They don't know what they're doing and Dan does not keep his word!!! I paid for a service that was not done properly. So, I had to take my car to another mechanic to finish what Dan started. Once my car was properly fixed, I went back there and asked Dan for a parcial refund that was denied. The mechanics that work with him treat you nicely, and are polite, but Dan himself is very rude and yell at costumers (he yelled at me.) One of my coworkers- who is an old lady- took her car there and he changed parts of her car without her consent and in the end she had to pay for a service she hadn't previously agreed to. The day I left my car there for repair, Dan was having an issue with an old lady about her tires. I should have taken that as sign not to leave my car there, I regret not listening to that little voice of reason in my head. If you are elder be careful because they will take advantage of you. They toke advantage of me and charged a lot of money for something they did not even fix. I was so upset. My sister mentioned Dan's place from her neighborhood app. So I called. So, I came to Dan for not only my vehicle, but my brothers vehicle as well over the last 6 months, or so. My vehicle being a '91 Toyota Camry needed work done on it, and Dan fixed it up very nicely, nice enough for me to feel good about selling it. I kept it in good condition, however wear, and tear are things you can't easily keep from occurring. 70,000 miles on a '91, it's a deal that can't be beat, lol. Anywho, the real crazy repair job was my brothers vehicle, which is an '08 Trail Blazer, and my dad had taken it to Midas, and various other auto shops. Midas charged us over $700 to "repair" my brothers truck, everywhere else had quoted us for well over $900 to fix it while barely touching it to check. So, my dad had wasted $700 to fix it, and it was still doing the rumbling, and whatnot that was going on. My brother was tired of trying all of my dads "Good Friends" that he had made from the Margate Chamber of commerce, turned out they were willing to screw over everyone, and anyone. So, I bring my brothers Trail Blazer to our neighborhood auto super hero Dan. I brought the keys to Dan, said there was something wrong with the engine, and how it drove, he said to give him a few hours, and he'll give us a call with a quote. An hour later he called, he had driven it, gave it the look over, said it would be around $300 to fix parts, and labor. Boom, runs just as well since the day we bought it. Later, and here's the better story. I had gone to the store with my brother, and as I opened the driver side door, the door panel popped off completely. Mind you this was months after our last visit to Dan. I go walking into the shop, Dan remembers my name, and what he had repaired the last time we spoke, few shops even remember that you were a previous customer, let alone your name. Dan takes a look, said he'd see if he can get the parts to replace it, as many of the structural integrity had been compromised by a previous owners attempt at fixing the problem. So, it literally takes him a week because Chevy no longer makes the door panel for this truck, so he had to call Junk yards, and various auto repair places across the country to get the necessary parts, and even then he still couldn't get everything because production was over for this truck completely. So, instead of using screws, Dan uses rivets. A very professional looking repair job on the parts he could find, to make the door look as well as it can, and be fully structurally sound. The man did a fine job, scoured the country for parts he wasn't sure he would find, and only charged me for parts, and labor. Dan is the most reasonable, kind, and honestly one of the best auto mechanics I have ever met. I wish that when I move across the country in a few years, that I could take Dan with me, however the best I can settle for is finding someone almost as amazing as this wonderful man. After speaking with him in the phone, I brought the car to him to have it inspected. Dan dropped everything that he was doing and inspected the car. I love the little mom and pop shops! While I was out getting a gift for a birthday today I noticed that one of my head lights was out. I didn't really know what to do but I knew close by my house was Dan's auto repair. I had seen it many times passing by while I was driving and decided I couldn't fix the light myself so I came in. Also have a big thank you going out to Joe who took out my light And replaced it for a mere $10. Maybe I could have done it myself but I really didn't feel confident enough until Joe showed me exactly what to do-and I let him have the honor of replacing my headlight bulb. Joseph is great guy working hard with a smile on his face and a good attitude. Dan is a great guy. He has always been honest. I came to him after another mechanic told me my car needed the rear end rebuilt for $1000. I took it to Dan for a second opinion and he replaced a $15 seal that was leaking and I was all done. I go to him for everything now, even oil changes. Always heard good things about Dan. I put my full trust in him. He was closed one day and I took my car elsewhere. They were unable to figure out the problem. When Dan was open I went to him. He was booked for the next 2 days so I waited and made an appointment. He told me what he recommended to fix my problem so I ok'd it. I asked him to check the fuel pump/filter and he refused. After completing the work he said I shouldnt have any more problems.Less than a half hour later the car broke down and still had the same problem. I called back Dan. he told me to wait 20 minutes and try to start the car again, and call him back. when I did, the car still didnt start, and someone else answered the phone and said Dan was busy, and said to bring the car back tomorrow or have it towed in. I was left stranded for over 5 hours with my car which was supposedly fixed. and paid $120 for nothing really that I couldnt of done myself for less than $20. My opinion is that I dont doubt Dan is a skilled and ok guy, but I doubt his devotion to his trade and doubt he will be in business for too much longer. Thanks for nothing. read more
