So far I have never had a bad experience here and I hope to never really start lol. Although my hair cuts are pretty simple as I just get a buzz, from observing others and the rest of the staff I can say that they seem to want to give people what they want and take the time to ask questions about how they are feeling about the progression of their styling or cuts. Being either a walk in or from an appointment, I have never really had to wait longer than about 20 minutes from time in which is pretty good I think. The prices as far as I think are pretty decent as well with easy ways to pay and tip which is nice, as I don't need cash as older barbershops tend to deal in. My only real complaint which is more of an observation, is that the young girls tending to the front desk just really dont seem to care all that much and just kind of space out playing on their phones instead of paying attention to what else might be going on. I can't really fault them being an assumed minimum wage reception job without a whole lot of responsibility, but a little personality every now and then goes a long way as they are the first person someone deals with. The rest of the staff being the stylist and barbers are all really nice and friendly and strike up conversations as you're going on and even care enough to remember the last conversation you had when you were in before which is kind of nice being able to form at least a small bond with them. read more

This is a reminder that 11 years ago a woman at this place cut 5 to 7 inches off my hair, refusing to listen to me when I asked for just 2 inches off my simple Bob. The woman continued to work there after essentially assaulting me. The management didn't care, no one cared. The word trauma is thrown around a lot these days, but this has traumatized me. No. 3 on the sides and a finger on top. Forgive me for writing in coiffure-speak, but I'm really not trying to show off my superior parlor knowledge. The 3 on the sides (and back) scalps me to the right uniform length - you can hardly go wrong with electric shears even in the hands of an orangutan. And that's what you sometimes get at Floyds in Longmont, although generally affable creatures with fairly clean nose-picking length finger nails. The problem concerns the "finger on top." This assumes a standard finger and, unfortunately, this is where some variability destroys expectations of consistency. To put it simply, some of the gals have chubby fingers, and a haircut that should last 5 weeks barely makes it past 21 days. At $35 a clip that makes it an expensive outlay. I guess my mistake is when making an online booking. From the drop-down box I select "Anyone" in order to maximize booking options. I should really learn my lesson. My last 3 visits have left me with the chubbiest bunnies of all and I swear one of them had fingers as thick as my thighs. Since Covid it's been quite pleasant inside and even the music doesn't blare as much as it used to. If you listen carefully you can hear hairy legs scratching against the inside of fully stretched spandex leggings and if you are unfortunate enough to get a big girl wearing a short t-shirt you get a brief glimpse that only serves as a reminder to change from winter to summer tires while the roads are still warm. And talking of warm, the brush of midriff against an arm or shoulder raises one's temperature a few degrees (sometimes through friction) and thankfully, most of the waddlers seem to smear themselves with camouflaged (aka perfumed) product, and this takes the edge off distracting and somewhat pungent odor. But my biggest beef (apart from Caroline, that is) is that coiffures persist in talking to me, despite sending very clear signals that this isn't wanted. I don't want to disclose what (or who) I did last weekend and certainly not the up coming weekend. No, today isn't going well, and No, I don't have any interesting plans. And before the question about whether I have seen any decent movies reverberates fully around my auditory system (the last movie I saw had The Lion King as a trailer) I generally look at my watch expecting this whole ordeal to take no more than 8 minutes. If it stretches to 10 minutes it's agony. But of all the places I could go to get my haircut, Floyds in Longmont is likely the best. I can generally be anti-social and uncommunicative in a way that doesn't insult the impenetrable, partially developed brains on display, and the people are nice in an undemanding way. It's a place there the question "What are you reading?", can genuinely be met with the answer "I only like books with lots of picture in them" and have nods of enthusiastic agreement. I do confess, though, that on my last "silent" visit, I was almost encouraged to ask a question myself when I saw photos of possibly the ugliest child I have ever seen, plastered all over the "toolbox" on the shelf near the mirror. "What is that?", I asked. "Oh, that's my boy," she said. "Did you ever get round to naming him?" I regretted it as she rattled on for at least a minute about what a little monkey he is. On that point, my guess was accurate. The coup de grace at the end of every visit, is whether I would like a shoulder massage. I have to tell you that it's not just my recent recovery from spine surgery that leads to me declining such a treat. It's just that the electric massager screaming in the tight grip of those pneumatic fingers, would bring tears to my eyes. My slowest experience has been 9 minutes, my best just short of 7. As long as it stays that way I'll keep going, although next time I'll pick Joanne. She has skinny fingers ensuring my next visit will be in 5 weeks and not 3. If Joanne can beat 7 minutes this could be the very best hairdresser on earth. read more

You all let me walk out with a huge bald spot on the back of my head. it's not at all that I expect people to be perfect all the time or even ever. but it would be nice if they could own their mistakes in the moment when I'm the one who has to wear your mistake now everyday. I don't know why a little honesty is so hard. especially when I've been a consistent and i think not demanding customer and always leave a fat tip. I've been coming here for 10+ years. There are some really good barbers here and some not so good ones so you need to book an appointment with one that you like. But now they require a credit card on file to book an appointment. I've had too many of my "saved" credit cards ripped off to give it to them. They say it's to prevent cancellations but it's really for Big Data - so they can track your purchases and sell your info. There are other ways to prevent no-shows. There are lots of other places that don't require a credit card to book - I'm going there for now on. read more

She also asked I quote; "Who did this"? Even she didn't approve. We made appointments for both my husband and teenage son at 6:30. My husband was taken at that time. But we were left waiting until he was finished. During that time, many employees were standing behind the register area having a grand old time. But were apparently too busy to help. I went in for a consultation on 9/1/21 with Kristopher asking for something I found on Pinterest. He gave me different options and I told him what I wanted. We agreed on the look and I was scheduled 2 days later. To give you a visual, my hair already had a caramel bayalage. Which grew out and it was very long. I have been going to the same stylist here for almost a year to get my beard trimmed. Last week, I went in for my usual. She destroyed it. She mentioned that it was back to school week and they had been slammed. I noticed she was going faster than usual. It was totally uneven when I left, and she had cut a whole section of it short, while the rest of it is fairly long. I really wish Floyd's was a better option. I only go there when I can't make the hours Elite Barber Shop is open. Floyd's is more expensive, they don't take their time, they don't consistently do the "free" massage, and there is not enough attention to detail. I have tried 6 different people at Floyd's and still haven't found someone I'm happy with. On my recent trip, they didn't brush off the cut hair from my face or neck and pushed products on me. I was leaning on 3 stars but the more I look at it, the more disappointed I am, one side is really good and I love it but the other side is "faded" way too high and looks like she just buzzed the left side of my head. I went in for a "skin fade" and left with disappointment. Usually Nayeli (I believe her name is) takes great care of me and evens everything out perfect but she wasn't available so I booker with someone new. If you're looking for a good, reliable, EVEN fade haircut go to creative minds barber shop. I hope my hair grows out fast so this can be fixed. I had a horrible experience here. They should have a sign that says whites only as you walk in. I walk in because they have a sign that say walk ins welcome. After sitting for an hour and watching as walk-in after walk-in is being tended to. They call me up. I'm bald so it's obvious that they will be working on my beard and mustache but after I've been seated the gentleman says he's not qualified to do beards and mustaches. He asks me to wait and after a few moments he returns and says that I need to make an appointment after 8 in the evening. I had one haircut here that wasOK and the second was a disaster. The woman who cut my hair the second time was clearly angry about something. Pissed at her husband maybe. Didn't say hello, just what do you want. She was incredibly rough with the clippers and must have used a clipper lower than what I wanted. She also moved my head around roughly. In a discouraging way that gives me the impression that the last thing they want is another customer. Haircuts have been good which is why I return. I've had 50 years of haircuts, so I've seen a variety of salons and cuts. Friendly folks when you walk in, though the music is extremely loud, and most everyone is compensating by being in their own world. Katie first noted that my hair felt dry to her, but trimmed my hair while expressing confusion as to how to cut it. I tried to help her with what I've seen people do in the past, but she still seemed mystified. I told her I was going to an interview. She used no shampoo, no spritzing for shape, and merely did the tiniest trim on only pieces of my hair, so it felt quite incomplete and looked shaggy and uneven....and dry. I asked for a mirror and she handed me a very smudged one that was covered in wax, that I could not see into.... just a lack of interest in everyone, lack of vibrancy in the place. First off I want to say I didn't get my haircut here. The receptionist put my name on a list and told me to wait 30 minutes. 30 mins later I am still not getting my haircut. I address my place in line and they notice someone marked my name out on the list. So even after waiting 30 minutes on their mess up they were going to make me wait for two other people who came in after me. So I ended up walking out. The reception of the employees was very poor. They acted like they hated their job. In my opinion for a high priced hair cut I would go else where because of the service of the employees. We took our 2 1/2 year old here for a haircut. The loud music, the rock n roll posters, and widescreen TVs all contributed to a "funky" experience. I understand they don't specialize in kids cuts however what happened to us is far from a stellar visit. The stylist had a bit of an attitude. Maybe she doesn't like kids? Too bad, Sister. The woman put our toddler on a booster and repeatedly tried to put the cape around him. He didn't want it and we didn't care if he got hair on him. It's fine, we will wash his clothes, shake them off when we get outside. The stylist insists on putting it on him. He freaks out. We pick our battles in our home and a little hair on our clothes won't kill us. It's no big deal, hair dresser lady, just cut his hair. She looks at my husband and asks how we want his hair cut. He says, "whatever you think will look nice." She looks at our boy for a bit then just starts to buzz his hair off. Too late to complain, it's already gone. She finishes, looks at my bald, shaved head husband and says, "Would you like a haircut?" Through a tight jaw, he says no. Up to the counter they go. She says, "$16 for a kids cut." You buzzed his hair off, you dippy lady. You think you deserve $16 and expecting a tip? Here's your money and peace out. We will never visit your place of business again. read more

I had come in a few days ago and asked to get a healthy cut that had some fun chunky layers that will play well with my natural curly hair (my hair was straight at this time and below the middle of my back!!). She starts doing her thing and when she finished it wasn't the way I wanted. Though the way she was talking to me made me feel like I couldn't say anything. I went home and washed it thinking maybe when it drys and curls it will look better. It didn't. So I went back and explained nicely that this wasn't what I really wanted and if I could get another hair cut. They were more than happy to help me. A different lady starts to cut my hair more of the way I want but not exsactly. She offers some texture and I agree. She then turns me away from the mirror (never letting anyone do that again!) and proceed to texture my hair but then she didn't stop and just kept hacking at my hair. She showed me my hair and my heart sank in shock of what my hair looked like. I quickly got out of there and rushed home. I had work in three hours so I figured maybe if I straighten it, it will look better. Well I was wrong again. It looked like I had emo scene hair with a MULET!! My layers were a triangle! I franticly started call different salons and found "on the avenue" where I cried to them asking to CUT my hair to my COLLAR BONE!! I just lost 2 years of trying to grow my hair out!! Thankfully the lady's down at on the avenue helped me out and fixed it. I am still in shock, the fact that all I wanted was some fun chunky layers and at the end of the day I had to cut away my hair!! read more
