possible because he was desperate to see the doctor and hopeful that he might finally receive help. It was extremely upsetting to see someone who had been in severe pain for more than a year put through this unnecessarily. There appeared to be a complete lack of basic empathy and clinical judgment. If these measurements were genuinely necessary, there should have been a reasonable alternative for a patient who could not safely comply. Unfortunately, the physician visit provided little reassurance or hope, nor did he acknowledge the assistant's behavior. He was essentially told that he was already seeing the best physician and that, if he wanted to transfer his care, he would have to undergo approximately three months of repeating diagnostic testing. There was no discussion about what could actually be done to help him or what other options might be available. For someone suffering this much, this was incredibly discouraging. What concerns me is the overall lack of empathy, patient-centered care, and meaningful communication throughout the experience. There was also no apparent concern about how the patient had just been treated before seeing the physician. My friend left feeling discouraged and angry about the mistreatment and, after returning home, had to take additional medication because of the severity of his pain. What should have been an opportunity for a second opinion instead left him feeling unheard and misunderstood--and in even more pain. I called the office afterward and asked to speak with either Dr. Yanni or the office manager regarding my concerns. Nobody returned my call. A physician receiving a "Physician of Excellence" distinction should be held to a high standard. Patients who are suffering deserve dignity and understanding, particularly when they are physically unable to perform a routine task. I am sharing this experience so others can make an informed decision before choosing this practice. Based on our experience, I would not recommend this office to ANYONE. I saw Dr. Yanni for a second opinion after back surgery complications. He charged $5 per X-ray just to upload my scans, which no other doctor has ever done. When I asked if I was fused from my spinal fusion he said, "Of course not--you're only a year out." But when I told him my original surgeon said I was fused, he completely changed his answer and said, "Well then, I guess you are." It was obvious he was biased towards the other doctor instead of taking care of the patient in front of him.He avoided my questions, seemed dismissive, and offered no real help until I got visibly frustrated--and grabbed my things. I started seeing Dr Yanni several years ago when I began to experience back pain. I had tried chiropractic care and had several epidural injections but saw no relief. After several consultations I opted for back fusion surgery of the L3, L4 and L5 disks. The surgery went well and after a year I was back to my normal life including golfing a couple of days a week. I used similar reviews in order to select Dr Daniel Yanni at Disc Comfort as my neurosurgeon. This review has 2 section. For those folks who like bottom line information, please see the Summary. For those folks who like details, please see the Details section. Summary: Dr Daniel Yanni at Disc Comfort is an excellent neurosurgeon who cares about and respects his patients. He will prepare for your initial visit by consulting with referring physicians, if needed. He does not sugar coat information and you will always know the risks involved in your procedure and his thoughts on how to best prepare for a successful outcome. I am walking today because of his expertise and I highly recommend him as a neurosurgeon. Details: I met Dr Daniel Yanni at Disc Comfort in early April 2024 after learning my endometrial cancer returned and it was in my spine. Prior to my first visit, Dr Yanni consulted with my oncologist to start creating a plan for my treatment. At my first visit, he reviewed the scans I brought with me and showed me what was happening with my back. He was very direct about the situation and the risks I was facing. Due to the urgency of my situation, we discussed the best timing for surgery vs chemotherapy. He also recommended additional bone treatments to strengthen my bones and counteract the effects of chemo. Before my first visit ended, I had a surgery date and a list of specialists to see prior to surgery. He allowed me to use a desk in his office to make calls to the specialists so I could setup the appointments. If I was having a problem, he talked to that office to try and help get me an appointment. Otherwise, I was provided with an alternate specialist. He and his office staff were awesome and understood my fear and other emotions on that day. At my second visit, I had not gotten the scans he recommended. I totally spaced on getting the scans but he did not make a big deal of the issue. I knew he wasn't pleased with me and timing was short but he still made sure I knew the importance of the scans and getting them in a timely manner. Unfortunately my back pain had gotten much worse and I was unable to obtain the scans regardless of the pain medication provided by my pain specialist. After trying twice to get the scans and failing due to pain, Dr Yanni ended up sending me to the emergency room the Friday before my surgery so I could be admitted and could be sedated for the scans. During my hospital stay, Dr Yanni's team took excellent care of me and my family. My family was updated during the all day surgery. While I was in intensive care, he kept my family updated and ensured they knew what was happening and why. He also reminded my care team that my new fear of Disney music was due to being under sedation for so long and I did not need a psych consult. He is very logical and knows the impact of everything he does. Dr Yanni and his team were also excellent advocates for me with my insurance. They worked with my insurance and got me into one of the two rehab facilities they wanted me to go to. Anyone who has dealt with insurance knows they can be challenging. Again, I was fortunate to have such strong advocates. Since my cancer was imbedded in my psoas muscle, the nerve root in my L2 and in my spinal fluid, my ability to walk after surgery was not assured. All I can say is that I am walking today and I can climb stairs and this feat is due largely to Dr Yanni and the "A" team he assembled for my surgery and post surgery care. Post surgery and rehab, Dr Yanni has had a conservative approach to my care. He wanted to ensure my wound was healed sufficiently before I restarted chemo. Dr. Yanni has performed 3 spinal surgeries on me (a partial lumbar discectomy in 2012 and more involved cervical and lumbar procedures in 2023). All of the surgeries went perfectly--they eliminated severe pain and restored full functionality. He came highly recommended as an amazing surgeon and has also proved to be a pleasure to work with. Weird experience. I went to Dr. Yanni as a second opinion, after injuring my neck around C5/C6. I've been in extensive PT since the injury, and have been feeling relatively recovered. I've wanted to see how I could continue recovery, hopefully without surgery. First red flag: 1) The office insists you bring your files on a CD. Fine, that's a pain, but it's obtainable. Second red flag: 2) The office charges you $5 per image that you have on file with them. So, I paid $5 to have an MRI uploaded, and $5 for an X-Ray, because I got those at UCI and not w/in the Hoag system. Seems like a weird cash grab for him to do his job...? Third red flag: 3) I went in, fully expecting to explain what I've been doing for physical therapy, a recovery plan, what we could potentially monitor/do (e.g. would I need steroid shots in the area?), etc. Instead, after briefly examining me for about five minutes, Dr. Yanni gave me two options: - Don't get surgery, and be at a higher risk for severely injuring myself again if I ever got into a car accident or anything, - Get surgery, and get a fusion at C5 and C6. He downplayed the idea of getting an artificial disc during surgery, because it could fail. But a fusion seems permanent for someone in their 30s, who isn't in pain? Fourth red flag: 4) He didn't ask me any questions/get to know my history. E.g. I told him I have more symptoms on my left side, and my PT surmised it's because I have a curved spine, and my left side is weaker. Instead, he randomly asked me if I was a dentist, and said my left side weakness could potentially be an employment issue, and not because of a physiology issue that's pretty obvious? There just wasn't really an effort to get to know ME, and it kind of felt like he just wanted to rush me into surgery. Fifth red flag: 5) He brought in his nurse, to show her my MRI, and was extremely weird about it. He kept conferring with her, when he should have been talking to me. E.g. When he did the patellar reflex test (hitting my knee with a hammer), my right knee jerked. This is not new; both my GP and previous spine specialist noted this. He immediately smirked and looked at the nurse and went, "See?" and didn't clarify to me what was happening. When I asked, he immediately wrote off the reaction as a spinal cord injury, which is not consistent with my MRI. If he had talked to me more, he would have realized that previous doctors have wanted to do more testing, because thyroid disease runs into the family and it could potentially be hyperthyroidism. Long story short: whole place felt weird, and a little cash grab-y. But that's why it was a second opinion. read more

Let me start off this review by saying in no way do I doubt Dr. Yannis ability as a surgeon. This review is solely based on how his office operates and what you should expect going into them. I have never dealt with a doctors office who is so focused on making money over patient care. My first office visit I went in for severe neck paid radiating down my right arm. Dr Yanni quickly told me what it may be but I would need an MRI to confirm. He then mentioned it was nearing the holidays so it will be very hard to get an MRI quickly but if I paid his office his concierge fee they would pull strings to get me in quickly (over the course of my two visits I was told about his concierge service atleast 10 times). I said I would take my chances getting an mri for myself as I did not want to go out of pocket so much money to get into an mri quicker. I ended up getting into one same day on my own. I was also told I should wear a cervical collar which I of course was happy to get as it would help relieve some pain and I was told it was $60. After this I went back to his office the next week to review my mri results and he confirmed what he assumed it would be based off my symptoms, a herniated disk that was compressing my spinal cord and nerve to my arm. He then told me he wants me in surgery asap as I would have permanent damage if I waited. I was shown one picture of my mri which looked as if my spinal cord was about to be severed and it was terrifying, of course having no medical experience said ok and he gave me two options of surgery, a neck fusion or an artificial disc replacement. As a 27 year old who knows multiple people who are older and have had fusions I was torn on my decision as they have had many lasting issues since the surgery. Dr. Yanni gave me a two minute explanation then told me to choose what I would like to do. I asked for his opinion and he simply told me it's my choice we can do either. He then stated we should just get something on the calendar for a surgery as it was the holidays but we can always adjust accordingly. I said ok and he said just sign this paperwork so we can start the process. He then once again mentioned if I paid his concierge fee he can get me into surgery faster and get my clearances faster.. This appointment was on December 3rd and he scheduled me for December 17th. After being told it was my decision to make I thought it would be logical to get multiple opinions. The next day I went to another Dr who told me he would never recommend a fusion to someone my age and that he would only recommend someone over 65 get this as it has high occurrence of follow up surgeries 10 years down the line. He told me I should wait about a month to see how my body heals and that it is highly unluckily I would have permanent damage that quickly. I showed him the picture of the mri that Dr. Yanni sent me and we then reviewed all the images of my mri. I was very confused because the images did not look nearly as bad as I had seen, the other Dr stated that the image I showed was by far the worst image and was not nearly as bad as it looked as it was just the angle of the photo that made it look like that. Following this appointment I instantly called Dr. Yannis office and told them we would like to hold off on the surgery for now until after the holidays. I called in and spoke with Amber who told me since the appointment was within two weeks I would have to pay a $750 cancellation fee or a $500 rescheduling fee and this was stated in the contract I signed, mind you this is within 24 hours of scheduling. Of course this is something that was never mentioned to me I was simply told to sign the paper so they could start the process. It is very clear now that they scheduled it perfectly 14 days out so the second I signed the paper I was liable to pay a fee if anything changed. After multiple conversations they said they would waive the rescheduling fee but only if I went to Dr. Yannis personal recommendations of other Drs to get multiple opinions. Eventually we told them we did not want to proceed and they waived the cancellation fee while stating I am only ever able to return to his office if I pay the fine. Fast forward a month I got more opinions and was told the exact same thing I was told by my second opinion that I should definitely not do a fusion and wait to see how it healed. I am now having an artificial disc replacement in the next week. I then received noticed that I had a new balance one month later. Upon opening up the portal I saw I had a balance of $65. I quickly noticed they had billed my insurance $1700 for the cervical collar and owed an additional $65. It was never mentioned to me this would be billed to my insurance nor would I potentially have to pay more. After speaking with Amber about this she chuckled on the phone saying I should have read the fine print and that they would educate their staff. He showed me on my MRI why I needed the surgery. I scheduled my surgery that day. I'd suffered from cervical migraines for 20 years (which I was self injecting Aimovig for relief for 5 years ) and had nerve damage down my arm. He didn't make any promises, but I was willing to take the chance. He told me that he was very conservative, and I'd have to wear an Aspen brace for 3 months! I am shocked to see how many great reviews are for this office. If I could give a zero star review I would. From my first appointment the office was a mess and everyone was running around in circles. Nobody had the answer to my simple question. I gave them benefit of the doubt that they were having a off day. Unfortunately as I continued to make my appts they referred me to it was nothing but problems. I guess a "surgeons" office can't get prior authorization for the imaging script they gave me. Even though, my insurance and the radiology department both told me over and over she should be able to get the CPT code because they are the office which gave me the imagining script. I had a three way call between the office manager (christina), the insurance and the radiology department separately where each time Christina spoke over everyone talking, acting rude, only caring about how "She isn't going to let anyone speak badly about her office." ... sadly it's her making the office look poorly, not anyone else. Without my suggestion, the radiology department and insurance company both submitted complaints based on her behavior and attitude. I have wasted hours and weeks just to get a simple MRI / X Ray because of her. Do yourself a favor and let this review be the longest time you spend on this drs office. If you do choose to go anyway, the only small hope in there is Michelle. She was always sweet no matter how difficult the situation was. Unfortunately all higher problems get pushed to the office manager where the problems start escalating. I thank God for Dr. Daniel Yanni. Back in July I had an MRI of my lumbar area due to significant pain in my left leg. My orthopedic doctor diagnosed scoliosis. I asked a friend, who is a neurologist and another who is an anesthesiologist for their opinions of my MRI. Both said they were concerned and said I need to see a neurosurgeon. My neurologist friend recommended Dr. Yanni, and I am so grateful he did. When I saw Dr. Yanni, he noticed that I had other neurological irregularities from his initial examination, and he ordered a cervical MRI because of his observations. When we received the results of this MRI Dr, Yanni said I had a severe degeneration in my cervical areas of C-3/4; 4/5; and 5/6. The degree of injury to the spinal cord was dangerous and I risked further neurological injury, which if not treated now could leave me with permanent nerve damage. He said this issue was far more serious than my lumbar issues. Of course, this scared me. I also saw a pain specialist who did a nerve health test and he suggested that I have the surgery because my nerves were showing signs of significant damage (Praise God for such amazing science!). After consulting with my wife, we both agreed that the risks of surgery were worth it compared to the risks of not doing anything. After meeting with Dr. Yanni to set the date of surgery, we worked with his wonderful staff member (Jasmine) to set up multiple pre-operative tests and other doctors' visits. Dr. Yanni required that I meet with a primary care doctor, a cardiologist, and a neuropsychiatrist to make sure I was ready for surgery. Many of these doctors told me how much they respected Dr. Yanni for his skills and his thoroughness in preparing his patients for surgery. This was all very reassuring news, and though many doctor visits and tests were tiring, I can say I am very glad for all of Dr, Yanni's carefulness from beginning to end of the surgery process. Also, it is helpful to know that Dr. Yanni only does surgery if absolutely necessary. My surgery was at 11am at Hoag Hospital. Of course, my family and I were nervous, but the pre-op went smoothly with the hospital staff. Dr. Yanni checked in with me to reassure me. The surgery took about 4-1/2 hours. After being in the recovery room, I was taken to my room, where I saw my family at about 5:30pm. I was told the surgery was successful and the plan was for me to stay in the hospital one night and be discharged the next day so there would be less risk of infections from the hospital. I was indeed discharged 1 day later after meeting with Dr. Yanni, who checked me and said I looked good. On returning home I was surprised to find that I had only moderate pain and a lot less pain than I expected. I had little pain in the incision area, and moderate pain in my throat, which I was told to expect since the surgery to fix the discs and insert the rods is near my throat. I was fitted with a neck brace which I will have to wear for 3 months to allow for my neck to heal and new bone to grow over the rods. I just saw Dr. Yanni for my two-week check-up where he examined me and removed my dressing from the surgery. He said I was doing remarkably well, and I that I just need to be sure to stay on course with the careful lifestyle he recommends as well as wearing the collar daily. I will continue to follow up with Dr, Yanni for the coming year. Then, if my lumbar issues continue to cause me pain, I will not hesitate to have Dr. Yanni treat me as needed. I hope this review will help anyone seeking a neurosurgeon to consider Dr. Daniel Yanni. Rude, uncaring, asks questions, attitude about what I had was decided before I walked in, he was walking me out before I knew it. He asked me to walk, soon as I started he asks me if I had a tick? I'm thinking who asks that? Especially knowing I had spinal cord damage and I was paralyzed neck down. I would rather have Trump as my surgeon than have this Dr touch me. At least he thought he looked sharp in his Armani suit. Maybe ? I usually speak my mind but I promised the dr who recommended this so called Dr with God like attitude i wouldn't. I was referred to Dr. Yanni in December 2019 after exhausting all prerequisite treatments (chiropractor, therapeutic massage, and physical therapy) without any relief for my pain and numbness. At my first visit, I was impressed with Dr. Yanni's professionalism, knowledge, and thoroughness in evaluating my condition. Before making any recommendations, he ordered additional testing and referred me to a pain management doctor for an EMG of my arms and legs and epidural injections. He also made a referral to a rheumatologist to conduct a bone scan. On my second visit, Dr. Yanni informed me I needed both a cervical fusion, C4-6, and a lumbar fusion, levels to be determined, to address my issues. We agreed that we'd address the cervical issues first and I had surgery in June 2020. When I was in the hospital, I remarked that my sore throat was minimal and I was not having swallowing problems like I'd read about. The nurse responded, "That's because you have Dr. Yanni!" That was a year ago this month. I've recovered well from this surgery. I trust him explicitly. He has recommended postponing the surgery on my lumbar spine as I participate in treatment for my osteoporosis. We are just now beginning to discuss lumbar fusion surgery in the near future. Again, I am impressed that Dr. Yanni is not rushing to do surgery but, rather, is concerned with my physical well-being first and wants to make certain my spine is in a condition to withstand the procedure. DONT GO HERE I should have read the other reviews. I also should have gone with my gut after my initial visits. The office staff (besides Michelle) are not only rude but incompetent. This office cannot obtain and upload simple radiology documents or images for their clients in a timely manner. They called me the day of my appointment to let me know that they did not have my images (which I got done 2 weeks prior) and then told me I can either do my virtual appointment (to discuss the images they don't have) or cancel and pay the same day cancellation fee. They have no problem wasting your time and/or burdening you. I hope one day you're able to get your "stuff" together. I won't be back. read more

Dr. Yanni - WOW!! Thank you so very very much for giving me a life I never had before. I wake up every day feeing the sensation of endorphins rather than pain. I look forward to my new more active life, rather than a wheel chair. Dr. Yanni is very thorough and made sure other possible causes of my pain were ruled out before planning surgical intervention. Less is more with Dr. Yanni, so we focused on the area of most pain deciding on spinal fusion of L2-5 and C 3-5. He also uses minimally invasive techniques, which is a HUGE factor in faster recovery. Instead of months (9-12 as estimated by other Drs using traditional large incision techniques for lumbar fusion), my recovery was well on its way within 2 months. I was working from home, walking the park without a walker or cane. I experienced very few of the potential risks and side effects of the surgeries that were explained could happen, and those that did resolved in a few weeks to a month or so. 12 months out, I hardly remember the recovery. I was referred to Dr. Yanni by two different surgeons. One of the surgeons was my first opinion and he scheduled surgery with me right away. Dr. Yanni was my second opinion and I found him to be more thorough in his exam and informative of my diagnosis. He went over the MRI with me completely and explained everything along the way. He then informed me of my options for surgery . I have cervical stenosis and one of the discs in my neck was compressing on my spinal cord.He ordered additional tests including a nerve study. I went for a third opinion as well but found Dr. Yanni to be the best of the three. He's very kind and compassionate, and has extensive knowledgeable in the area of spinal cords. He spent as much time as I needed and answered all my questions without rushing me.He has a wonderful office staff that are also very caring and answered all my questions. I had anterior cervical discectomy and fusion surgery On April 17, 2018 at Hoag hospital. The surgery went very well. Dr. Yanni ordered a CT scan after my surgery to make sure everything looked great which it did. He has me in a hard neck collar and on a puréed food diet. He said he has learned a lot through the years to help his patients recover with the best results. Any doctor that wants to order extra tests to make sure I get the best proper care is a great doctor to me. Well I finally had surgery on October 8 at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach. ACDF 3-levels. C5-6, and T-1. Lead by this amazing surgeon I happy to say that everything went very well and I'm home on the mend. A little discomfort with back pain, swallowing, soreness, nausea, but no actual pain at the incision. Just the normal symptoms associated with major surgery. Happy to report that Dr Arie Gluzman, Pain Mgmt specialist in this same office, got my symptoms under control quickly. He's another highly qualified professional in this group. In truth everyone associated with Disc Comfort Inc. is professional, friendly and caring. Especially Christina the office manager. This busy office could easily become hectic and chaotic if not given her talent for managing people and processes. She rocks! Friendly, warm and efficient, imagine that. Good luck read more

Excellent surgeon for anyone with a spinal condition needing surgery. Cervical myelopathy and stenosis is serious, so we did research and learned a great deal, before moving forward. The first surgeon we saw, wanted to do immediate surgery. Dr. Yanni was our second opinion. After thorough evaluation and considering the MRI, he suggested additional nerve tests. So we had those tests and got a third opinion, returning to Dr Yanni. Good thing we did, because he is definitely the best of everyone with whom we spoke, discussing all options. Once we decided, his staff acted fast, to schedule at Hoag Hospital. My GF checked in at 5:30am, surgery went from 7:30am to 11:20 am as scheduled. Dr. Yanni had a great team, performed with total professionalism, reviewed the post-op CT Scan, and everything was a go result..!! Was awake and talking with good arm movement, right away. etc. There's throat swelling from the impact of the intubation and so it's No solid foods. Only Smoothies, thick soups, etc. at least a week or two. Our post-op Nurse Kelly noted that Yanni does things a bit differently than other doctors, ordering more conservative post-op treatment and release from hospital ASAP. Doctor Yanni is nice BUT, I sensed it right away the moment he saw me, the first question was, when do you wanna get this done? Wait...you're not even gonna let me go through a step by step procedure first like therapy, shots, chiro or whatever etc. You just wanna cut me up like that? Well...that right there made me sense it's all about money! Dollar$, Dollar$, Dollar$! Guest what guys, I am so glad I didn't fall for it. One year later all my pain and numbness went away! I knew God had a plan for me. Moral of the story is, go with your instinct, and most of all don't jump to quick getting a surgery as that's what most greedy for money OTHER doctors do. Not all. Loosing my ability to move, use, or strengthen my right hand/fingers and my hand overtime becoming a claw was a scary ordeal that lead me to an MRI, a refferal and a visit to Dr. Yanni. I had a herniated disc on my C6-C7 causing me to slowly loose my motor skills. My hand was the first to slowly go. My first appt. I immediately felt like I was in good hands. From his warm welcoming staff and Dr. Yanni's friendly demeanor he put me at ease right away knowing he was my doctor. I went into this scared, nervous and unsure. After doing my research on my type of surgery, my doctor, and the risks vs partial/full recovery, I knew he was the right doctor to help me and my situation. I had an anterior c6-c7 partial Corpectomy (anterior due to the type of injury, location of the herniated disc and my age, 30) with a c6-c7 spinal fusion. I had surgery in March 2021 and spent less than 2 days in the hospital. Post op is never easy and the first three months were some of the toughest days, I won't lie. Having a good support system, friends or family to help with the small tasks is highly recommended. The beginning weeks were hard, emotional, physical, mentally, but it does get better and easier and the pain becomes less! I was on a thickened diet the first few weeks (due to the anterior approach through the front of my neck) and a neck brace 24/7, and daily walks when I felt good until July. In July I was able to no longer be in a neck brace and In August I began small PT for my neck along with PT for regaining function in my hand. Post op, there was good days and bad, I had to eat, sleep, and be in my neck brace at almost all times as my fusion of my c6-c7 healed. As the months have progressed I have NO pain in my hand or neck and can move my neck in all four directions with no pain.(If I tweak my neck or do something I shouldn't to irritate it I might have a slight painful few moments but nothing that is constant.) I've been lucky enough to have almost zero to no pain after surgery with my hand function 90% recovered! My herniated disc caused my nerves to be compressed for almost a year before I finally saw a doctor. I highly recommend not waiting to see your doctor, the sooner you find out what is wrong the faster you potential can heal and fully recover those damaged nerves. We are now 10 months post op, no pain, 90% function of my hand, and The incision where my surgery was is hardly noticeable! I am completely and truly forever grateful for Dr. Yanni and his team of amazing individuals. He took the time to get to know me, teach me, and change my future for the better, while communicating honestly and genuinely. If I had to do it all over again (I would have gone in sooner), and I would absolutely trust Dr. Yanni and his team with my whole life again. I found myself on the doorstep of Disc Comfort in June 2019 following an unenviable diagnosis of thoracic osteomyelitis (Google the definition). I had no previous spine injuries or surgeries. My spinal condition was a result of having cancer several years prior which left me to manage lymphedema and repeated cellulitis blood infections. I was referred to Dr. Daniel Yanni at Disc Comfort through the pain management office of Dr. Arie Gluzman. During my visit to Disc Comfort, I was impressed with Dr. Yanni's approachable demeanor, his willingness and patience to answer all my questions and most importantly, his extensive spinal surgical experience. My case would require thoracic vertebrae fusion of T7-T8, fabrication of a new disc using bone fragments and marrow and reinforcement of T4-T10 with plates and screws. After hearing this prognosis, like any consumer I sought out additional medical opinions to help calibrate the procedural options. The surgeons I met with were impressive however, Dr. Yanni had the edge. He was confident in his surgical capabilities (without the ego) and came across more "invested" in the outcome of my overall health and well-being. This gave me greater peace-of-mind as I prepared for a pretty scary surgery! I'm almost 90 days post-surgery and doing great! I had little to almost no pain throughout the process and am wearing a (not so sexy) brace and bone growth stimulator to assist in my recovery.
