Doubles Beachside 1612 Hwy. A1A Satellite Beach, FL 32937 2 Stars Oh, how the mighty have fallen. When they first opened back in 1983, Doubles subs were the rage of Mel-Hi. These days, you would be considered a gudgeon if you went more than twice. The rating I gave it should probably be lower based on the items to be discussed. Perhaps nostalgia played a part in an extra star. Claudia is our server today. I found her to be extremely charming and efficient. She was the highlight of the experience. I asked Claudia for one Smash Hoagie and one Cheesesteak. Before I even get into the review, I implore you to look at the pics! Just look at them!!! First up was the Smash Hoagie. The bread was fresh and tasty, which is important in a sandwich, just as important as the filling. Speaking of which, I am fairly certain there is processed meat in there somewhere. On a personal safety note, NEVER eat the rainbow slime on Roast Beef or Grey Turkey. Ever. Other than that, it was a fine example of a Hoagie. Not. Prodding the Cheesesteak with a fork first (checking for anything off-color), I determined all at least looked fine and so proceeded to chaw off a hunk. All in all, it wasn't a bad Cheesesteak, the bread was fresh, the meat not top shelf, but not from the dregs of the food service barrel either; however, the shrooms were definitely canned. Is it really all that difficult, time-consuming, and profitable eating to slice some fresh shrooms in the morning? The Big Boy says, "Take your kids as they won't complain; otherwise, Don's Hoagies is 1000 times better than this below-average fare." PS I anticipate people screaming about how their experience was different and this is a local icon, neighborhood favorite...yadda yadda yadda. LOOK AT THE PICS

5/5 service every time! I come here literally 2x a week because I'm obsessed with the sweet potato fries and the wings. I'm so happy they are quick with the pick up orders because I can just call, drive over, and my order is ready! The drive through window is a huge time saver and is very convenient.

On behalf of the entire Brevard dining community, if you think this is acceptable to charge for, then it's time to shut it down.

A local food critic just did a thorough review of this place and it lines up with all of our experiences and I'm glad someone has spoken up from a reputable platform about it. Overpriced and underwhelming to an insulting level. The fact that they ask for hard earned money in exchange for anything on the menu here is mind blowing.

Finally stopped in to check this place out. So, after getting our waters, it took about 5+ minutes for the waitress to come back... just to take our drink order. Once she brought back the actual drinks, she asked about the food. We ordered, and the waitress never asked if any of us wanted fries with sandwiches, so 4 sandwiches came out. I nicely asked if she could send out a couple fries to go with the sandwiches. We got 2 fries about 5 minutes later. They were awesome tasting waffle fries. Half way through lunch our grand daughter started to cry (hungry), and our daughter in law was debating on breastfeeding at the table or going to the car. All of a sudden, with half our meals still there, my wife's apple cider 3/4 full, and my draft beer empty, the waitress slaps down our bill. It felt like she was trying to get us and the fussy baby out of the restaurant. She never asked if I wanted a second beer while my wife finished eating and drinking and didn't ask if we wanted a desert. I'm new to this Grandpa and baby stuff, but it felt very uninviting to be rushed out as soon as the baby cried. The only thing that saved this from a one-star was the decent prices and WONDERFUL waffle fries. Odd experience for a Saturday lunch at a "family oriented" cafe. The locals all say this place is nothing like it used to be.

Butter garlic parm wings and Philly cheesesteak sandwich.

We came at lunchtime and were seated fast, the servers were very pleasant. The memorization inside of the restaurant is nicely done and was a good time outside of the heat. The drinks and food came out quickly. The wraps and fries were delicious and the Philly cheese steak sandwich and butter garlic parm wings were also amazing. All the food was at perfect temperature. We also had the coconut chocolate truffle cheesecake and it was so good. This place is a great spot. Would definitely recommend. The bar and splash pad outside will be our next part to come experience.

Food is amazing and ample. What a great variety. The staff are on point. I feel like they went upwards and beyond to see that we didn't need to wait. Very prompt. The decorations are hand made by the staff. Love this laid back, yummy food eating spot. You will love it too.

Wings were pretty good! We got takeout!

**INITIAL REVIEW**…read more When it comes to the restaurants within Downtown Melbourne/Melbourne Main Street, I often stress that the ones on the edge of the river and/or marina are some of the best ones if you want a meal with a view. The Mansion and Chart House come to mind. The one my family wanted to go to was Ichabod's Bar & Grille. Unfortunately, its popularity exceeded its capacity and the waittime was over an hour. Ergo, we went to their sister location on Melbourne Beach, the one right across from Paradise Beach. Maybe, I was expecting a bit more as the Melbourne Beach location is the newer location meaning it had the OG to learn from, but it did not live up to that standard, at least the one I had in my head. Though an address is provided, this Ichabod's Bar & Grille - which I will shorthand simply to Ichabod's for the remainder of this review - is located as a stand-alone business right across the entrance to Paradise Beach. Ichabod's surely has that look of being a dockside restaurant despite being "landlocked," but good luck parking nearby. The parking situation has always been bad around the area. Inside, the seating is limited in which the majority of seating seems to be at the two bars. I guess Ichabod's is catering to a certain demographic pertaining to who dines inside. Outside, there are more tables for families and groups. That is where my family and I sat for our meal. Our waitress Jordanann, God bless her soul, was the only waitress working. She was running around like a chicken with their head cut off as she served everyone both inside and outside the restaurant. Despite her situation, she remained focused and kind. I definitely gave her a big tip for how hard she worked. As for the food, it was... well... okay. I always get fried fist fillets whenevere I come to a new seafood restaurant, along with crab cakes. There was shell in the crab cake, which I find to be a bit of a norm with a little piece, but there were some thoroughly recognizable pieces in my mouth when biting right in. And the fish, well... it was... okay. Not the best fish I ever had, but not bad where I would not finish it or at least take it home. Other food my family ordered includes the Mahi Sandwich, Our Burger, Shrimp Wrap, Caprese Burger, Jerk Mahi Plate, and the Jerk Shrimp Plate. Overall, the initial visit was very lacking. Though I do not fault the waitress herself, I do fault the restaurant for only having one waitress for this shift. I assume they are having a troublesome time keeping staff. I will definitely come back and give them a second chance. Can't just say Ichabod's is what they are over one visit, but for this initial visit, this is the kind of rating I would give them. If they improve over an average, i will reconsider changing the rating and updating the review.

I really wasn't keen on going to an expensive Melbourne restaurant in a former Burger King but I was convinced to try it. (Let's just say -nicely- folks down here are very "accepting" of what purports to be "good food.") Glad I went. The food was amazing and the service superb. As someone who travels to Italy over 30 days a year, my standards are extremely high when it comes to Italian. This was an amazing dish clearly made by people who care. Every item in it was cooked perfectly. My mouth is already watering for the next time. And it deserves one of my world class pictures of it and not this one but, I was here to eat it, not stylize and photograph it. One last thing: The experience would have been perfect if not for the flies, which makes me ask, Why no fans to at least help with that? And, this is Florida. It rains here. They have no provisions to deal with that if a storm passes by and you're outside. Doesn't make sense they don't invest in at least a mechanized shade so people's $200 dinner isn't ruined. Fans and shades are simple fixes and would have made for a 5 star review

The décor is beautiful, and the combination of indoor seating and large garage doors opening to a spacious outdoor patio creates a fun date-night vibe with excellent beach views. Be aware that the indoor dining area was so loud. We opted to dine al fresco. The drink menu is creative, but cocktails are on the pricey side at around $15+. I tried the seasonal margarita and was surprised by how small the glass was for the cost. To be fair, it was served without ice (just how I prefer it), which likely factored into the size. Even the water glasses seemed unusually small. Service was excellent across the board. The entire staff worked together seamlessly, but the true standout was Peter, the host. When seating guests, he offered a choice between tables, a thoughtful touch I watched him extend to everyone. Throughout the evening, he seemed to be everywhere at once, helping deliver drinks and desserts, checking restrooms and supplies, assisting staff, and ensuring guests were taken care of. The ultimate example of his attentiveness came when I accidentally left my purse behind while walking on the beach. Peter actually started heading toward the beach to make sure I got it back. His attitude, work ethic, and willingness to help in every area made a lasting impression. Food prices are also on the higher side. I wanted to sample a few items, so I ordered two appetizers: the mussels, which were plentiful, and the shrimp and crab cake. I'm very particular about crab cakes, and this one was excellent and highly recommended. The portions were filling, though next time I'll probably order an entrée since the pricing works out similarly. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his double stack smashburger, and we couldn't pass up dessert. The chocolate cake was enormous, incredibly moist, and absolutely delicious. Overall, Boardwalk Bar & Grill offers fantastic views, a great atmosphere, excellent service, and quality food. Just be prepared for premium pricing. If you're looking for a fun beachside date night with outstanding hospitality, it's definitely worth a visit.
