Go to this gas station and order the catfish poboy. Call me and thank me later. Get a half if you're one person...have them cut it in half. It was soooo much food! The fish was crispy and seasoned well. The wheat bread was delicious for the sandwich for those trying to get away from the French bread. Go forth and save a couple carbs and calories. If you know me you already know... I am slightly bourgie and will not eat gas station food outside of Metairie, Harvey, New Orleans areas. Yes I have my limits!!!! I have been eating at Danny and Clyde's since I was in my teens and almost 20 years later I am still a loyal customer. The food is always fresh and full of flavor. They have begun to get skimpy on the shrimp but nevetheless is still very good and filling. I traditionally order a large shrimp po-boy dressed without mayo for $9.59. The staff is pleasant and wears gloves when handling food. My food is always hot, fresh, and accurate. It is my comfort food that goes great with a daiquiri or cold drink. read more

My son had been asking for a King Cake since the beginning of the year. I kept saying ok but never followed through. Then the weekend before Mardi Gras he reminded me and I thought about the fact that time was running out. This was Sunday afternoon and Manny Randazzo's was closed so we said we would go to Danny and Clydes because they have a sign saying they sell Randazzo's King Cakes. We went but there was a sign on the door saying the were out but more would be delivered Monday. Well come Monday and we got up at 6:00 am left at 6:30 to head over to Randazzo's since they opened at 7am. It was very cold. In the 30s. The line at Randazzo's was already down the street. I told my son to look up the number to Danny and Clydes and call to see what time the King Cakes would be delivered. He did and the lady said they were already there. We took the five minute drive right over and walked right in and walked right out. No line and they had plenty. The King Cake was made at a location in Slidell. It was round, not oval like the ones at the Randazzo's location in Metairie. The sprinkles and icing were identical and it taste just as good. It was authentic and that is where we will be getting ours from now on. As for other things at this location. I've gotten gas here in the past. I've noticed that the are remodeling the outside area where the gas pumps are. They have hot food at this location but I haven't had anything so I can't comment on that. Got the fried catfish and surf n' turf (1/2 shrimp, 1/2 roast beef) po'boys with a side of fries. Everything came out to approximately $17. Fried catfish: Packed with fried catfish that were nice and crispy. Tasted good with the fresh veggies. Surf n' turf: Surprisingly really good! Didn't think the fried shrimp would go with the roast beef. The roast beef was soft and juicy. It was messy but yummy! Fries: nothing special. Wish it was more seasoned. Although it was in a gas station, I wish it had at least of couple of tables for people who wanted to eat their food right away. We ended up eating our food on our car. Lol read more

I've ordered from here before, it was FOOLISH to me to think that the cooks or food would improve...Any good reviews this store was given, must be from out-of- towners who don't know the value of Real New Orleans Cooking, that stands to reason since danny/clydes is located Metairie not New Orleans..or is just plain hungry..The food I recieved last night, a deathrow inmate would turn his nose up and GO HUNGRY, rather than chow down on that. RiP...The Oysters was drenched in Deep Dark Oil "Old Texas Tea"....the FRIES were STIFFer than the dancers on Dancing with the Stars. Don't bother ordering from D&C on Waitr. The rocket scientists who work there apparently turned the machine that sends the Waitr orders off. When my wife went to pick our food up they told her they didn't get the order---or the payment which was submitted and approved on my credit card. They wanted her to place the order in person and pay for it again. They were very rude. She left without the food and we've filed a complaint with Waitr to get our money back. People not from New Orleans look at me funny when I say you can get a good poboy at a gas station. Danny & Clyde's is that station. They have touch-screen kiosks where you place your order and get to completely customize things. I like to get a fried oyster poboy with lettuce, pickles, and cocktail sauce. Portions aren't as big as they used to be, but they are tasty. And here's the best part: open all night. That's right, all night, for all your sandwich needs. I've been eating Danny and Clyde's poboys my whole life. In fact, I don't think I tried one anywhere else until after I was an adult and moved away. It probably sounds weird that you'd get good poboys at a gas station, but I get one every time I'm home and they never disappoint. Maybe not as overstuffed as they used to be, but still really good, cheap, and fast. My personal fave is the shrimp with lettuce, mayo and hot sauce, but you can build yours however you want it - fully dressed or pick and choose your ingredients. The roast beef is good too. I have to admit, their oyster poboy isn't quite as good as Dimartini's. They have a touch screen ordering system so you can build your sandwich and see all the ingredients available, which is helpful and really streamlines things when they're slammed with customers. My Dad swears this is THE BEST Danny and Clyde's location, and all the others are not as good. I don't know if he's right, but we always come to this one. read more

Automated kiosks for ordering... you know, I actually like this concept. My boyfriend has gone to Danny & Clyde's (various locations) since he was a kid. This was my first time. He got shrimp, I got hot roast beef n gravy. We had 1 order ahead of us, but it seemed to take an exceptionally long time to get our Po Boys... oh well, he said it would be worth the wait. He claims his was excellent, mine alone would have warrantied 3 stars. It wasn't even "hot" enough to melt the cheddar cheese. Otherwise, fresh bread, fresh toppings, and good flavor. I've had better, but this is a good easy to access location and is close to my work. Hopefully next time the service is a little faster - or maybe I'll try to call and order ahead of time, if they allow this. read more

Awesome cheap and quick poboys. They have a "do it yourself" order screen where you choose everything down to your toppings and condiments - GREAT way to do things. Other quick food places easily get orders wrong, misunderstand you, or just plain make it wrong. When you go to Danny & Clyde's, they get your order RIGHT! It's more than a convenience store, it's a in the league of hole in the wall sandwhich shops that make you drool. I would compare it to Adams' Street Grocery uptown or A&M mart on Lee in Baton Rouge. I still crave AM Mart from my college days, and when I do I go to Danny & Clyde's. Occasionally I will even get one if their breakfast sandwiches. Early in the morning they have them prepped and sitting under a heat lamp wrapped in aluminum foil. They are great and super convenient. Soooo disappointed, wanted a fish poboy, they had No fish. Settled for Hot Sausage and it was disappointing. My husband's oysters poboy was way overcooked and he maybe 6 oysters total. My daughters's shrimp poboy tasted like old rubbery shrimp with no flavor, definitely will not go back, total waste of my time and money. Pretty good Po Boys. I drove directly from the airport to Danny & Clydes to pick up two sandwiches. However, I was shocked that they had a couple of automated kiosks for ordering. Extremely rude manager who I can't remember his name for the life of me now! Store was not cleaned, items weren't stocked, food was decent at times, just depends on what you ordered. If you go to this location within an hour and a half of closing they either don't make any food or they mess up your order. The last 3 times I have been to this location the kitchen staff was unfriendly and my food was made wrong I feel out of spite. Tonight I went at 10 they close at 11 and they already closed the kitchen. I try and go to the other location on clearview but this one is closer. They need new employees who actually want to work. I am elated with Danny & Clyde's, a co-worker told me about this gas station that sold food. So when I got off after 1 a.m I took a chance and gave them a "Go". I ordered the seafood platter. Everything was pipping hot, my oyster sang a plethora of song's as they danced on my Palate. Juicy tender oyster's that you dare not dip in tarter sauce or any other sauce, the shrimp's, oh the shrimp's tap danced on my tongue right before it dive in my stomach to join their distant cousin .. and when I arrived at the fish, I was too full to continue creating "music in my mouth". Went to the one on clearview that is the white building gas station. Paid $17.23 for a catfish and oyster platter. Got 2 pieces of crumbled up catfish and 5 oysters with a butt load of uncooked fries. Clear to say I paid for the workers lunch since I only got half my food. I have not been here in a long time since I live outside of New Orleans in Cali but their po'boys are unforgettable. I dined at many restaurants while visiting the city and the oyster po'boy at this gas station (of all places) was a highlight of my trip. The bread alone was better than some full meals that I've had. A local told me to always get my po'boys from here and that local has been on my Christmas list every since. Danny & Clyde is a nasty faulty store. Most times there's no dish washing liquid to wash the dishwashers, no dish towels to clean with, no clean apron, bathroom stays nasty n faulty, no. Soap in the bathroom to clean hands. The food is pasteurized, cheese , meat. The rice is not real rice that they serve with red beans, baskets never got clean, they clean the grill with a serious chemical substance which halfway cleans it, which leave chemical on the grill, which eats at your organs and tissues. They cut tomatoes with out rinsing them, they have workers that cut themselves and bless out excessively, instead of tending to the whoom they allow her to prepare customers food while bleeding. Once it was a water spit in to the gas from a pipe leak. They sold people contaminated gas. Customers came back complaining, Danny Clyde refuse to acknowledge fault on the majority of complaints.
