We bought two very nice rocker swivel chairs right before the covid shutdown in 2020. I've ended up sitting in one of them almost non-stop since then, as I work from home, and it's become my command-central spot. Not only have the chairs held up perfectly since then, the one time I had a cord problem from one of my own silly free-range guinea pigs who managed to quite mangle one of the cords (no animals were harmed, thank goodness and now blocked off), but when we couldn't fix it ourselves, they came out, picked up the chair, FIXED it, and returned it, practically within an hour!! OMG. I work in ecommerce and deal in customer service every day, all day, and I have to say, this was by far the BEST customer service I've ever experienced. Holy Smokes, I'm impressed! read more

My husband and I purchased two Stressless Mayfair chairs (large) with a Signature base. Our shopping experience was nice, low key. We made a few trips to the store to sit in the chairs and were always warmly greeted and never felt any pressure to buy. Now that we have had them awhile, I thought it would be good to review these chairs. The chairs are well made. They have a nice wood trim and the leather is buttery soft. There are many colors of leather available and leather grade options. The Signature style allows a swivel which I love and a slight rocker effect. The comfort level is off the charts. Whether reading, watching tv or just reclining for a nap, you will experience the greatest comfort level possible in my opinion. We are absolutely thrilled with our purchase and the customer service that we received was excellent. read more

This is a very interesting furniture store! It feels very cozy and there are a lot of furniture pieces that you may not find anywhere else. The furniture designs are very sleek and functional. As the name mentions, they imported their furniture from the Scandinavian countries, although if you look at the information placards on the furniture, sometimes the "made in" portion is from a different country I.e. Thailand. We were interested in some of their dining tables. Many of them use teak wood so it feels quite hearty. They also carry the Stressless chairs which are extremely comfortable. If you're in search for a lounge chair I highly recommend these. When you sit in them your body just bends into the most comfortable position ever! read more

Unbelievable customer service, loyalty to customers, and helpful staff ! We bought a leather Stressless Recliner about 35 years ago at Danish Concepts. We went into the store and told them that the locking mechanism on our chair was broken and we could not find one online. They asked us to take a picture of the chair and see if we still had an indication of the company. We did and they told us they had the parts and would fix it for us if we brought in. My husband did that and the helpful gentleman spent a good half hour fixing it and helped him put it back in the car as well. The chair is almost like new after 35 years ! One cannot ask for more than that for customer service and loyalty to your clients ! read more

I've bought two Ekornes Stressless recliners from Carl within 4 months apart, not just because they have a complete selection of those nice Ekornes recliners that I can try before I buy, it's all about service. Carl and his store members are extremely courteous when me and my wife visit their store. They never pressured us to buy anything but always there when we need to ask questions. Yes, they don't offer cheap stuff, but you do get what you pay for, period. If I need another Ekornes furniture in the future again, I will not hesitate for a second to go back to them. read more

I'm writing this on behalf of my friend who is dying of brain cancer. She would file this complaint herself is she was well, but she is quite ill and has limited energy. I suggested going to Danish Concepts to buy a chair as I had heard these "stressless" chairs were great chairs and we wanted to find something comfortable since she is experiencing a lot of body pain. We bought a $1,743.00 chair. The problem is with the headrest on this chair. She is about 5'1" and the headrest hits the back of her head in such a way that it pushes her head forward in very uncomfortable way. We were willing to "trade up" and spend even more for a more appropriate chair but owner Vagn Jensen wouldn't even consider it. He flatly refused to exchange the chair for a more appropriate model that would work for my friend. Basically he said "Too bad, you are stuck with it". For a $1,743.00, we hoped to find something that would work. I found Vagn to be unpleasant and rude. In this economy, it seems a bad way to do business. I would NEVER shop here again and hope you take this into consideration if you are planning to. read more

I love this place. Lot's of Scandinavian and modern furniture to browse. Of course that means lots of teak, but also other options including some less expensive items made in Vietnam. People are very nice. Willing to help but they will also leave you alone to browse and tryout all you want undisturbed. They sell the Ekornes brand line of Stressless ergonomic chairs and sofas with lots of models to try out. Because most are a custom order, they encourage you to take your time and make sure you find the one that's right for you. When I told the salesman which model of chair I had settled on, he told me that I might want to wait to order since it would likely go on sale in a few weeks. Pretty rare these days. read more

Wow, this is one exceptional store. I loved shopping there and only wish I had a bigger house that needed more furniture. The quality of the furniture is excellent. We bought a fjords recliner that rocks and swivels, and it's terrific. And after that we bought a platform bed and 2 nightstands that are absolutely perfect. We were encouraged to think about what we wanted to order, to come back as often as we wished, and to measure and check measurements. I love the mom-and-pop feel of the store, and it was worth every penny and every visit. I recommend this store highly. read more

If you are looking for ergonomic sofa and chairs, they have every single model of Ekornes on display. Staff is EXTREMELY patient, friendly, and not pushy at all. They are very consultative and encourage you to take lots of time to try out different pieces. Value is good. Ekornes strictly enforce pricing, but Danish Concepts provide free shipping and assembly (white glove delivery). Highly recommended! read more

Walking into this store makes me happy. I love the beautiful furniture, wide selection and the good quality. The salesfolks are helpful, patient, friendly and not overbearing. I tend to go back several times before I purchase since the furniture is not inexpensive and I want to ensure that I'm making the right decision. They are always friendly even when I don't make a purchase. The owner is a wealth of knowledge - the store's been there for many many years and he knows his stuff! I described for him a specific item of teak furniture that I wanted and he did research and found it for me! Awesome! Their delivery service is good and they do all the assembly and setup. I recommend this store! I am very happy with all the furniture I've purchased from them. Bottom line, you can get slightly less expensive scandanavian furniture at other stores, but you'll find that the quality is poor, the service is minimal and the wood isn't very robust. Best customer service! We visited the store months ago looking for 2 Stressless chairs. Carl was extremely knowledgeable and helpful, and once we picked out our chairs he let us know that if we could wait three months, they would be on sale. We did that and saved a lot of money. Our beautiful chairs were delivered and set up. We had a small issue with one of the tray tables and they came back immediately to correct the problem. Teak furniture is a work of art and fills my house like an old forest of trees gathering for comfort. Many years ago we purchased a wall unit from this store. Always costumers are treated well like in a Lexus Dealership. However in the course of those many moons ago, the wall unit became chipped, warped and misaligned, like a pre teen's smile from overcrowded teeth, from multiple moves and the stress of wear and tear. It also became an antique, not fitting in with the new pieces we replaced over the years. The once loved wall unit became the object of marital conflict, and took up too much room with a growing family, so it needed to be sent away, like an unwanted pet, who bit someone without reservation. The wood unit hid in shame as it sagged against the wall, weakened with too many heavy books, blocking people from moving around the house. So after much deliberation, it was decided to be sold, and an advertisement was issued to release it from bondage in our home. The problem was the only people who were interested in it wanted to re-purpose it, cutting it down to a different structure, like an ice statue that starts off as a chunk of solid mass, and becomes something else, leaving most of it as firewood. So the only choice left was to publicize the wall unit as a forlorn family pet, one who had dutifully served its master many years, but now needed to find a new home because its family had outgrown it. Several answers to the newspaper ad came through dumbfounded as they responded with hesitation, as to why we would part with such a beautiful piece of furniture. One woman even suggested a ridiculous amount of money should be asked to compensate its worth. The result was to post an ad over Craigslist, for free, to remove this monstrosity that was taking up too much space in our lives. The problem with Craigslist is that it comes with seriously frightening stories of the criminal element eliciting business requests. To make a long story short, the man who answered my ad arrived alone to pick it up with fear in his eyes, like I was one of those nefarious females who traps men like a black widow spider. He was trembling when I opened the front door, and kept an eye on me over his shoulder, as he entered my home. Now Alfred Hitchcock and I do share a birthday, but I am in no way scary or dangerous. I was rejoicing in getting rid of this wood unit, and its new owner only saw beauty, overlooking the furniture's faults. A match made in heaven for sure. A neighbor was brought in to lift the unit to his truck. And again I received the creepy stare. Why would I give away an antique, leave my front door open, stand outside so as not to frighten this poor soul? My guess is that some people only bond with inanimate objects, and refuse to see the good in people for fear of rejection, just like my wall unit. As my wall unit projected rejection, its new owner understood these feelings. It was kismet in its highest form. So if you ever feel the sentimental pull of an old piece of furniture, let it go to find its higher purpose, and reclaim your new space with joy. read more

It took me a while to come to the point of wanting to buy some "grown up" furniture. When I did I shopped around a lot and did my research. The sales staff is very knowledgeable and low pressure (the opposite of most furniture stores). The inventory is great. The reason that I am writing the review though is that the service level of the delivery guys (Carl & Daniel) is out of this world! They put so much passion into making sure the drawers are set up perfectly and take a huge amount of time to make sure that the details are all taken care of. They spent 15 minutes on one drawer to make sure it was perfect - not almost perfect, but perfect. This store does not tack on costs, they just sell high quality furniture at fair prices. I stopped by Danish Concepts today and found the largest selection of Stressless and Ekornes chairs in the bay area. I searched and called everyone I could find in the bay area and found that Danich Concepts were the only ones that had ever model the Stressless line and in Medium and Large. Their pricing was the same as the best I saw anywhere on the internet. They checked up on me twice once I got there and agin about 40 minutes latter. The rest of the time they left us alone to test out the seating in the showroom. read more

They were much better than the variety of appliance delivery folks we've dealt with in the past. They made sure we understood the furnitures' features and how to adjust it. Being a long time fan of Ekornes loungers and owning two for a number of years, I was thrilled to find our dream living room furniture at Danish Concepts. Everyone there was so helpful and patient with all of our questions. They really know their business and are a pleasure to work with. I loved seeing the Danish Concepts truck roll up to MY house with the beautiful sofa and love seat (right on time and exactly as scheduled). The delivery crew handled the pieces very professionally and in a friendly manner. Once you sit on an Ekornes sofa or chair, you just don't want to get up for a long time. The staff is very friendly, however we found we were victim of a bait & switch: we were shown various floor models of Ekornes couches, and they were all very comfortable with high quality foam components. Based on how well the floor models were holding up and how comfortable they remained despite being sat on all the time by prospective customers, we were happy to purchase an Ekornes couch. However, the Ekornes couch that arrived at our house had inferior quality foam, that felt somehow "wrong" the moment we received it. This inferior foam degraded very quickly with light use in just a few months (less than an hour a week of being sat on by light to average-weight people): both the seat cushions and the seat backs now compress like a very soft marshmallow in all the wrong places, only the corner piece's foam has remained resilient and is still comfortable. For the rest of the couch, it feels like sitting in very uncomfortable, cup-shaped bowls! Now we have to figure out a way to get rid of this monstrosity. Outwardly, the Ekornes couch looks just like the floor model -- however, it's what's on the inside that counts, and in this case, the cheaper, low-resilience foam used in the actual couch shipped to us (vs. the high resilience foam in the floor models) turns an otherwise great couch into a piece of junk that is uncomfortable and even somewhat painful to sit on for more than a few minutes. We later found out that a friend had also purchased an Ekornes couch from here about a year before we did, with the exact same thing happening to his couch. This store does not let you examine the actual couch you will get ahead of time, they only let you examine the floor model. We have tried finding a way to replace all the bad seat and back foam in the Ekornes couch we receieved, and have discovered no easy way to do so (the cushions are molded and attached to the couch). Since High Resilience and Low Resilience foam are made out of the same material, they can claim that they technically did not give us a different "ingredient" in their couch; however, high resilience foam has much more mass (more foam molecules per cubic inch) than low resilience foam, and is therefore much more durable and resilient (and of course expensive to build with). On the other hand, low resilience foam has a much shorter lifespan, and becomes too compressable too quickly for use in a high-end couch. We would not have purchased the Ekornes couch if we had been able to check out the actual foam we would receive in the couch ahead of time in this store. My suggestion: I recommend searching online for reviews and ratings of the model you want, by people who recently purchased it (a brand that may have been good several decades ago may not be good anymore). Don't let this store's floor models deceive you! read more

Every room in our home contains at least one piece of furniture from this store, and most rooms contain several. We have purchased dining tables, dining room cabinets/hutches, book cases, end tables, sheet music cabinets, desks, and on and on from this store. The quality of the furnishings is first rate. The employees and owner know me by sight, are always pleasant, delivery is efficient, etc. But they have denied me a repeat buyer discount each time I have asked. You pay their astronomical prices, no exceptions made. I purchased a beautiful table ELSEWHERE last week for about 1/3 of the price, and we are thrilled with it. The teak thing is wearing off on me, not only for environmental reasons, but because the owners of this store are short-sighted in their business practices with customers. read more

We bought two chairs less than three and a half years ago that cost more than $2700 each. Part of why we were willing to spend so much is the alleged quality and warranty. The first problem is that my 6'2" husband hasn't been able to keep the headrest up as it is supposed to. Then he had a mechanical issue that they had to send someone out to take care of, all within the first few months. Fast forward three years and we have moved out of the area. Of course less than a week after our move the chair that previously had no problems broke and is now laying flat on the floor. My husband called and was informed that the warranty really only is from the store and since we moved all they can do is mail a plastic part after he sent them a picture of the chair. The part arrived with no instructions and we have no idea what to do with it. I doubt it will do anything to fix the problem. I am extremely disappointed with the quality of the chairs and services from Danish Concepts and would strongly advise against doing business with them unless you want to waste thousands of dollars. read more
