We had such a great experience at Tiki Café in Melbourne. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed. Shannon was our waitress and she was incredibly sweet, charismatic, and attentive. She made us feel right at home and added such a positive energy to the whole experience. I ordered the "Kahili" Rainbow Bowl and my husband had the biscuit sliders with delicious tiki bacon!!! Both dishes were flavorful and absolutely delicious. The ingredients tasted fresh and the portions were generous without being overwhelming. You could tell care went into the preparation and presentation. We both ordered the Frothy Coffee, which ended up being one of our favorite parts of the meal. It was such a unique and fun touch and made the whole breakfast feel a little more special. It was delicious and different from your typical coffee drink. Everything from the food to the service made this a memorable stop during our trip. We enjoyed it so much that we're already hoping to come back again before we fly home. Oh dear God! I must start by saying I have celiac disease, and I am acutely sensitive to any cross contamination. I thought the ahi poke bowl was absolutely excellent their poke sauce, yum, the quality of the ahi, surprisingly excellent. I went back the next day for another. Then I tried the gf waffle. Dear God, I may drive back from Orlando tomorrow for another waffle! Yes it is that good! I am in heaven! Eat here! The berri smoothie and the smoothie with OJ Are also excellent! read more

If you ever find yourself in Melbourne you must must MUST visit this restaurant. Besides having the best food, the service is also excellent. We had breakfast here. The Mr Billy sandwich is something you should have at least once in your lifetime. The breakfast bowl-AMAZING. The only problem with this place is that I can't take them home w me. read more

Pros: Ambiance was so cool. Outside was a dingy little strip mall, inside was a legit tiki bar with giant ocean murals all over the place. Very chill. Service was very nice. I think some of them were related to each other, so it was a friendly, family vibe. Food was very good! There were a lot of good items to choose from, and we had a couple of their awesome sounding sandwiches. Very quality stuff. Cons: No cons. A very good experience. Tips: If you like monte cristos, get the waffle cristo. Wow it was good. The ciabatta they use on their sandwiches is hearty, but not too tough. Don't be afraid of it. They have a habanero honey. Also don't be afraid of it. It's not too hot. It's delicious. read more

This place made it pretty high on a nationwide restaurant list recently, so when it was an option for breakfast on the morning of the start of my vacation driving down to Key West, it was a no brainer, we had to come try it out. And thank goodness we did. Talk about a diamond in the rough. The place is in a boring looking strip mall, but step inside and you're transported to an island tiki bar. It's very cool in there. Surfer murals, ocean life on the TVs, and the giant tiki bar that holds the open kitchen. Very nice vibes. The service was also full of very nice vibes. Very friendly people who were quick to point me in the right direction on the menu. Coffee refills kept coming very timely. No issues. As for the food, wow, very unexpectedly good. I had the The Waffle Cristo (ham and provolone cheese in a waffle sandwich with habanero maple syrup, dusted in powdered sugar, served with roasted potatoes). So good. Waffles made a great sandwich bread. The ooey gooey cheese, the slightly salty ham, and spice from the habanero syrup, this just all came together into an amazing little dish. I also got to sample Mr. Billy's Sandwich (scrambled eggs, tiki bacon, roasted fresh pineapple, pepper jack cheese, on a Hawaiian ciabatta roll). Unfortunately, an even better sandwich. The ciabatta was sturdy, but not dry or tough. And the tiki bacon... One of the best things I've ever eaten. Candied, or spiced, or both, thick cut, it was easily the star of the show during my visit here. You just get the tiki bacon when you come here. Overall, I'm glad I identified this place. I was very happy with my experience here, and if I'm ever anywhere near this area again, I will be coming back. read more

This place has a cool theme and the inside is unique. That being said it's very small and has limited seating, so more than likely you will be waiting. While we were eating, many people walked in, looked around and walked right back out the door. Because it's so small and there's not a lot of airflow, the smoke from the kitchen is like stagnant inside. The waffles, potatoes and bacon were good, have to go and try something else another time. The coffee tasted burned and therefore we did not finish it. read more

What an incredible little place. I get so amped when I find a restaurant with real quality food and Mel's did not disappoint. My server (I think her name was Taki?) was phenomenal. I was feeling indecisive and more or less asked her to pick something for me and it was spot on. Bowl was 10/10. Smoothie was 10/10. I got some banana bread for the road.. also 10/10. I love places like this. I wish it were closer to where I live. I'll be back whenever I'm in town. read more

This sweet cafe has been on my check it out sometime list and I regret not coming here sooner! This beachside gem is a woman owned healthy spot with booths and a tiki structure to greet the customers adjacent to the kitchen. Definitely family friendly but we met a friend for lunch after deciding we all wanted whole, freshly made items. Due to several dietary restrictions I was very happy to find items I knew I wouldn't regret later. The owner was present working alongside the staff who kept everything going smoothly. Everyone loved their food and the prices were very reasonable. Highly, highly recommend this well run restaurant that is open for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. Just check the times open as they do close for a couple of hours to transition from lunch to dinner for example. read more

Nice little place perfect for breakfast. It has a couple high top table and some booths. It is a smaller place so don't expect large tables to fit a big group. Breakfast came out quick and delicious. The server was friendly and efficient. My husband got the vegan curry it was a bit pricey for what you get but it had good flavor. I got the 2 eggs your way. The egg whites scrambled were fluffy and perfectly cooked. I also got crispy bacon which came out perfect and potatoes with a crossiant toasted. It all went together well. I was very pleased with our dishes. I was a bit bummed the banana bread wasn't ready cause that is what I really wanted. Also no smoothies were available at this time either. read more

We found this place place while being on the go and I'm glad we did. It definitely seems like a place where locals go. Our server Bridgette took care of us and was very fast pace. There is limited seating so it's possible you'll be waiting but won't be for long. It was a very tropical beach ambiance inside and even the music matched it. Stopped in for a brunch while spending NYE in Florida. Wife ordered the classic breakfast with eggs, bacon and fruit and I ordered the classic breakfast sando with eggs, ham, cheese and siracha mayo....also a side of fruit. Both of us enjoyed the food...only knock was it was a bit pricy -- with one mimosa and a Diet Coke and tip the bill was $45. But overall good breakfast...would certainly eat there again. read more

Came back to one of our favorite hotels Crown Plaza for a great beach break. Mel's Tiki Cafe was exactly how we remembered. Great vibe, great decor, perfect service, generous portions, incredibly inventive menu and most importantly delicious food. Brekky Sliders for me and Brekky Breakfast Sandwich for my wife. Beautiful chill spot in Melbourne, stopped here a while back for some breakfast with my family, first time ever going and the atmosphere felt so warm as soon as you walk in it smells of waffles and fresh food, seating is comfy with adorable colored pictures everywhere I'm guessing from the customers, I got the berry waffles, they were so delicious. Perfect amount of sweetness from the waffle and the berries add the perfect tartness, all fresh berries. My son was very small at the time so I politely asked to order something off the menu for him and they were so pleased to help with an easier meal to make for him to eat. So happy we found that place that day and recommend to friends all the time for breakfast for brunch. read more

Most outstanding service -maybe ever. Shannon listened to our preferences, understood them (it can be surprising how many food servers don't) and incorporated them into her recommendations. She was also friendly, helpful and attentive. Food was also great - and they are definitely a go-to vegan spot. Tofu and avocado options abound, vegan siracha mayo and other thoughtful options. Always a a delicious meal at Mel's!! Breakfast, lunch or dinner, I've never been disappointed by a meal at Mel's Tiki. Their Waffle Cristo is a favorite, as is their Sunset Salmon that the serve with the most delicious coconut curry and rice. The Tiki Tuna Tartar is also a treat, but The Foz is really is fantastic. I'm so very grateful for Mel and her staff, and for the wonderful meals they provide. My wife is vegetarian, and she is equally pleased with the options available. I can't say enough about how much we appreciate Mel's Tiki!! read more

Mel's Tiki Cafe is a hidden gem in a small strip mall. We would've never come across it. Had it not been for yelp. With only about eight tables, this small and quaint restaurant had wonderful ambience and exceptional food. I had a bacon egg and cheese that was delicious and not greasy (major bonus!). my husband had a waffle with berries that was exceptional. We also got some breakfast potatoes that were great. I highly recommend this spot for breakfast or brunch. read more

We went on a Saturday between 8-9 and it was perfect timing before more people starting rolling in. We ordered the frothy coffee with pumpkin & cinnamon - it was delicious! I ordered the waffle with banana, PB, & granola - it was so good & you don't need syrup. My husband ordered the big breakfast with a little bit of everything. The bacon was cooked to perfection. We walked in shortly after opening and were able to sit down immediately. The servers who helped us were so kind, attentive, and patient when we were deciding what to eat! My husband and I each ordered the classic sandwich with different meat choices. They were amazing! I had roasted potatoes and he had the Shaka tatoes. Everything was wonderful! Been hearing about this place for quite a while. Go to other places in the plaza all the time. Finally made the plunge. The place is small so expect a wait. however, you can wander around and get a text when your table is ready...but be quick or they move on to the next one from what I observed. Arrived at the end of the morning rush and waited twice as long as they said. I know they aren't hurrying people up but the wait was long. The interior is beachy and their A/C was struggling. It was smokey inside and no amount of the A/C and floor fan would help. Maybe their smoke hood was down (can you be open?) regardless we endured. I had the poke bowl. It was pretty good but it is not Hawaii and the portions of the star of the bowl Da' Tuna BRA was not large. The bowl was tasty what was there and they do offer build-your-own options. I snapped a pic of the slip you fill out. My wife had the sliders. They were underwhelming but the tiki bacon was good she said. Now the food came out quickly and I spied the breakfast sandwich and it was pretty big. ProTip - make sure you keep your receipt in case the predatory towing service gets you. Summertime and parking is at a premium. read more

They have it all: carrots, mango, seaweed salad, edamame, watermelon radish, ginger, cucumber, green onion and so much more. Lastly you can pick a crunchy topping like onion flakes or wonton chips. For premium toppings they have things like guacamole or orange tobiko. For drinks they have Stubborn soda and teas. I love Kona and am patiently waiting for a Merrit Island, Cocoa or Viera location. Staff is always friendly and they offer you a free bottle of water while you wait. They also make boba. And they have daily specials. We especially like the brown sugar boba. And it is BOGO boba on Thursdays for that flavor. The outdoor seating gets a little noisy with the road so close to the counter.
