Chocolate lovers place to go!! I didn't know what to try but just wanted something light. We got the Romkugler, it's a ball of chocolate brownie. Not sweet like usual brownies. Covered with sprinkles or coconut. Then tried these little tarts called Mazarin. Each filled with fruits in the middle. I tried the orange and raspberry. Pretty happy to visit this Danish Pastries House at Eaton Center. Items at this location are simply superb. Many varieties to choose from. They use only the best ingredients in their handcrafted gourmet pastries. croissant, cinnamon bun, cookies, sourdough bread, Mazarins, and so on, you name it. Need to call out their Kokostop, which is a coconut macaroon with custard and Belgian chocolate. Beautifully done and it is sooooooo good. So passionate about baking. It's gluten-free, btw. Great concept and variety of pastries, a perfect spot to just take a coffee break during shopping. But I am disappointed in their customer service. There were two ladies working when I stopped there, neither was very friendly... they never asked if my order was to go or dine in, but without asking they put my cake in a paper bag, running the berry topping. I told them I was eating that there, and she just handed me a fork, but not a plate....Never seen a place where a cake is served with no plate. I had to ask nicely for one. I was disappointed. Not sure what's with the negative reviews? I've stopped into the Danish Pastry House a few times now and have always enjoyed their treats. Plus their coffee is very good - my go to is the Americano. Most recently I stopped in to grab a dozen of their sweet croissants to bring to my in laws for a morning treat during my brother in law's wedding weekend. I chose a mixture of the flavours: plain, chocolate/custard, almond, and raspberry. Was nice to enjoy in the morning after the wedding festivities. The croissants were crispy and flaky on the outside then tender and sweet on the inside - so good! Definitely stop in to try one of their goodies and treat yo' self!! read more

Finally got the chance to pop into Danish Pastry House after I walked by and was pulled in my the display of baked goods at their store front. I ordered the kanelbrød which is basically a cinnamon loaf of deliciousness! Its size for $5.25 is (to me) a good deal for a slightly more bready cinnamon roll. I also got the kanel snegl with vanilla icing. Although both pastries had remonce (which I learned is made of creamed butter, flavored paste and sugar), I felt the kanel snegl had a more burnt brown sugar taste but it wasn't too overpowering. The kanel snegl has a much more light and flaky exterior while the middle is more dense and buttery similar to a croissant. Service was quick and super friendly. You order with someone on the line and they bring it to the cashier where they ring up your order. They also have reinforced physical distancing measures. A cute place for a quick snack or grab for something sweet if not uplifting and energizing. Quick and polite service. Cinnamon rolls seem to be one of the most popular items, but I was thirsty so I got their elderflower soda, since I don't drink coffee nor most teas from non tea shops. The soda had a delicate taste and I love the fact that it is organic. I also like the fact that they have almond milk as a possible substitution or extra add-on. The blueberry crumble was the right sweetness and had plenty of blueberries just the way I like it. Have not been inside a bakery, cafe or coffee shop in a long time. Considering that this location is in Eatons Centre, the heart of downtown, the prices were quite reasonable. They also waive off tax if you buy 6 or more baked goods!! We were at Eaton center. My friend strongly suggest I should try this place. We share three pastries. I like them for this place is pretty unique in Toronto but I come from Montreal. We have more pastry shops in Montreal, probably with more choices. They didn't offer the service to cut the big bread for customers. There was a long line but it moved very fast. I give one star to this place for several reasons. The tables and floor were super dirty. I asked for my cinnamon bun to be near and it is heated in a microwave. I stayed to eat there but they don't have plates and normal clutter. My plate was the bad and my fork was plastic. The ham and cheese bun/bread didn't have ham so I returned it. It claims to be a pastry with custard, marzipan and chocolate. Our pastry had NO custard or marzipan. The pastry itself was flaky. But it's hard to judge the experience as we were advertised something we didn't get. Unfortunately we took it to go so we didn't get to see what type of reparation we'd get. After recently learning about the Danish concept of hygge, I really wanted to try Danish pastries in the winter. I'm so glad this place exists and that they have so many amazing pastry options! I opted for their two most popular choices today: the Viking and the custard snegl (snail). The Viking is like a puff pastry / croissant with chocolate on one side and custard in the middle. It's a shaped like a large triangle and very flaky. The custard snegl also has chocolate and custard, but in a circular shape. TBH, the two chocolate custard pastries tasted similar, but I can't complain because they were both great. Since I probably can't eat more than 2 in one sitting without falling into a deep food coma, I'll have to come here every time I stop by the Eaton centre, until I've tried all their pastries. I don't even care that I'm lactose intolerant. I need to try all of them. I also assumed this was an international chain, but was pleasantly surprised to find out that it's a local business. It is a small-ish place (though admittedly I have not been to other Danish Pastry House locations yet). From where, you enter, there is sitting to your right and all the food to your left. Haven't been to Eaton centre for quite sometime. i noticed the Danish pastry House when I was on my way to the Eatery and determined I must stop here to satisfy my sweet tooth after a late lunch 2 weekends ago. Love all the options they offer at Danish pastry house. There is a good selection and there are cakes too. You pay more of a premium here for pastries and cakes. However worth a try. It was a shocker to me that it ring up almost $8 for two items. But oh well. I bought the Viking slice and some other cinnamon pastry. Both really flaky and crispy. The staff at the cafe will bag my pastries and hand it to me. Than I Had to queue for payment. It's not very speedy if you are in a rush I must say. Because the staff at cash would need to open your baggie to see what's in it and punch in your item in to the machine. This place can get busy!!! There is limited seating here, you can't really chill here and enjoy it. It's more like a quick stop and go. I would return again just to try something else. read more

I was walking by and was enticed by all the yummy looking pastries in the window! Upon entering you see a small seating area to the right and a wide selection of pastries to the left. The place was clean and had a bright and open feeling to it. All the staff were very polite and friendly I opted for the Aeblesnitte and Chokolade Roulade. The aeblesnitte is a puff pastry made with short crust dough, almond paste, custard, apple, and almonds. It's fresh and moist. The apples and custard went well together. The chokolade roulade is chocolate cake with buttercream. It was also fresh and tasted similar to a chocolate Swiss roll. They have a nice variety of items and everything was fresh but overall the taste was just okay. I would go back to give other items a try though. read more

Most of the pastries are excellent, reminiscent of real European pastries. The gluten free Gâteau Marcel is divine! However, the croissants often taste greasy and their service is a real hit or miss, sometimes awful. I try to only take out from this location because the place is often filthy! Unless they have just opened in the morning, I don't recommend sitting down to (always) a dirty table or seats covered with crumbs or a sticky mess. On one occasion a sticky liquid was found on edges of table and under it and no one bothered to clean it up. Overall I prefer the Union Station location which doesn't have seating, but your shoes or any other part of your clothing won't be sticking to anything. read more

The lineups are chaotic and you can barely see what the available food options are because of how many people just loiter around. Additionally, I've seen the staff handle the food without gloves which is concerned especially during the flu season. Finally had a chance to try this place. It's been open for a year or so. I have to say the pastries on display don't exactly scream come in to see me. It looks burnt and dry. But I did walk in on a Saturday afternoon on a rainy day and up close the pastries in the front window look quite delicious. We bought a box of 6, elefanfod, rum ball chocolate and coconut, chocolate croissant, meringue, coconut macaron and I'm forgetting. The pastries are surprising delicious. You have to Iike butter and carbs if you come in. There's a nice little sit down area and coffee and tea if you want to eat in. The bakery box is a bit strange the top is an open cover so they need to put a wax paper sheet. Also have to pay for a plastic bag which you need to transport the box properly but the plastic bag in no way fits the shape of the box so you're holding the box by hand with the bag not the bag and it's uncomfortable. Overall great comfort pastry shop if you need some sugar. Another reason we can't judge a book by its cover. read more

I got the chocolate roll and holy chalupas it was one of the best pastries I've ever had. The cream cheese or icing was so buttery and the pastry so delicious. I'm mad for not coming inside sooner. Lines can get outrageously long if you come at peak times, i.e. after work, but sooo worth the wait. Grab a table, stay awhile, or grab and go something for your coffee break... You must try the kokostoppe (gluten free!), which is my personal favourite with a dipped dark chocolate base and dense, chewy caramelized coconut body! Similar in shape is the Flødebolle, but the similarities stop at the exterior. I wasn't a huge fan of the overly sweet meringue interior, but the texture was so much fun - like biting into a whimsical cloud. Prices here are very reasonable, most pastries are around $3-5. Service was superior - despite all my annoying, novice questions and name-butchering, the staff behind the counter was so kind, patiently explaining each item to me. 5/5 will be back. read more

When I asked the manager for the reason (older lady with glasses) she was rather annoyed at my question and said she will swap it for another one.
