Review for our first and likely only visit, lunch on September 15. I was nearly empty, so we got a great seat near the window overlooking the river. They serve her was very pleasant but appeared new and unfamiliar with the menu no matter in our orders got our drinks and had only a short wait until we're receiving some very disappointing sandwiches. My husband's Rueben was WET, not grilled to a crunch. My French dip was dry as hell. It wasn't tender shaved beef but a few thick slices of gray meat on a roll that had a hardened but once melted piece of cheese. A real disappointment all the way around. read more

The server I had was very sweet and a pleasant person to talk to. That is about as nice of a comment I have about this place unfortunately and I've tried to dine many times. The bartender: On a Saturday night, I witnessed the large woman bartender with a bun be very rude to one of her servers, as we were seated close to the bar. I then began to watch the staff as I waited 45 minutes for my food. The looks the other servers gave each other after watching the bartender be so rude to her young coworker made my heart sink--it was sickening. You could tell they feared her in a way, and could only give each other quick glances to show she was being a pain! I am very much of a people watcher, and after waiting so long for my food, I had to give myself something to do. The food- it was bland, and the cocktails were nothing special. I had come here once before in the summer when they had their "special summer menu" for drinks and had tried two different ones. They looked better than they tasted and that's all I have to say. Just your standard cocktail priced at $20 just for looks! If they were extra strong or tasty that would be one thing, but these were nothing special in any way, although named "special" on the menu. Conclusion: I've tried to give this place five chances, and each time I come in, it's a rude bartender, overpriced food, and plain old "special" cocktails for $15-20. I had tried to make the best out of this place as there are only so many places to go in town, but I can't do it anymore. I've only heard bad things about the manager there (who is rumored to be the daughter of Mr. Daniel), and I cannot support this small business anymore, and ESPECIALLY after hearing from multiple sources of her making multiple young high school/college girls cry. read more

Very cozy restaurant in a small quaint town. We were seated right away. Friendly service but SLOW. we weren't in a rush so enjoyed the view of the river out the window. Crabcake appetizer was very good. I ordered clam chowder and ceasar salad for my entree. Just mediocre. Says homemade dressing. But it was definitely not homemade. Croutons were store bought as well. Clam chowder was watery and bland. My husband had the fish and chips. Which claimed hand cut fries. Again, not true. Frozen for sure. Prices were reasonable. Stopped in here off of the highway while traveling back home from vacation. Didn't check out the reviews until we sat down. And I'm very glad we didn't. We were greeted right away, and immediately noticed the ambiance and view. Our server was Aimee. She was very kind and attentive. We got the prime rib sandwich and a Rueben. They were both great! Also- they had a good selection of beers. It's too bad a place like this can get such bad reviews-it can really hurt a business. It is shocking to see the bad reviews on this restaurant. We always have a good meal here and have tried multiple items from the menu including the ribs, burgers, butternut squash ravioli, and my husband's favorite, the penne. We have always had friendly service, great food, and it is one of our favorite date places to go that is close to home. The only downside is that their dessert menu could be better for options. read more

We had dinner here couple weeks ago for our anniversary, We're curious about the hype of this place its local, and we're always a big supporters of local businesses. Food was Ok, nothing gourmet-ish about it. Serving size of the food was so small for the price. service is a little slower, just ok. ambiance, it is by the river but just ok. The menus kinda confusing it's mixed of Italian. Mexican and few maybe American cuisines, I wasn't impress at all. Inside of the dining area is dark. Furnitures are old, the walls so dark /old, the pictures are the same, old. Our server was very nice, even though she almost forgot our chips, we had the dip just with carrots and celery, and return and gave us the chips that comes with it. is she for real?! In fairness, I read lots of reviews and often find patrons writing completely unfair reviews. Firstly it's highly unfair to punish an establishment because they offer separate lunch and dinner menus.. Lunch is designed to be less complicated and prepared by a completely different level of service staff in the kitchen and back of house. Dinners often require an experienced chef and team, while that staff operates they often prep enough so a line cook can handle a lunch business. That is where I'll start the basis of my review, of the restaurants lunch menu. My wife and I sat down at approx 2pm, well outside of the normal dinner offering, and not at all biased by that detail. We ordered the full rack of ribs, hit man wings, Bbq cheeseburger, and the clam chowder. To drink, waters and lemonade. Ambience is unique, clean, well lit, BEAUTIFUL VIEWS of the river, relatively quiet with some steely dan pseudo jazz playing, obviously the owners/managers choice.. lol (no judgement) At this point I'm at 5 stars prior to the meal.. I'll follow my beginning, with a middle and an end They can only hurt themselves from here on.. So, the ribs (boiled or baked / pressure cooked) not smoked, (a few decades of experience allows me to easily tell) bbq sauce was homemade, tasty, sweet, I prefer a little more peppery/spicy but I wasnt disappointed. The wings were tangy tasty and crispy, Enjoyed them. The Burger was actually perfect, perfect cooked great taste, and the perfect lunch The clam chowder was a homemade recipe, heavy on the potatoes, and perfect texture. Comparing to Legal it isnt quite inauguration worthy but certainly a tasty local treat (chowders aren't all supposed to taste the same are they?) Service was attentive and courteous. Cant wait to come back for dinner.. People should be fair in their star allocation imho.. I recently took my family and was very disappointed. First, the elderly gentleman who showed us to our seat was unfriendly we ordered the appetizer of nachos with chicken. I specifically asked what kind of chicken and she said it was shredded. The chicken looked like it came from a can. It was disgusting. There was very little cheese, some large, giant, canned chopped tomatoes. I had Mexican chicken salad. The avocado was brown. No cheese or scallions and the lettuce was rotten. Sent it back. Came over here to meet an old friend from College and colleagues from my military career. She had been here before but I hadn't. My experience was superb and we shall return. The setting is magnificent. I can't wait to return here on a cool Summer day to enjoy the beautiful views of the river and the settling sound of the waters. Although on the town's main thoroughfare, the location seems away from civilization and is a welcome respite for today's busy life. Service was very good. Our waitress was punctual and attentive. I had the Waldorf Salad with added Salmon and it was superb. The salmon was delicately cooked to perfection. Next time we'll come over here for dinner. If you're charging 1.99 for a glass of ice and soda without refills you already lose a star. Grade: C Ordered the calamari to start. Tasted fresh and lightly battered with a pesto drizzle and chunky marinara. Grade: A Soup of the day was a mushroom bisque which was good, but under seasoned. Grade: B Entree: New York Sirloin medium rare. Sad to say, it came out overcooked and tasted like it was defrosted. Meat was grey and under seasoned. Lady got the baked haddock which was average with the fish tasting a bit powdery meaning it wasn't the freshest. Grade: C There was only 2 other patrons there so the staff was attentive and the scenery was nice for being along the river. Waitress awesome, drinks were just ok, watery and so expensive. The chicken was my only complaint about the food, it was so tough, with 0 taste...not edible. Also, had a chicken burrito to go for my daughter, it had 0 taste and smelled rancid we threw it out. We were told by the owner/manager to please be patient when we came in due to a short staff. That was fine. We ordered our food and awhile later were told that the gas was off in the kitchen and only soup and salads were available. Ok, we adapted and said ok. The trouble came when other people were coming in and ordering other items such as hamburgers and pizza off the menu. Apparently the gas had come back on and that was never communicated to us. We talked to the waiter about this and he relayed our concerns to the owner/manager, who did not come and speak to us directly. Our meal was comped, however, we will not be returning. This area is hurting for good food but this restaurant takes the cake. Absolutely the worst food imaginable starting with clam chowder, followed up with seafood platter. For $28 got mostly fries which were the only thing I ate. I tried the haddock,clam,scallop and shrimp searching for something palatable but could not get them down. Same with my wife's salmon and "boiled" Brussels sprouts. They should be embarrassed serving this stuff. The server asked how it was and we were honest. First Review - It was nothing to rave about. The food was mostly good the prices could be better. The cook needs to learn how to prepare simple mashed potatoes and they were stingy with the beans. We ordered a pitcher of beer & it came in a pitcher that was half the normal size of a pitcher. The deck was nice but the guard rail was too high to see the river from a sitting potion. The chairs are cheap 4 dollar plastic chairs that are quite uncomfortable. On an up note the waitress was right on the ball though Last Night's Review- The first review was written back in 2015.. We went back last night to find that not only have they not improved their food/service but they have gotten MUCH worse. We ordered beer wings & nachos.. simple enough right? WRONG. It took OVER 25 minutes for the food to hit the table (appetizers.. imagine if we had ordered meals!) The wings were over cooked dry & cold & the nachos were cold as well. The waitress came over to ask if everything was alright & I told her the wings were over cooked & tough.. she "apologized" & hurriedly walked away.. really?
