They say customer service is dead but it's alive and well at Terra Mountain View... We came looking for a replacement outdoor table and chairs, and perhaps a new pergola or umbrella. We had looked around online so had a decent idea of what we were looking for and what we didn't want (teak, for example). Annie and Maia were both very helpful -- letting us casually browse the selection outdoors and indoors, answering questions whenever we asked, and even looking up colors, styles, and delivery times for different configurations. Of course, what we thought we wanted wasn't what we bought -- glad we went to an in-person showroom. In under an hour, we settled on a table/chairs with expected delivery in 1 week (much less than we had thought). The price was fair -- more than Costco but less than other high end places. The furniture arrived when promised and setup happened quickly. They take all of the packaging away with them. Unfortunately, we noticed two small imperfections -- nothing structural but we expected pristine furniture for the price. Annie took care of it for us with no hesitation and four weeks later we had replacements. We've had the furniture for a few months now and are happy with our decision. This is an update to a review I posted a little while ago. After complaining about the lack of rocks in the fire pit I purchased the district manager called me to apologize and sent me four bags of additional rocks at no charge. They were clearly trying to remedy the situation. That was a nice thing to do. I am still waiting for my 10 chairs that were promised in mid September. read more

Do NOT shop here if you have small kids. I went in today wearing my 9mo and pushing my 3yo in a stroller. I strongly believe in and support mask wearing policies so my 3yo and I were both wearing masks. My 9mo was not because it's unsafe and not recommended. When I got into the store, they told me I'd have to put a mask on my 9mo in order to shop there. Even though it's not even possible to find a mask for a 9mo or even get her to keep one on, I told them requiring children under 2yo to wear a mask goes against CDC, state, and county guidance. It's not safe as children at that age can choke on them or suffocate in them. They didn't care. Anyone who so brazenly goes against guidance and endangers small children will not be getting my business. read more

I'm looking at all the teak places nearby. I've been to 5. For the 3 that are located on the Peninsula, Terra's teak quality is probably a close second to Blue Sky. However, unlike the other two places, Terra sells a lot of non-teak furniture as well. Dave, the store manager, was also very helpful and provided good customer service. Being physically limited & immune suppressed, I reluctantly trusted my designer friend's aesthetic and agreed to hertaking me to Terra. I'm happy to say my reluctance was misplaced. Very! Maya, the trained assistant, was well masked, the place was airy, and the furniture well grouped and spaciously arranged. Nothing was too much for Maya and my designer friend Lisa. Maya knew her inventory well; Lisa knew my tastes. They worked seamlessly together, brought things to me, cheerfully brought new ones, and listened patiently to my muffled comments. Within an hour--yes, one hour--they made it easy for me to decide on and purchase a table, six chairs with cushions and throw cushions, and an outdoor floor mat--all high quality (I'm fussy) Contrary to places that charge five times as much, the products were available or will arrive soon. In fact, we left with the throw cushions (Maya scooted around and foraged extras from mysterious places) and the outdoor floor mat. Four days later I received courteous notice that the table would arrive, which it did, together with all the cushions for the chairs, which will arrive at the end of the month. The manager was delighted to hear how happy I was with Maya. Both stayed well beyond closing time to ensure all was wrapped up for me and one other customer. Go. Skip the high profile places. You'll be as pleasantly surprised as I--& believe me, I am not an easy customer: I have high standards & sadly little energy to bring to such projects. read more

I only wish that I had a need to buy more furniture, as this was one of the best purchasing experiences I've had in a long, long time. David, the owner of the Mountain View shop, was outstanding, provided a friendly, stress-free environment. He was honest, open, and fair. He discounted as he could, and was honest where he could not. He remembered your name, and made you feel welcome. Kids were playing on trampolines, people were trying out different pieces, and overall, it was just a relaxing place to purchase furniture. When the furniture arrived, the cushions were not available for another few days, so David threw in some cushions to use while the others were on backorder, so the furniture could be used. it was comfortable, high quality, and there was zero "buyers remorse". Bottom line, the experience was great, the quality is high, and the price was right. I could not suggest it more. read more

This place is awesome. I was a walkin off the street and decided to take my chances. We came in to buy a trampoline and ended up buying a trampoline, play structure and hot tub. Dave, the store manager, was super helpful - truly felt focused on being helpful as opposed to just upselling. He followed up in the weeks after we placed our order, helped us thru delivery and installation issues. Then he came thru again recently (six months later) when we were in the market for some additional outdoor furniture. When we found a defective piece, Dave simply had a replacement part delivered to our house, within two days, at no charge - without us even asking for that. Great product and exceptional service. I stopped to check out the outdoor furniture selection. I've been shopping around for a comfortable/durable set. First the staff were unhelpful and not attentive at all. Mostly busy on the phone seemed like social media. Second the selection of outdoor furniture they had on display was not comfortable at all, and if you paid attention a lot of pieces were damaged and are fabric damage just from sitting on the floor indoors. Check out the outdoor stuff in the back. The prices they are asking for is a joke. Worst outdoor furniture store I've ever been to. Don't waste your time at this location. read more

Good place to look for quality outdoor furniture that is a cut or two above the Costco brands but priced a bit lower compared to the top end brands like Brown Jordan. Pretty knowledgeable staff. They aren't high pressure. They are transparent with prices and you can see the same prices as their website shows. Delivery charges are average. They give you 3 years of warranty through them on what they sell (even if the manufacturer warranty is shorter). They don't have that many great sales, but if you shop there off season (I'd guess Nov through Feb) they do some better prices. They have some attractive modern/contemporary/clean designs and styles. Most are a combination of metal (stainless steel or aluminum) and teak. They have a couple of all wood and at least one all metal design as well. read more

We had been looking for some high quality patio furniture for a while. We originally purchased a set from Costco online, but were extremely disappointed in the quality. We drove from Santa Cruz to Mountain View to check out the furniture at Terra Patio. Our daughters LOVED playing on the trampoline, which in turn made shopping easier for us. We were very impressed with the selection. The quality was top notch and the designs they offered were all very beautiful. We actually had a hard time choosing. We purchased a set and brought it home. One of the chairs had a bent frame which caused it to wobble. When I spoke with the manager, he offered to deliver a replacement chair to Santa Cruz and waived the delivery charge. We truly enjoyed working with this company. read more

After doing research, I found out that JumpSport and AlleyOop are the best trampolines. Their website said that the closest retailer for these trampolines was Terra Teak, which was 10 minutes from our house. On a rainy afternoon, I took my 2 girls and their friend to Terra Teak. David, the manager, let the girls go nuts. They jumped on the trampoline, played on the play structure for over an hour. In the meantime, I perused the shop. They have high quality outdoor furniture, hot tubs, and kids' play things. I told my husband about the place. He was skeptical but came to the store the following day. He really loved the merchandise there AND the manager. We ended up buying not only a trampoline but also a play structure AND a hot tub. David is honest and gives great deals on high quality products. He's also able to deal professionally and get along well with sometimes ornery people like my husband (who is not a people pleaser to say the least). Whenever we need stuff for our backyard, we now go to David. We're confidant he'll give us expert advice, show us the latest products, and give us a great deal. read more

I am 3 deliveries in, and they still haven't gotten my order right. I ordered 2 lounge chairs with cushions, a table with 2 benches, 2 chairs and 3 planters. First delivery: showed up late and made me feel guilty for calling to see if they were actually coming. Didn't call the day before as they said they would. Delivered a used table and bench (instead of the new that I bought), one new bench, chairs, wrong lounge chairs, no cushions, no planters. Never contacted me about it, I wrote them an email with no response. Called them and they basically told me I was an idiot for expecting the crew to tell them they'd delivered the wrong stuff and for emailing instead of calling. Also apparently it was my fault because my order was "super complicated". Not really sure what is complicated about a table and some chairs and planters. Second delivery. Swapped out the lounge chairs for the correct ones but forgot the cushions and didn't know anything about them. Still no delivery of the planters. No swap of the used table and bench. Third delivery. Showed up with the planters, said they didn't know anything about the cushions or the used table. I'm about 2 months into the saga of attempting to get outdoor furniture from them. The quality of the actual furniture seems high but the process is so time consuming and maddening... and it's not clear that I'll ever get my order completed. Avoid if you can, there are better options who will actually deliver what you buy and not make you feel bad for asking for the order to be corrected. read more

Full disclosure: I received free shipping for writing a review. There was no pressure to make it a positive review. My wife and I just purchased a teak table for our back patio. It's 6', then extends to 9' with two leaves stored inside the table, and includes a hole for an umbrella. The table seems to be very high quality: sturdy, well-constructed, and attractive. The prices on the tables are reasonable given the quality (ours cost ~$1050 before tax). The chairs, umbrellas, etc. seem a little more expensive, but again, seem to be high quality. They include a 3-year warranty at no charge, and I wouldn't be suprised if they helped you after that if you had an issue with material or workmanship. What impressed me the most was the service. Both the salesman we worked with, and the gentlemen I think is the owner, were very helpful and knowledgable. They clearly explained the benefits and drawbacks of teak, including the various options for care. They didn't apply pressure. When we weren't ready to buy, for example, they said, "We'll honor this weekend's sale prices for you for two weeks, so you have time to think about it." When they understood our budget, they suggested good options, like mixing a nicer table, with less-expensive chairs. The sailsman said they do not operate on commission. I just bought the table, so I can't speak to it's long-term quality yet. read more

I bought a hot tub here last June and had a great experience. (I'd been to 3 other local hot tub stores - some were dirty, some tried to up-sell me, others carried random lines.) David was really friendly and professional. (I loved the fact that my two kids could play on the trampoline while I got my questions answered and made decisions.) They carry Dimension One spas - a line that has been around for a long time. When I first called they offered to stay open a bit later so I could make it in after work, when I had a question later I called in and another employee was happy to look up my order to answer my question. David didn't pressure me at all or try to sell me something other than what I was describing I wanted. I appreciated the low key environment. The tub was delivered a few days before I was told to expect it which was great. I LOVE my hot tub - it's the first time I've owned a hot tub and now spend almost an hour in it every night. We visited Blue Sky, Tom's, Teak in the Garden, Java Teak and Terra Patio in our hunt for our outdoor furniture. We ended up purchasing at Terra Patio for a number of reasons including: -We liked the quality of their teak furniture -A good selection of furniture to choose from. Even if it isn't displayed on the floor, they might have certain sizes/styles in stock. It never hurts to ask! This was the case with our coffee table where they had a 20 in and 42 in on the floor but a 24 in in stock in their warehouse. -Competitive pricing. In our research, we found Terra Patio wasn't the cheapest outdoor furniture store around but we were willing to pay more for the quality of Terra Patio and are hopeful the furniture will last a long time. -The staff is really friendly and helpful. I believe they work as a team. We visited more than once and encountered different salespeople each time. We were never pushed to buy from one person so they could get the commission. The furniture, sans the cushions which we were pre-informed as back-ordered arrived in less than a week. I was really impressed with the quick shipment as I'm used to waiting around for furniture. Two of the nameplates on the chair had scratches on them. We informed the manager and they were painlessly and promptly replaced. We've been using the furniture for a few weeks now and have been very happy. Our back ordered cushions arrived within the eta given today. I didn't receive a call or voicemail informing me the shipment would arrive. It wasn't a problem since we were home at the time but it was a bit of a surprise and I thought it wasn't as professional as I'd like. Shopped for Patio furniture at their Los Gatos store, then two of their competitors and ended up buying a complete set of teak from their Mt View store. We are having them seal it with the honey tint and can't wait for delivery tomorrow! Ralph and Dave were both very helpful at the Mt View store, and so was the team at Los Gatos. Since they aren't on commission they work to get you what you need without pressure, rather than trying to upsell you. The table design is far superior to the competitors, note how easy it is to add or remove a leaf. We went with the folder chairs, 4 arm and 4 without and we'll keep the extra two in the house when the table is not extended. We got some matching lounge chairs as well, so I can relax while hubby makes all the food! read more

Excellent service, great furniture. We're really happy with the Sausalito flat-weave collection- elegant, comfy and durable. Transformed our back yard into a resort-like setting. We took advantage of Terra's sale prices and paid a lot less than if we'd ordered the equivalent through one of the big chains, which is amazing given that we also had excellent service and prompt, smooth delivery. Ralph answered all of my questions, listened to what we needed in terms of form and function, and helped me select just the right pieces and material. Even the delivery team was top-notch.
