I figured it would add a nice touch to our daughter's 6th birthday party and it was also a surprise for her. My daughter doesn't like cake, believe it or not, but she tried and really enjoyed this cake! I found Melanie here and immediately contacted her. I let her know the party was literally a week away. With all transparency, she let me know she was pretty busy, but would try to squeeze us in. I emailed her two photos of my vision for the Aladdin themed cake and Melanie ended up creating a gorgeous cake! Melanie was in constant communication about the details of the cake, which I appreciated. She also called me the day before the party and suggested we bring a serrated knife in order to cut optimal cake slices. She delivered the cake on time to Aerosports Trampoline Park in Murrieta. She left me written cutting directions, but as a courtesy, before she left she also explained how we should cut the cake for our guests. Initially, I was looking for a one layered cake to feed 25-30 people. In order for the cake to have a WOW factor Melanie suggested two layers (same cost, as cost is mostly determined by slice per person). Both layers of the cake were chocolate. The cake pictured was $320. Everyone raved about the design and taste, so it was well worth it. More importantly, my daughter was pleasantly surprised. Overall, Melanie is AMAZING! Melanie was professional from start to finish and her response time was almost immediate regardless of the time of day or night. She took into account my ideas, mixed that with her expertise, sprinkled lots of patience and delivered pure magic! I highly recommend Melanie for your unique baking needs.

The 5 star rating is for the employee (owner, probably) who greeted me immediately and began to explain everything when I told him I'd never been to the bakery before. He was so friendly and proud of his product I grabbed a few more than I would have normally. He said they start baking at 2:30 in the morning and sell until they are sold out that day. I came in around 11am and they still had plenty to choose from, so not sure what it looks like earlier in the morning, but it was also a Thursday. As soon as I was paying another family came in and he greeted them just as warmly. A great experience all around.

Slow Rise is a small, home-based business which is licensed to sell his beautiful but limited choices of bread and cookies/treats. We discovered the tall, young owner poised under his own pop-up at the tiny Sunday Farmers Market in the small community of Canyon Lakes (not too far east from Lake Elsinore). While he did not offer samples, his main attraction was his huge, gorgeous loaves of sourdough bread. Besides plain, there were flavored loaves. The one we chose was called peach sourdough and had cinnamon-spiced peaches baked into the dough. Once home, a nice thick slice of that went into our toaster, then buttered, for a complete decadent experience. It was a moist, beautifully textured, tender sourdough that made me giddy. If I closed my eyes, I thought it was more like a cinnamon roll or coffeecake, but not as sweet. Elegant. He also offered a Rosemary sourdough that I had to resist this time around. He had other savory flavors but I cannot recall at this moment, having been too severely seduced by the peach version. I told her I'd like to order one of the cakes below. She asked, "What flavor would you like?" while peeking around the glass at me, and I said, "Well, let me see... oh, you have peach cobbler, that sounds interesting." Around this moment within seconds, another lady walks up behind me while I was choosing my other flavors and tells the cashier she wants to order two peach cobblers. Instead of telling her to wait, the cashier just starts to service her! Meanwhile, I'm left standing there as they continue to talk at the register. At first, I was going to wait, but then I realized I just got cut in line because neither of them wanted to wait five seconds for me to choose my flavors. How rude. There was also already another client in there ahead of me, probably waiting for her pre-order cake.
