Finding someone to provide a great haircut at an affordable price today is nearly impossible! I've gone the route of chain haircut businesses, "old school" barbers, home-based providers, etc. all with disappointing results. If you are lucky to find someone you like they inevitably move on resulting in a new,frustrating search! I found Dan's Place on a Yelp search and got an appointment the next day! All an all around amazing shop. The barber here is very friendly and a great barber, I looked like a million bucks for over a month afterwards. Also a great and comfortable environment. What I don't like is the difficulty in getting an appointment, and this place is by appointment only. The online system will only schedule appointments at least five days out. If you try and check for availability any sooner than that it fails without any explanation. Calling the location to make an appointment by phone also seems to a dead end. I just walk in and ask to make an appointment directly when I'm in the neighborhood. Otherwise, a great haircut or a shave at this place. read more

I discovered Dan's Place while looking for a barber for a beard trim and wow, he provides fantastic service! I can only speak of a beard trim at this point, but he did an incredible job of shaping and trimming up my beard. Dan listened as I tried to explain what I hoped for him to do, and then he did it! His barber shop is comfortable, neat and clean, and with his laid back attitude he is very pleasant and super easy to talk to. I highly recommend Dan for facial hair maintenance. I have been meaning to write a review for a little while, sorry I haven't done that. My boys got their hair cut at Coal Creek Barbers for the first time a few months ago (my first time coming in with them today.) They are a little picky as am I so when they came home after seeing Mike and Dan I absolutely loved the attention to detail they both used. I haven't taken them as often as I need to but today was their 3rd time coming in. I had made an appointment with Mike even though I think they all do a great job, Mike came to mind. I suffer from severe migraines and deal with this because I have had to for a long time, it has become a part of me so when I went in today Dan was very observant and helped out as much as he could to keep me comfortable while my kids got their hair cut, which meant so much to me. Mike did an great job, as always, and they were all so nice. I decided months ago that I wouldn't go anywhere else again but more so now. To see the compassion and kindness these guys have for their customers really goes to show why so many people keep coming here. Thanks guys! read more

Great haircut, great service! We had a miserable experience last week at two other "barbers" trying to get our autistic son groomed for pictures (haircut and a shave - he was looking way too much like an 18-year-old Grizzly Adams). Floyd's was completely unhelpful about when someone who COULD shave our son would actually be in, and Louie's Barbershop in Broomfield actually LAUGHED at my wife and told her that nobody does barber shaves anymore (this was after telling me over the phone that they could take care of my son). In the end, we actually ended up rescheduling the photographer because we were so frustrated. Coal Creek Barbers was a great experience - everything a barber shop should be! I called on Monday to see if we needed an appointment for 10:30 this morning, and was told that there wouldn't be any significant wait - this actually translated to "walk in and get served" - no wait at all! My son got a haircut, and his facial hair was clippered, straight-razored, then cleaned up with a bic. They even mowed down his unibrow...all for $18. Dan had no problem working with an autistic, and was able to get my son to position his head and his face correctly for the best haircut and shave. In the meantime, Mike did a great job trimming up my goatee (and knocking my bushy brows into submission) for just $5. Five stars, highly recommended! If you're looking for a "stylist" or "cosmetologist", this might not be it (or it might be - I didn't check), but if you want a great haircut and a true "barber shop" experience with barbers who know how to treat their customers, you can't beat Coal Creek! read more

I'll start by saying that I haven't been with a consistent barber for about 3 years or so now. I have searched and searched for a decent barbershop but always leave feeling disappointed in haircut and service. I haven't given a single barbershop more than two visits and it has grown very frustrating that I can never seem to find a decent barber. I decided to check out Dan's place, the atmosphere is great. Actually feels like a barbershop instead of some sports bar or children's play palace. Dan was very welcoming and we held conversation the entire time. Very outgoing friendly individual, easy to get along with. Also able to have a deeper conversation than just what games were on over the past week. That is very refreshing. But the biggest factor of why I will be returning to Dan's Place is that I have never had such a solid haircut. He did exactly as I asked, was very particular, and not only was the length on top perfect but he also knew how to actually blend the fade into the long hair! None of that choppy no blending crap, this dude can cut the hell out of some hair. 10/10 would recommend and I can state for a fact that you will not find a better barbershop in Northern Colorado. read more

There are no frills and it's not about some silly "hipness" that Floyds or other shops reach for, or some scantly clad girl who can barely hold her scissors. I have been getting my hair cut here for a few years, and this place is a quintessential barber shop. The prices are as low as any other shop, and the folks who work in it (Dan, the owner, in particular) are extremely kind and will remember you. The hair cuts are great and thorough! I've gone elsewhere, and had my head left looking like a five year old got to it, but this place has always been consistent. The wait times can be quite large for Dan, but you can schedule an appointment from 7-9 am Tuesday through Saturday. read more

Went this morning for the first time & got a great haircut. My wife had me going to a Saloon and it was an ok cut but it was $30. Dan cut my hair and gave me a neck shave for $15!! He also takes appointments, which is great. I used to go to another barbershop up North which gave a great cut but you would have to wait forever. Meh is right. I will say I went in as a walk in customer at 10:50AM, and Dan (the owner?) told me that the walk in customer barber comes in at 11, and might be late. She finally showed up at 11:30. I thought it might be worth it due to the five star reviews this place has been getting so I toughed it out. She was flustered, and seemed rushed when we were talking about my cut. I told her it was a couple of months since my last cut, and I wanted tight on the sides and longer on the top. I ended up with a mostly uniform cut, and overall not too happy with it. I will go back, and the next time I will call ahead and on Dan's book since I had 40 minutes to observe his work while I was waiting on Kim to show up. Please note that the barbers that take walk in customers only accept cash or a check. Happily there is a ATM at the bank a couple doors down. read more

I have been to plenty of hoity-toity salons all over Los Angeles and San Diego, but sometimes you don't have $80 to drop on a wash, cut & blow dry. I have very long virgin (never colored) hair and just simply wanted my split ends cleaned up and my layers freshened. Dan did exactly that, he took off no more than I asked, was s pleasant as can be and did a great job trimming my hair, all for a very very reasonable price. I needed a barber to tame my 4-month old wild Corona beard. I looked at the reviews for every barber in Boulder and Weld counties and picked a couple to contact. I contacted Dan's Place by email and got exactly the type of response I had hoped for. Dan's Place was the clear winner on paper, so I scheduled a beard trim. Dan really exceeded my expectations. He helped me understand what my specific beard could and could not do and suggested a trim that met my requests for the type of style I was interested in. The results were exceptional (my wife agrees). Although Dan's expertise in suggesting what to do and his ability to execute on that advise is enough for an unqualified "best in class" review, the time I spent in his chair was really enjoyable. Dan seems like a renaissance man. I would gladly have sat in his chair under any circumstances to get the beard trim that I received, but the fact that he was enjoyable to talk to was a real extra benefit. read more

This place is excellent. You can call for an appointment, which is especially a good idea on the weekends. It's a nice option in general to avoid waiting, and it's unusual for a barbershop. They'll also get you in as soon as possible as a walk-in. Dan and his associates do a great job in listening to what you want done and making it look great.
