Once again late night eats at Hank's. You can't go wrong this time. I indulge myself with the shrimp on bun dressed and it was delicious and under $10. And came out piping hot. Well it took me 10 minutes to take my first bite because of temperature. Hanks itself is a divy grocery storeish food Spot. Grateful late night after midnight. The kitchen is very nice and then work with you and help you out if you have any questions. The front desk they're cool too Just depends on when you catch them. Just remember if you go here you better off paying with cash because they passed off the credit card cost our debit card cost to you.

Wow! I really thought I liked the shrimp Poboy, until I tried the Philly beef. Without a doubt, my new favorite. Blows Verde Mart out of the water. You gotta check it out.

Took me far too long to try Hank's. My roommate kept telling me they make the best fried fish in town. Well, I love me some Brothers and some Joey K's so I'm not gonna go that far, but it was damn good! It was also affordable. I ordered 3 pieces of fish and got a bottled water with it, and it was only 6 something. They also gave me an extra piece which was pretty rad of them. Comes with plenty of tartar sauce. The fish was perfectly crisp and well seasoned. Ate every morsel. They had to make it fresh for me because someone in front of me bought out all the fish. Didn't take too long. The store is pretty good. They sell all the regular chips and snacks, and even some of my favorite brand of prepared curries. Would be a convenient place to live nearby.

I am not sure why they thought this was acceptable to give to anyone. The bread was old , food had no flavor. 40$ wasted Just terrible

Philly steak and cheese. These are two halves, one with a little meat and one with no meat.

We ordered from Hank's after trying to order from Felix's and Sala, which were both closed. We had a hankering for fried seafood. I ordered a shrimp plate, chicken strip plate, fish plate and a philly steak and cheese sandwich. I think the fried food was on point. It looked and smelled good. I had a piece of my wife's fish. It was a bit chewy, but I'm not sure if that was because of the travel from the shop to our home. The sandwich had a good flavor with the right amount of mayo. The hoagie was soft and fluffy, although I would've preferred french bread. The biggest sin was the lack of meat. I mean, it's a philly steak. Where's the beef Hank? Look at the pic. Half of my sandwich had no meat, just lettuce and mayo. Now, I ate every bit of it, but it was a disappointment nonetheless.

Hank's pulled through for late night delivery when another place cancelled our order an hour passed the time that it was placed! I got the fried shrimp po boy and there were big, juicy, seasoned shrimp in every bite. The lettuce, tomato and mayo only created a fresh and creamy bed for the shrimps but did not take away from the main feature of the sandwich. The bread itself was also substantial and did it's job to tuck in the fried shrimp goodness. Definitely consider Hank's for your late night order.

No small market seems to define its neighborhood more than Hank's Supermarket in the Bywater. While you might not find it listed in any tourism brochures, Hank's is a place of legend; from the locals who darken the door, to the fried chicken and daily food specials. It's served as a place of comfort for many New Orleanians for about 50 years. Walking into Hank's, you can immediately tell it's a bit different from other corner stores. Not only is there a 24/7/365 hidden treasure of an extensive craft beer and wine selection, but you can get a hot meal whenever you want it. New Orleans is known as a food town and the corner stores are no different. Everyone seems to have that one thing they are known for- for Hank's, it's fried chicken. My original intention was to enjoy this delicacy at home, but the smell of the 4-piece dark meat was so enticing, that I had to throw caution to the wind and sneak a few test bites in the car. The flaky crust and tender meat made for a delicious surprise, and for about $3.50 for four pieces, this might be one of the best fried chicken deals in town. Even if it's your first time visiting Hank's, there's something about the place that feels familiar and welcoming, kind of like New Orleans itself. More than a market, it's a home away from home that has a little bit of everything you need -- whether you realize it or not. *Portions of this review was originally written, by me, for Very Local New Orleans. Hamburger with the fixings

We were quite tipsy coming from some local restaurant bar and it was passed midnight. Nothing else seem to be open but a friend suggested that I try Hanks supermarket because they have hot food. So after Hanks we go and I look at the menu and find out that they have chicken and french fries and hamburgers and I was super excited. I ordered a burger with french fries and my friend ordered chicken and some other stuff. The lady who only spoke predominately Spanish hook me the hell up. The burger was like the size of a gourmet Barneys burger that you pay something like 15 or $20 for I got for like eight bucks maybe 10 at most inc. fries!!! It was very tasty and I got all the fixings. The owner, a Portugués guy... not so friendly rung up and we got out of there. If I'm ever in Nola again I'll be back!

You gotta come to fresh market on Thursdays for the $5 bistro meals!!! (Beware they do sell out of…read moresome items.) They also have a hot plate meal where you can get a rotisserie chicken, two sides, and 6 rolls - feed 4-6 people. (Perfect amount for 3 people sized family in my opinion.). Depends on the portion sizes your family eats. Either way, great last minute meal ideas after a long day of work. Or for your lunch break! The workers are all really polite here, but the checkout line is not fast so make sure to get a basket or cart to make waiting in line easier. It is always clean in here, and they always have lots of fresh produce. Plus a convenient parking lot.

The staff, especially at checkout, always seem to be friendly and upbeat, which is nice. The pre-prepared foods, snacks, drink choices, bakery and deli are typically better than most, sometimes better than the larger Whole Foods on Magazine St. here. And, they have an amazing floral section at the back entrance. There's a convenient parking lot that wraps around the back and downtown side of the building, but the spaces can be tight, especially with a SUV size vehicle. This time I grabbed some coffee, bread, brownies, and wine. Unfortunately, I found many of the aisles and sections not stocked very well. The bakery section had very little product as did several other places. Just empty bins and shelves. Hmmmm? It is the beginning of Mardi Gras season so plenty of King Cake and specialty vodka. Nonetheless, I do like this store. Fun fact- this used to be the Bultman Funeral Home, in a classic building on the corner of St. Charles and Louisiana Streets. Yes, indeed, a mortuary as well.

During the first week of January, my lifelong friend visited Plush Appeal to purchase Mardi Gras decor for her out of state home. We are natives of New Orleans and were raised with the proper etiquette and respect for ourselves, others and community. We are proud graduates of an affluent Catholic high school and our class of women has made quite a positive impact in this world collectively. With that said, as my friend was shopping she interacted with one of the sales associates and had a lovely conversation. This particular sales associate then left the area. Within minutes two other sales associates approached my friend, accused her of stealing, and when my friend attempted to clear her name and prove her innocence, these women refused. They stated she was on camera and despite my friend asking multiple times for proof and to view the cameras, she was again refused her request. Apparently, two large men were then instructed to escort her out to which she stated she felt extremely uncomfortable. Several of her friends have reached out to the store. Ms. Vee was so nice! CeeCee though ... the manager... when I called to ask for clarification she became nasty and hung up. Long story short, nothing was stolen. If that were the case why not call the police or show the video? Most importantly to note are the differences in skin tones. My friend is an upper class African American female who was seemingly targeted for the color of her skin. Take your business elsewhere!
