BEST DENTIST EVER!!! I cannot recommend Dr. Tamura enough, he is quite simply the best! I've gone to him a few times now and every time it's a pleasant visit. Both Dr. Tamura and Robert are awesome people! My first found this place through Castlight after moving to this area. My prior dentist had done some shoddy work which caused me to live in pain. I thought it was something I would have to live with forever but after visiting Dr. Tamura for a routine dental visit, he noticed that my filling was not ideal and recommended I replace it. After replacing it, BOOM... no more pain! It was life changing and I am forever thankful to Dr. Tamura! He is very meticulous and you can tell he really cares! He doesn't try to upsell you on work you don't need. He's honest and is always more than happy to explain anything to you! You also get a great view of LA from his office as well! It had been a year since my previous cleaning, so despite my reservations with covid stuff, I went in for an appointment in mid-November. The office is taking every possible precaution. I was the only patient in the office the entire time I was there. They have air filters running in every room. Everyone is wearing a mask (Dr. Tamura also has a face shield on) and there's a plastic barrier at the front desk. You get your temperature taken and answer screening questions before you're even allowed in the waiting room. Dr. Tamura had me rinse with a hydrogen peroxide solution before treating me. I felt really safe the whole time I was there. And a bonus: no cavities! read more

I am writing this review as a result of my recent visits to Dr Tamura's office. This is my first yelp review ever but I felt compelled to share my experience as it was such a pleasant one. Having grown up with a mother in the dental field I only have fond memories of my trips to the dentist and in my search for a new dentist it is a high bar that has been set in terms of what I look for and expect. From the office manager Robert, who is friendly and welcoming and efficient to Dr Tamura who also shares those same qualities in addition to being an amazing dentist who has clearly been practicing dentistry for a while because his work is impeccable. I have been seeing Dr. Tamura for years. This office is the antidote of factory dentistry. It is an individual office, Dr. Tamura does everything himself including X-Ray and cleaning and nothing is ever rushed. I've been going to Dr. Tamura since 2001. In this time, I have moved away(back home) to the Bay Area between 2008-2011. It is within this time frame, when I was being treated by several highly recommended Dentists, that I was really able to see just how great Dr. Tamura really was. Around 2002, I got a Staph infection in my neck area, that required me to have several surgeries to try to clean up the area, and remove any dead tissue. The effects my Staph infection had on my teeth was severe.Several of my teeth simply "fell" out for no reason (being completely health teeth). And it appeared that, in time(they estimated approx.a 10-year span, I'd problem loosing a large percentage of my teeth, if they were not able to figure out a course of action. This scared me, like I can not explain. I do not have dental insurance either, so I was very scared, that ,I would, one day have to get dentures... It was a kick to my self-esteem, not to mention, my dental health(teeth/dental is SO key to good health),as well as,chewing comfortably, and how would I explain this to a date/potential boyfriend, without sounding so unattractive...not to mention, If things got serious...(Ugh)! I ended up moving back to Los Angeles, and was so happy to be able to go back to Dr. Tamura. He took the time to really listen(we talked for hours in consultation). He said he would do some research and confer with his colleagues, on what would be the beat course of action,to take,to try to save as many teeth as possible, keeping in mind my budget and nonexistence dental insurance. Dr. Tamura is a originally from Orange County, and is a graduate from USC dental. On top of this, and what I find to be Just as important, is his years of experience. He has such a "no-nonsense" approach, combined with Common sense, when it comes to coming up with a treatment plan/ course of action. I didn't feel like(as I have with other dentists), that I was paying for all there "new" latest and expensive high tech equipment. It is obvious Dr. Tamura's equipment is advanced and well used...not being overcharged to pay off all of it. But, back to what I like most about Dr. Tamura, is is Practical sense of dentistry. He has the prestigious schooling(USC), and the years of experience,and stay active on learning the latest techniques(he seems to really love what he does), but, most important to me, was his practicality in solving a problem...just basic good old fashion common sense! That is something I had found, when I saw several other dentists, was just their lack to "think outside the box(or should I say textbook)". Dr. Tamura solved a lot of my problems throw trial and error(without charging me for these), because, I felt, he wanted to truly Solve my unconventional problems the best way he could. He put in many hours after work on my case, again,without charging me over the original treatment plan. I paid upfront 100% of the treatment plan, and several 'New' and 'Unexpected' things came up, but Dr. Tamera didn't charge me ANY additional money!! This also, brings me to Dr. Daniel Tamura's pricing for the extensive amount of work he did on my teeth. Dr. Tamura's pricing is significantly Lower than the other dentist I have been too. For example, I use to go to a fellow USC graduate dentist, who was younger, with All the whistles and bells equipment(which I never needed). When I got his pricing, I was floored at the cost for the basic dental work. When I asked how come the prices where approx. 200% higher than the average dentist, in the LA area, he said, I was getting the best trained dentist(USC) and all the latest equipment available. With Dr. Tamura, I got SAME dental training plus, you get such a well rounded dentist, common Sense, and VERY Fair pricing, you realize that you really found a dentist for life! Not to mention, I was Refered to Dr. Tamura, when I asked my Primary Beverly Hills Doctor, for a suggestion of a dentist to go to, and (to no surprise to me now), he goes to Dr. Tamura himself! To sum up this review, I couldn't recommend Dr. Tamura enough. As of last week, I have had approx. 85% of my teeth: root canals and crowns, along with 2 bridges. As of last week, we put in my veneers(front teeth), that matched all the other crowns. My smile looks Fantastic!! Not "too white" and not "too perfect".He took a mold in the beginning of my regular teeth, and which he followed when making the molds of the veneers & crowns(an example of just common sense/experience, that I spoke on before). To Sum up Dr. Tamura, dds: 1) He's EXTREMELY fair in his pricing 2) He is Very GENTLE 3) His years of experience 4) A graduate of USC's prestigious dental school 5) My primary MD Uses Dr. Tamura for himself 6) His Practicality, in solving problems 7) I Paid, in full, for my treatment plan at the beginning, and despite finding Additional problems, he NEVER added any additional charges. read more

Favorite dentist ever? The answer is Yes. Dr. Tamura strikes the right balance between vigilant enforcer of oral health and a guy so skilled and likable that the sharp objects in your mouth are no trouble at all. I've never felt rushed, I've never felt upsold. He's also really great at knowing just how much pressure to apply about bettering one's dental hygiene! It's a no-frills environment, but I was very impressed with the quality of work and personalized service, but even more amazed that he does everything himself (x-rays, cleanings, etc) rather than a hygienist - so you really get his full, undivided attention. Dr. Tamura truly changed the way I feel about going to the dentist. I used to be so nervous about even going for a checkup that years would go by without a dentist visit! I lived in LA for about three years before a good friend recommended Dr. Tamura and I haven't looked back since. I had my first appointment with Dr. Tamura today and it was the first time a dentist hasn't reduced me to a ball of nerves. He does all the work himself as other reviewers have said, and obviously takes great pride in it--as he should. He fixed my crown, and I'm going back for a teeth cleaning in a few weeks. It'll probably be the first dentist appointment I don't dread, because of wonderful Dr. Tamura is and how great he is at dentistry. He discussed options for treatment and care with me, explained everything he was doing, and took his time to evaluate the troublesome tooth and figure out how to best fix it. I also really appreciated how helpful and kind the office manager, Jason, was when I called to schedule my semi-emergency appointment. Great practice, great dentist, great office manager.
