A new restaurant and bar just opened on NH 114 in Henniker, next door to the All In One Market convenience store/deli & gas station, about a mile north of Pat's Peak. This restaurant and bar used to be Willow Bakery & Cafe and Henniker Junction. Presently at the time of this posting, they are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner Thursday to Monday. The atmosphere here lives up to its name which has a rustic casual atmosphere with finished wood trim walls and wood booths and tables with a separate carpeted dining room and a bar area with seating at the bar, additional tables, TVs, serving beer, wine, cocktails, and mixed drinks. The breakfast menu offers egg dishes, bennies, omelets, pancakes, French toast, waffles, breakfast sandwiches, biscuits & gravy, muffins, and breakfast sides. The lunch & dinner menu offerings include burgers plates with sides, sandwich plates with sides, appetizers, salads, soup, chili, seafood dinners with sides, chicken tenders, pasta dinners with salad & bread (after 4pm), dinner entrees with sides (after 4pm, fajitas, pork loin ribs, smothered steak tips). The prices here seem pretty reasonable, many breakfast entrees under $11 and most lunch & dinner entrees $9.99 to $27.99. I stopped by Rustic Rose Tavern over the weekend. They are still on a soft opening schedule and they had oven issues recently which is delaying their grand opening. Upon entering, I could sit anywhere and I sat in the dining room at a booth. The staff here is still in training. I ordered the Chicken Marsala ($14.99 plus tax) served with side salad and garlic bread. Presently, they are using regular silverware, paper plates, bowls and plastic dishes. The side salad came out first, which had a mix of crunchy lettuce, tomatoes, green peppers, red onions, and cucumbers. I was given a small cup of BBQ sauce instead of balsamic vinaigrette dressing, the waitress was probably confused with the B on the lid. I decided to keep the BBQ sauce when my Chicken Marsala entree arrived in a round black plastic bowl with the baked buttered garlic bread. The portion was just right, a grilled boneless chicken breast over soft linguine tossed with plenty of mushrooms & onions in a creamy white wine sauce. The chicken was a bit tough and chewy which I cut up and dipped into the BBQ sauce, yummy! I enjoyed my creamy pasta dinner alongside the side salad and garlic bread. I finished all of my food and the waitress promptly clear my table and brought over the check which had a Toast QR code, which enabled me to quickly scan the code and pay online. The staff here was very friendly and welcoming. Overall, my food tasted pretty good and I would definitely stop in for breakfast!

Our first time, for lunch. Pleasantly surprised to find some really good food generously plated. Our server was fun and nicely attentive. The Cuban sandwich had wonderful tender ham and pork with a sweet pickle that balanced the cheese. Served on a lightly toasted roll. Chicken tenders had that inner juicy-outer crunch that required no dipping sauces, that were also available. Look forward to returning and trying breakfast next. Good job, Rustic Rose.

Allagash Beer.. Cold and filled to the rim!

Fantastic Service, food was amazing and prices were so affordable. Great little find! Hopefully they will get the traction and customer flow they deserve!

We ordered scallops, which came with fries, baby carrots, and a side salad, which was quite good. Some of the better fries we have had in a while, the carrots had a nice flavor and were not mushy and had a nice snap to them. The scallops were very good. A nice variety of music was playing and it just made it feel quite comfortable. Our server was very good. They do charge a NH Hospitality Program fee, which is mandatory. We were advised it can be waived if requested.

WARNING: Unaccompanied women are unwelcome at Country Spirit. I never would've guessed that…read moremisogynist businesses like this still exist, certainly not in the northeast. The mostly female staff are not only highly unprofessional, but (most of them) also clearly struggle with "internalized sexism". Following is only a sampling of actual events that made me feel very uncomfortable and unsafe. I typically only post exemplary reviews, but feel a strong moral obligation to warn other women. According to my bank records, during the past 5 years living in the area, I've been to Country Spirit every couple months or so. I've taken friends and dates there, who all complained about the food and service; but I kept going because it was a handy local spot for quick lunch or takeout. When visiting solo, I'd usually sit at the bar and grew accustomed to long waits for service. Many visits, the longtime patrons (mostly men) helped me get the bartenders' attention. Several voluntarily reassured me that "this is just how female bartenders treat female customers." So, I decided to not take it personally, and always gave the same 25%++ generous tips that I do everywhere I go. Aside from service, at least 2 takeout orders contained wheat bread, even though I'd explicitly ordered gluten-free (due to my tumor from celiac disease). Each time, I patiently waited 20 more minutes for them to recook my meals. Another visit last year, I asked a cook why the prime rib was overdone (even though I'd ordered it before the serving time); and he assured me it was a one-time anomaly that would never happen again. But sadly, it did happen again. Oct'2025, I'd stopped going there for 8 months, because I'd simply had enough of the horrible service and food. A few weeks ago, I gave it one more chance and had a brief pleasant visit. Today, I stopped in for a late afternoon cocktail; and after a sip of my drink, one of those same longtime patrons began complaining about a couple bartenders by names. I nodded empathetically, but added nothing. So, I was SHOCKED that within seconds, one of the 5 female staff targeted only me and asked me to step outside. She didn't even know MY Name, but asked me to leave (and not return), because I'd allegedly been "repeatedly badmouthing" the establishment. I asked how that was possible if I barely spoke to anyone today and only stopped in twice over the past 9 months!? She insisted that she was relaying this from the Owner (Sara?) who I'd never even met before. Obviously, banning any customer on baseless paranoia (in lieu of any civil resolution) demonstrates only emotional volatility, NOT professionalism. I'm nearly 50yrs old and a semi-retired business professional and my wardrobe reflects that. I live a quiet peaceful life and have never heard of anything like this. Even-so, I kept calm, debunked her false accusations and wild exaggerations, then peacefully left. Ultimately, I'm grateful to have finally been exposed to the utter lack of "spirit" at Country Spirit. I hope no other women endure this pointless targeted harassment, and shall trust my instincts if I'm ever treated with such disrespect and disregard ever again.

The service was average to poor likely due to understaffing. We got there and waited and waited to be seated. Finally sat and waited again for our drink order. The Guinness was very good from the tap. The menu was Irish fare so all good.. Had bangers and mash and my friend had beef stew. The 4 sausages were okay but overcooked. A few were blackened. The mashed potatoes were flat out disgusting. They had a weird taste so I don't know how they were made or if they were old from the fridge. The clearly didn't use butter and milk to make it creamy and rich. The side of beans was in a little cup and tasted like they were from a can. No onion gravy that you normally find on this dish. My stomach was doing cartwheels last night and not feeling great this morning. My friend had beef stew and seriously it looked like all gravy. Not hearty at all. He said it was okay. My wife had salmon and she said it was average. Nothing remarkable about it. Too bad.
