My leg from the knee down to my foot is still swollen and I am in pain and cannot walk far. My follow up appointment was scheduled for 1/13 but I called the office because 2 weeks before because I was in a lot of pain and the swelling was getting worse. I saw another surgeon and he tried to drain it but wasn't successful and told me to wait to see Dr Borick. Dr Borick said the surgery didn't work because I had bad arthritis in my knee that he knew was already there and that I need a knee replacement! After seeing my primary doctor and explaining the situation and her seeing the condition of my knee she said she wanted me to see someone else. I've been seeing Dr Rodriguez at Texas Orthopedics and the care there is far better! Dr Brick's bed side manner is non existent and he has a condescending way of talking to you. I told him that I am worse off before the surgery and I can't work and didn't even care. He explained the surgery may not work but didn't say I could possibly end up in worse condition. I sent an email to the administrators at OACT explaining my issues with Dr Borick and haven't heard from them. Do yourself a favor and stay away from OACT. Texas Orthopedics is a much better group of doctors.

**Do NOT trust this orthopedic surgeon -- even if your arm depends on it.**…read more After a bad fall, I was referred here by the ER. What followed was a mess of contradictory diagnoses and complete misinformation that could've cost me the full use of my arm. **First visit (day after injury):I was told not to wear a sling, "go live your life." **Second visit (after MRI):Suddenly, it was keep your arm in a sling for 2 weeks, do PT, and it "should heal on its own because you're young and healthy." **Third visit (2.5 weeks later): Now it was an emergency -- I "needed surgery immediately" or I'd "never regain range of motion." The inconsistencies were not just confusing -- they were dangerous. He also assured me I'd be typing 2 weeks post-op and using my arm by week 4. Total fiction. He never reviewed my actual MRI images with me and instead based his diagnosis solely on the radiology report. A second doctor later reviewed the images directly and found the report to be misleading. Had this surgeon taken the time to look at the images himself, surgery may have been recommended much earlier, potentially improving my outcome. Thankfully, I got a second opinion from a highly respected orthopedic surgeon with extensive experience treating professional athletes, including those in the NHL who was shocked at what I was told. He confirmed I had a complete biceps tendon tear, a subscapularis tear, and fracture -- none of which would have healed without surgery and 6 months of structured physical therapy. Post-op with the correct doctor, I wasn't allowed to move my arm for 2 weeks, stayed in a sling for 6 weeks and only began very limited motion by week 7. This is the real protocol for a severe shoulder injury -- not the fantasy timeline I was given. Bottom line: This office gave me three completely different treatment plans in under three weeks, misled me about my condition, and grossly misrepresented recovery. I would not trust this surgeon with anything, let alone a serious injury. Get a second opinion -- your mobility and long-term health depend on it.

I was asked every day by doctors and nurses if I had any pain. They said this was very unusual compared to other patients with the same procedure. I just went for x-ray after 3 1/2 months and Dr Szerlip confirmed that everything looked great. So because of his skills I believe that was the reason I had no pain. I would highly reccomend Dr Szerlip.

My paperwork was sent to what is now Origin Physical Therapy. After I left a voicemail, someone called me back and said I could only book appointments online--they no longer offer phone appointments. I booked online, filled out all my information, and provided my Health Card credit card number, assuming it was just for a backup payment. Later, I was surprised to receive an email receipt for a $39 platform charge. I immediately called and spoke to a representative, who explained it was a fee for booking online, but that I could opt out of future online bookings. I wasn't informed of this choice, and I wasn't aware I would be charged for making an appointment. She said I should have received an email to fill out a form, and that form mentions the charge for making an online appointment. I was billed for this fee before I had a chance to learn about it in the next step I haven't taken yet. Although the fee was refunded, I didn't receive an apology or acknowledgment of the confusion. When I called again to express my discomfort with their platform fee, I felt the staff was unresponsive. I was told I could make future appointments in person, but would lose access to online features such as booking and homework exercises. I canceled my appointment, and I'm glad I did based on other reviews. It's like going to a restaurant and having to pay a place-setting fee. If you are running a business, the software/platform you use should be a cost of running a business.

Office personnel need work, disinterested & not friendly. The dr. is overrated per my personal…read moreexperience. It took about 6 weeks to get in. While explaining to the dr. why I was there, he kept using the hand gesture that we understand to mean hurry up & finish talking. Dismissive & rude. I'd fallen off a low step stool & twisted my knee. Couldn't walk on that leg for 2 weeks. Constant weakness & pain for months. My podiatrist recommended this dr. so I had hoped to get a thoughtful diagnosis & treatment or plan. I was told I have arthritis, "maybe" some torn ligaments, & need a new knee, that I need to lose a lot of weight before I can safely have surgery, & after asking TWICE for a shot to alleviate the pain, I did get one but a week & a half later I called the office for a second shot where the pain actually radiated from (other side of knee), I was told NO, to wait for 4 weeks for the shot to work (WHAT???), & to have a shot every 3 months until I get the knee surgery. I told the office woman that the doctor could've told me this when I was in there...no reply. This dr uncommunicative, disinterested, in a 'hurry.' My knee hurts 9-10 on pain scale still & I will definitely be looking for a dr who not only treats (sort of) medical issues but also sees patients as sentient beings who deserve respect & feel real pain. Maybe 2 stars are too many./Update: I went to another orthopedic surgeon for a second & much more thorough opinion I trust. Turns out I have arthritis AND bursitis in both knees, will have physical therapy for a while, only need to lose less than half of what this dr said to have knee surgery, still needed, still in pain. The bursitis is hereditary & the cause of pain. A good doctor really is important. Oh, & the new doc listened to me first because he learned things needed to know, gave me a thorough exam.
