Of all the beachside pizza places, this one really stands out as the best. Everything is fantastic. It reminds me of authentic NYC pizza, not the junk you find in most parts of Florida. Hurricane Milton was on the way and they were open. A small seating area greets you or you can choose the bar. Order take out and had a slight miscommunication on our order. Thought it was two two topping for the price we asked if that was the special. Girl on the phone said yes. Turns out NOPE. So 55 bucks later for two large two toppings and garlic knots. Not going to beat her up for it but that was a bit pricy. And to be honest sauce was a little bland for my taste. Family loved it though. read more

Mustering the energy to venture forth with the economy and political atmosphere of an election year permeating the atmosphere is something I am finding harder and harder to do. If that wasn't enough, I now had to go to yet another Italian-American eatery as Dano's Pizza By the Shore was presented to me on my random name generator. At least I was staying beachside. Proclaiming they were born on the Jersey Shore and not the Indian River Shore, they had NY stuff all over the place. Thankfully, The Situation and/or Snooki were not to be found. What I really liked was the paint scheme. Every Italian place has standard plastic checkered tablecloths, but not this place. Dano's has them painted with the colors of the Italian flag. Very cool! Ashley is our server today and she also stated that she was married to the owner. Doesn't that make her the owner as well? I did, albeit skeptically, put in an order for their "world-famous" meatball sub. I am always leary when I see fluffery such as this or best in USA/State/County claims. I always picture an elderly couple in Perth planning a vacation and going, "Hey! Let's make it a point to stop in FL so we can have one of Dano's meatball subs the neighbors have been going on about." Along with the sub, I also asked Ashley for one small white pizza. Kickin' back and enjoyin' the vibe of the place, I soon noticed Ashley heading over with our food. Snapping the required pics, I began to chow down. The first to hit Big Boy's palate was the meatball sub. Excuse me, the "world famous" meatball sub. While I seriously doubt our Australian couple is talking about it, I did find it exceptional. The bread was warm, fresh and flaky, while the meatballs were delectable in their bed of marinara sauce. Finding the sub to be surprisingly delightful, I took a bite out of the white pizza. Traditionally, a white pizza has a garlic and olive oil "sauce" topped with various cheese and perhaps some spinach. Dano's was topped with ricotta, romano, mozzarella, provolone and parmesan cheese. The dough was superb, and I could tell it was made on-site, not from frozen. It's very easy to tell the difference in flavor and consistency, plus I could see the dough mixer in the kitchen. It all starts with the base and this base was crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside and tasty all over. The cheeses were obviously the real dairy deal. So sad to have to decide to never come back. We used to enjoy eating "in" at Dano's. Food came out nice & hot and delicious. We did take out in Dec and it was awful. Were told it would be 40 minutes and when we picked up our multiple items, the pizzas were cold and the garlic knots had bled the oil thru the box - they were so oily we couldn't eat them. Went back, because we did really enjoy eating there, but this will be out last time to ever eat there. The tables were filthy and when one of them got wiped down, the food scrapes got wiped onto the chairs. The whole place now looks dirty. Placed our order and the wrong toppings were on our pizza. It was soggy and not hot. One of the reasons we like to eat at restaurants is so that our food is hot when we get it. Maybe it was because there was not a single adult over 22 working there? Or do they just not care anymore. Anyway, too many places to get pizza, so we won't be wasting our time or "eating out" dollars at Dano's again. read more

Everything that I've gotten from here has been delicious. They have an amazing Stromboli, and pizza. The staff is always extremely nice when you walk in, and the pick ups are normally always on time with you at most having to wait a couple of minutes. Visited this pizza shop while in town and was overall pleased with my experience. Nice small shop, ordered in person and waited for my order. Was excited to see that they had eggplant as a topping as it's my favorite and not easy to find. Although they did have tiered pricing for toppings which I hate. I found the pizza to be pretty good, not awesome. I usually don't order extra cheese the first time to evaluate the need but this one needed it for me. Also the eggplant was good, it could have been cooked longer providing a better milliard reaction and resulting flavor 7.1. The pepperoni calzone was truly excellent. Loved the sprinkling of fresh garlic and parm on the top. Side marinara was ok, would have preferred a touch less tomato chunks here, better for dipping. I would return here. read more

I have stopped by because they advertise one thing. They make the best meatball parm in the world. Being a NYer, I'm schepical. I'm gonna tell you that they made the best meatball parm I have ever tasted. I am a believer. The bread was tasty and crisp. The sauce was flavorful and thick not runny. The meatballs were expertly seasoned and cooked. The cheese was plentiful, melt deliciousness and topped with more Italian herbs for good measure. All come together and it's a Triumph!! Fantastic pizzeria! You have to try their Stromboli it's made with cheese, pepperoni, sausage, and mushrooms if I'm not mistaken. It's a great size here pictured is a large. I've picked up from Danos three times and it's been a mixed bag. Sometimes it's an incredible NY Style pizza, other times it seems skimpy on the sauce. Wasn't impressed with the pineapple and the pizza is pricey for the area. They have $3/order coupons floating around that helps some, but it's only $3 off an order, so ordering multiple pies is more costly. Interesting pickup experience too, sometimes they're cheery and other times the front counter is screaming at the kitchen. read more

Staying with my parents at a condo for a night or two. They said they wanted to order pizza and I offered to pay so I was responsible finding it. We're staying a little closer to a few other pizza places but I checked the reviews and saw 5 star for over 30 reviews and after calling to see if they had any specials I settled on Dano's. The 4 of us cannot say enough about how good it was. We ordered (way more than necessary) 2 large pies, a Hawaiian and a white with tomato, garlic knots and a Greek salad. All of it was amazing. The pizza was fantastic, the crust soft and chewy with a crunchy exterior and the amount of feta on the white was awesome. The garlic knots are finally done right, they had soo much garlic and as someone who can't ever have enough, they were perfect. So many places just add a small amount of oil and maybe one clove of garlic and garlic powder. I could refill my jar with the leftover garlic, love it. The salad was quite good and loaded with ingredients. I'm from out of town and don't always leave reviews but everyone here said I had to. Its totally worth it. Went to Dano's a few nights ago with the Mom, the place is small with a few tables and pull up seating at the counter, I saw how well rated it was and thought we'd give it a shot. Ordered a 6" greatest meatball sub and a half pine and swine and half deluxe pizza. The sun was pretty darn good but not the greatest in the world. The pizza was not bad, not awesome, they forgot to put the pineapple on the pizza(new guy) and took it back and added it and reheated, the deluxe part could have used a little more of the toppings and the crust was admittedly good. Overall it was a good place. I'd give it a 3 1/2 half stars. read more
