Dan's Fan City lied about the coverage of their products. Before I purchased five fans from them, I was told that the interior fans had a lifetime warranty and the exterior fans for thirty years. I questioned the salesman about the exterior fans, if they were powder coated or just painted, he informed me that they were powder coated. After six months they started to rust, I called Dan's Fan and Gulf Coast Fans, Inc. Gulf Coast Fans and Dan's Fan are one operation. Gulf Coast manufactures the fans and Dan's Fan retails them. After many conversations they sent me parts that needed to be assembled. First the existing fans (2) had to have parts removed and disassembled and then reassembled before reattachment to the main body of the fan units. Taking them down and putting them back up would require many, many hours. Dan's Fan store management stated to me that they will not do the work. This was for their defective product; I'm guessing that this will coast over $500.00 to complete. They are the manufacture; they can send them out from their factory already assembled. Then send over one employee to attach them to the fans, this would take at most 1 hour. If I cannot get this resolved, I will take them to small claims court! When you call first, they say he's busy and will call you back as soon as he is freed up. NO CALL Next is he's not in today. Do these stories sound familiar? Bad way to do business!! Peter read more

Dan's Fan City is located in the shopping center at the corner of Colonial Drive and Semoran blvd/SR 436. We shopped here 5 years ago when we needed some high power fans for our house and outside porch area, along with some rheostats for some of our "tricky" wiring. Since we were installing 9 ceiling fans, 2 on a large vaulted ceiling, we used their recommended contractor for installation, who was a master electrician who ended up solving several other (non fan/lighting) electrical issues that the previous Bob Villa-NOT owner caused. He was wonderful and the fans are still going strong, our porch fan could blow you away, it's awesome! My folks recently had a challenge with the installation of their new and current fans in their new home. All of the fans were making the WORST (very loud) buzzing noise on every speed setting, it sounded like the motor was really struggling. Hubs and I deduced it was an amp issue with the cheap push button rheostats that were already there and after 3 trips to Home Depot trying various makes and models of fancier/expensive rheostats with no success, I remembered Dan's Fan City had solved our own problems so I headed over. Neil, the manager, was as awesome this trip as he was when were were making a major fan purchase. I explained the problem and he confirmed that we were indeed having an amp issue. Neil suggested going with a higher 5 amp rheostat, so I picked up 3 and was on my way. Same price as Home Depot, but a much better product. We installed the 3 rheostats without issue and, YAY, no awful buzzing! We have thrilled parents and give a BIG THANK YOU to Neil and Dan's Fan City. Our TV room has a high ceiling, and the lighting kit that matches the fan we purchased was simply not going to cut it. We looked around online and could not figure out what we wanted to buy. On a whim, we decided to visit Dan's. The gentleman who helped us knew the shop inventory backwards and forwards and was able to point us in the right direction immediately. We spent hours deliberating at home with no solution; he gave us exactly what we needed and had us out the door within a matter of ten minutes. The lighting kit looks like it was supposed to come with the fan, it matches so perfectly, and the amount of illumination/ wattage of the bulbs was exactly what we needed. It may have cost more, but the amount of time and effort saved and the fact that we got exactly what we needed totally made the expense worth it. I highly recommend this place. read more

NOT PLEASED..... I Ordered 4 fans from Dan's Fan City, the web site gives several options for White, so I called to discuss. After our conversation the decision was made to order White - as it is called. I ordered White for all my fans, but when they arrived, the color is not really white..... the tent to the so called WHITE is actually yellow, like an antique white which was not conveyed to me on the phone. Had I been notified it would be similar to an Antique White I would not have chosen these. After a call back to discuss this problem, they informed me that because I selected White I would have to pay to have then shipped back myself !! Ugh!! Then upon arrival at the Fed Exp office, I was informed the packaging for one of the boxes was not up to Fed Exp standards so I would have to re-package it - again at my cost !
