I can't express how grateful I feel to have come here, especially during a time of need. Yesterday, I had an amazing experience while getting my teeth pulled. Dr. Kalasho did lovingly "scold" me, but it came from a place of genuine care and concern. I truly felt like a VIP--watching Netflix with a weighted blanket, under-eye patches, and even provided reading glasses so I could relax comfortably while enjoying my movie. This morning, I woke up with no pain, just some expected soreness in my jaw, but no discomfort in the treated area. I was even able to go to work without any issues. I had no problems with the work done, or at least I though so.. In the spring of 2025, I went for a checkup, and Dr Kalasho was on leave and her replacement told me I developed another 2 cavities... just a few months after the original cavity was fixed. I couldnt believe my ears and I agreed to fix it. However, they had just closed the Hollywood office, and the closest location would have then been in Beverly Hills and I had no interest in visiting not even once. And I didnt have time to look for a new denist in the area. Fast forward to the spring 2026, I went to 2 different reputable denists in the area and they both said I had no cavity in that tooth.. I was in awe. Questions came flashing back.. Why every time did I have to sign the waiver 10x longer and more specific than at other denist's I have gone to? Why I was charged 5k for a crown that another denist said did not have that u-shape that teeth have to block most of the food in between the teeth? Was it as bad as I was made to believe? I don't know. But my suspicious makes sense. The office and the equipmennt that looked better than I have seen in Hollywood movies. Friendly chit-chat WITH LITERALLY EVERYONE in the office. Talking about families, sharing personal stories, laughing together. And then the friendly by the way reminder.. Do you want to prepay? HORRIBLE HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE !! I originally came in for internal bleaching of 1 Tooth (in the…read morefront). That Tooth had been chipped 18 years ago hence it had turned gray. I was seen by Dr.Lisha Gu - It seemed like she just barely graduated from Dental School because she initially said 1-2 Sessions would be sufficient. But guess what? I ended up coming in for 5 sessions! Valet Parking (the only parking they offer) costs $20 every time but what's $20 bucks when I had already paid $3,600 for my entire treatment plan?! What also made me feel insecure and not in good hands with this "Doctor" is that on 3 instances when I was laying on the doctors chair she would say silly comments to the dental assistant like "oops" or "ehhh yeah that doesn't look right" or " yeah my bad you were right", which makes me as the patient obviously feel worried,specially when you have anxiety about dental treatments and you're just laying there and she is laughing. But here comes the WORST part of it all : on my last Treatment, she put on that meal bracket thing you can see on the picture and my composite tooth which just flew off !! I could not feel anything since I don't have a nerve there but I could see the reaction of the dental assistant and Dr.Gu which was shocked and surprised, as if this was NOT supposed to happen. She freaked out and told me "don't worry I will fix it" . She did put on a composite filling temporarily but it only lasted me 2 Weeks when it broke off again. Mind you, I have had my previous composite filling done which lasted me for 18 years !!! And this woman can not even make it last a month? I don't really write much reviews and ignored all the red flags mentioned previously but since my tooth chipped yesterday, I called her BUT she refused to fix it (it only takes 20min. And she is the CAUSE of why it broke in the first place) I am so pissed that I think everybody should know what a heartless woman she is and only cares about your money. I even explained to her that I can not go to my regular dentist since they are fully booked for the next 2 weeks and I just can not walk around like this (see photos attached) but she said no I can't help you,go see your general dentist. So I ended up paying $550 just to get her mistake fixed by another dentist. Ps. The front desk lady is super dumb and makes a lot of mistakes, so make sure you got your appointment date &time right and no billing issues either. Even if you call them, they place you on a never ending 10min. hold and eventually hang up. Definitely don't waste your money here.

I should have known... my initial visit took several hours and they never called me back in regard to various issues (later discovered these services were declined by the state of CA and deemed not necessary). I liked the dentist because I thought he was funny. But he made a snide joke about my insurance not bringing in enough $$$. I laughed at the time. It was a sign. Normally dentists call you for the 6 month cleaning. Not here. I called THEM after 8 months and was given an appointment, but the lady called back to verify the insurance. So today I was dropped without notice, and now I get to find a new provider and get a whole new set of X-rays and what not. Or, I could pay $140.00 to this creature for a cleaning. Ha! I'm very disappointed because this is a temporary situation and I will have A+ insurance down the road. I won't come here though. Customer service is valuable to me. They could've let me know in January.

For the vulnerable population of Los Angeles (who are absolutely deserving of quality dental care just like anyone else!) it's hard enough as it is to find dentists who accept this insurance, so by removing yourself from the already tiny pool of providers, you're absolutely making it even harder for those folks -- and, quite honestly, saying they aren't deserving of your time and service. Hopefully, you at least make up for it by donating your time and skills to other dental non-profits that serve vulnerable populations instead (i.e. Operation Smile, etc). One can only hope! I saw Dr. Hakim back in April 2020 (read: the beginning of the literal shutdown of the entire world) but I had a crown on a back molar that was about to retire and demand a pension and I was desperate to see if it could be saved. I was absolutely thrilled when I called and they not only answered the phone, but were also willing to see a new patient...because as I said, the world was shut the hell down -- and that included dentist offices! But, I was also excited because my insurance is the worrrrrst and it's hard enough to find a provider even when the world isn't in the throes of a pandemic! So, I arrive and everyone is pleasant and we're doing that thing of pretending that things are "normal"...Dr. Hakim is super friendly, along with the assistants. But then I find out that the crown is a complete goner -- which was a complete shock, but he's the professional, so, okay? Then, he tells me that it'll need to be removed and I just won't have a tooth there. (Supposedly, it's due to insurance not covering replacement crowns on back molars? Though, I've since found out that wasn't true). What's more, he also informs me that another molar -- on the opposite side but in the SAME spot -- also needs to also be extracted. I'm floored. But, given that he truly seems very earnest/genuine, and admittedly, I hadn't been to a dentist in some time...annnnd that I legit didn't have the option to seek out a second opinion (again --it was the start of the shutdown of the pandemic -- I had no idea when dentists would start accepting non emergency cases again)...I said okay. Y'all...Y'ALL!!!! DON'T DO THIS! Unless, like, your teeth are rotting out of your head. Always. Get. A. Second. Opinion. ALWAYS. So, at that point, he removes the crown and sends me home with directions to come back a few days later for the second extraction. Y'all, it was awful. I cried and cried because if I happened to open my mouth to laugh or smile really big, there was a gaping hole from the missing tooth -- and within a few days, there was going to be yet another one. Soooooo, a few days later, I gather myself up, cry some tears on my drive over and go to face the music. Except...when I arrive--no one is there. Pardon me? There are 2 other folks waiting outside the office as well and they're pissed. One person had been there for an hour, another was a little old lady who didn't speak much English, but from what I gathered, she had been there for about 30-45 minutes. They both eventually gave up, but I knew that if I left, I'd NEVER return. So, I call the office number and after hours line and leave several VERY snippy messages asking what in the hell is up. Eventually, Dr. Hakim himself comes and opens the office -- I don't recall what exactly he said happened, but clearly it wasn't good enough reason for me to remember it 3 years later. So, we get in, and an hour passes as he gets everything set up and finally get down to business. Eventually I leave, sans another molar and plenty of dignity. Annnnd of course, wouldn't ya know -- I later find out that insurance absolutely would've covered the cost of replacing the old crown with a new one AND the second extraction was unnecessary. Bonus: My poor gums STILL have days where some food is just too tough to eat (and it's now been 3 years!)...and I can't switch sides, because -- ya know, he removed the molars ON BOTH SIDES! Double Bonus: He doesn't validate, parking is valet only and is $2.75/15 min or $22/max (so, just assume you're paying $22) -- and 95% of all the surrounding neighborhoods are permit parking only.
