Worst potential customer service ever. I've called 4 times, left 4 messages and still no acknowledgement for planning a wedding in the future. The receptionist continues taking my information down about our wedding plans says the same information about relaying to a wedding coordinator to get back to us. How do you all not acknowledge future patrons and miss that mark 4 times? How do you ignore customers? My wife and I renewed our vows after 20 years here in Sept 2024. This place is absolutely beautiful and offers a lot in their packages. When my wife originally called and spoke to Kimberly, she asked my wife several questions such as the type of event, how many people would attend, and dates we were thinking about throwing the event on. She stated she would send an email with quotes on the information given. When my wife did not hear back for a few days she contacted the venue again and was sent an email with all the questions she had already provided information for. My wife became hesitant to go for a tour as she stated she had a feeling working with the woman on the phone (Kimberly) was not going to be a good idea. I convinced her to just take a tour, and we would go from there. When we showed up for the tour Kimberly greeted us and started the tour. The place was amazing, unlike Kimberly's attitude. It appeared she did not want to do the tour or was having a bad day. When she let us in the certain event spaces, (grooms' den, bridal suite, event/reception space) she unlocked the door and didn't provide any information about what we were looking at. Despite my wife's feelings of possibly working with Kimberly, we chose the venue. I wanted to give my wife the wedding she never had, and this place had it all. My wife expressed her frustration several times about working with Kimberly. She said she was not communicating in a timely manner, was always out of the office, which made my wife feel like our renewal would be a disaster. When my wife started reading some of the reviews that were rated 1 star, they all mentioned Kimberly's name. The stuff other people complained about was what we were experiencing. My wife and our wedding planner went for a tour so the planner could see the event space. Due to Kimberly being out of the office the tour was provided by Alexa. ALEXA WAS AMAZING!!! She took notes in our chart and was very informative on the tour. However, Kimberly was still our contact person at this time. My wife started reading reviews and the only negative reviews had mentioned what Kimberly was not doing. My wife expressed to me that what she read was what she was experiencing and no longer wanted to work with Kimberly. After calling multiple times to have someone else, preferably Alexa, roughly a month before our event we were assigned Alexa. Alexa was very professional, straight forward, and honest. She informed us that this may be stressful, but she will be in overdrive to make sure my wife's vision became a reality. When I tell you Alexa not only made the vision become a reality the day of our event was PERFECT! My wife and I were not stressed and got to enjoy celebrating our 20-year anniversary with our loved ones. The food was absolutely amazing. The staff were so attentive. Beautiful setting, The cocktail hour was amazing with delicious appetizers. The dinner was terrible. The chicken was the worse. Te beef roast was well done and dry. The veggies practically raw. At first I was enchanted by the looks of this mansion. The cottages are not bad but it is also a wedding venue, which is fine BUT seems like they cater more to their weddings than their guests staying in the cottages. We stayed over the weekend and we noticed they were setting up for a wedding. We got back around 9:30pm and there was NO parking. They have a small 4 spot parking in the back (where we parked the previous night) and so I thought that parking would be for cottage guests. Of course those parking spots were taken by wedding guests, the other option was street parking, but there was no street parking. We found one spot on the side alley when we were about to park a man from the hotel said "you cannot park there, wedding vendors are coming out this way" so basically we couldn't park there so the vendors wouldn't have to go around. He told us to park in a certain spot but we said "absolutely not!" There was a fire hydrant there. We drove around and around and finally called the front desk, she advised us that the "manager" was going to meet us out front and show us where to park. Well the same man who told us to park in front of the fire hydrant was the manager!! So we pulled up and he looked around then pointed to a parking spot across the street. We were reluctant but he basically gave us no other options. The next morning we go to the truck and it had been broken into. They shattered the glass from our back camper, stole our EZ up, emergency bag, random items we had in the back. We didn't care so much about the items stolen it was the cost of replacing the camper (which we need for our small business). What upset me the most was the day managers reaction when I told him what had happened and how his night manager told us to park there. So nonchalant and insincere!! I demanded some sort of compensation and all they could do was comp ONE night. That's nothing in comparison to the cost of a new camper. If they want people to stay in their cottages they should secure some spots for guests! It's a small place maybe 4-6 cottages. They know the area is filled with homeless you would think since their guests are staying overnight, the safety of their vehicles would be top priority. Wedding guests are leaving before midnight and leaving while there are still lots of people around. Needless to say we would not recommend this place. read more

She was very understanding of my situation and helped me to be able to use my previous funds to create a showcase for my dance company. I am forever grateful that she was able to help me to close this chapter in my life and to make something that was very painful for me into a beautiful memory. Our new favorite place in the world that hosted the best day of our life. Vizcaya is so near and dear to our hearts, not only because we got married there, but because of the experiences we had leading up to that day. We had to switch coordinators a couple times, but ended up with Taylor, who was honestly meant for this job. She was AMAZING. She got back to all of my emails so fast, was so professional and helped us navigate all our questions, changes and stresses like a pro. The day of the wedding was literal perfection. Everybody keeps telling us how "perfect"our wedding day was. I would redo our day over and over at Vizcaya, and I would recommend it to everybody. From the food, to the getting ready rooms, ceremony options, and so much more, we didn't have any complaints about all of it. The ONLY thing we will say is that the bartender seemed super backed up throughout the night, as there was a huge line the WHOLE night like it was a busy saturday night at a bar/club lol. I'm sure most couples would want their guests enjoying the party instead of waiting in line for 30 minutes for a drink!We had 130 guests who like to drink, so the only thing I'd say is the venue miiiiight need a second bartender for larger weddings (there was only one bartender the whole night!) DO NOT STAY HERE. We called repeatedly the day of check in, no one answered the phone nor returned the messages. When we tried to find the hotel location there were no signs indicating where to go and there were no lights. When we finally made it to the front door (before the end check in time) the door was locked and when we called to be let in the "employee" had no indication he actually worked there, was extremely creepy (my children were terrified), and we ended up leaving before he returned with the check in paper work, that's how creepy the situation was. I've been reaching out to the hotel to get a refund for the three nights I was supposed to stay and I still have not heard back from them. read more

My husband and I finally got married in May 2022! We started working with Vizcaya since July 2019 with Ali and booked them for Aug 2020 first. Due to Covid, we had to move our dates twice. During this time, we also had to change coordinators to Rachel, but she did such an amazing job taking us on and helping us make sure we had the wedding we wanted! I stayed in the carriage house, which is old and does not look to have been updated recently. The curtains were falling in the middle, the fridge was so loud I had to unplug it to sleep, but the mattress was comfortable. The pilloowere not Unfortunately in the morning when I went to breakfast service 22 minutes after it started, there was very little food or supplies. There were several empty dishes where food has not been replenished and there were no plates or utensils. I want knocked on the The kitchen door twice to get more supplies and ate what was left over. There was also set up happening just outside the carriage house when I got up around 7 am which was quite noisy. They were setting up for an event. This was not an ideal bed and breakfast situation, but also not a horrible experience. I probably won't be back because there are nicer accomodations in there area that I prefer, but it was cool to check out the old mansion. read more

Rachel was incredible--my bridesmaids STILL talk about how "on it" she was and how much fun she was to be around besides. She walked me through every single decision starting nearly a year out from our wedding day. Her thoroughness, attention to detail, and recommendations truly made our wedding a stunning event that was so much fun. We visited from NY to attend our Niece's wedding in September. When our entourage arrived at my niece's wedding at Vizcaya, I was amazed at how gorgeous the Villa was-in the middle of Sacramento! The Wedding Ceremony was performed by the Minister in the Rose Garden. Afterwards a short mixer then luncheon. Very Sophisticated and managed flawlessly by the Villa's team. Not once was I stressed through the entire planning process. The venue dropped the ball the weeks leading up to my wedding, unfortunately they have gone through a lot of change this past year and many details that were important to me were missed or lost by the Vizcaya team on my wedding day. It was hard to get a hold of Kimberly (coordinator) the weeks leading up to our wedding and at the end she wasn't able to be there for my rehearsal and on my wedding day. Multiple vendors notified us that they also didn't hear back from Kimberly, which was really disappointing and I had to take extra time off work to help coordinate timelines with vendors. I used only Vizcaya preferred vendors and we were told that timeline coordination was included in the fees, but even my officiant wasn't given the correct rehearsal time by the venue. My husband is the most positive man in the world and he was shocked by the lack of support and coordination we received, he spent the weeks leading up to our wedding calling/emailing vendors and following up on timelines, he also had a hard time getting a hold of Kimberly. It took me a while to finally write a review because I try to be as positive as possible about my wedding day and not let all the venue issues gets me down, but I would like to warn future brides that this venue is not as full service as they sell it to be. I completely agree with the other reviews that state that it was hard finding a coordinator to help on the day of my wedding, what hurt the most was the coordinators working that day had time to take photos and videos of my decor to post to Vizcaya's social media and to tour 4 other brides around my wedding set up but didn't check in with me until I went to go find them because we had AC issues. There was so much turnover with the coordinators that by the time my wedding day happened we were on our 5th coordinator from Vizcaya. read more

After 3 postponements, we had our wedding July 18th. I have to say it was well worth the wait. Our wedding was cancelled two weeks prior to our original date due to COVID, so the wedding was essentially paid for. My husband and I decided to elope the day of and postpone our big wedding date. Rachel was our coordinator and she was very flexible and easy to work with. She made our wedding day go so smoothly. Our guests raved about the wedding and the food was delicious! From the moment my husband and I walked into Vizcaya, we knew it was the place for us. It was even more beautiful the day of our wedding. Rachel was amazing to work with. She was very thorough and made the most of every meeting. She made every detail we had talked about and vision I had come to life that day. She was also very attentive to me the day of the wedding, checked in regularly during getting ready time, which by the way is so spacious and perfect for hair/makeup and just hanging out. She stuck to our timeline throughout the day, always made sure I had a drink in my hand and swapped out my heels for sneakers during dancing. I also give her major credit for handling our very large wedding party. I also have to add that the food was super good. I've never been a fan of wedding food, but my husband and I enjoyed it without even trying it beforehand and even our guests raved about it. I especially loved the gnocchi :) One of the other things we loved about Vizcaya is the location. We live local, as well as many of our guests, so it made transportation really easy. Getting Uber and Lyft was no problem. For our out of towners, hotel accommodations were very close by and they could even stay at the venue. My husband and I got married here in August 2022 and we cannot recommend it enough. From the moment we toured the Vizcaya we just knew this would be our wedding venue. The entire property is gorgeous and has so many picture-perfect spaces. The getting ready suites are super nice and very convenient as our whole bridal party could get ready onsite. In addition, we rented the 8 onsite bed and breakfast rooms for our bridal party which was a huge plus since many of them were from out of town. Rachel, our coordinator, is amazing and was so helpful the entire way through. She made the process of wedding planning as smooth, simple, and stress free as it could be. She was very responsive, professional, and an immense amount of help when planning. The day of our wedding, there was nothing to worry about because Rachel took care of everything. She was in contact with all of our vendors and ensured the day ran smoothly. We did use some of the Vizcaya's preferred vendors which I would highly recommend as they have worked with the team and venue before making the whole process effortless. From the moment I saw Vizcaya I knew this is where I wanted to get married. Beautiful historic location and all inclusive with the freedom to provide your own alcohol. We worked with Rachel and Taylor and both were very professional, caring and fun! I am a highly anxious person but I didn't even need to worry, everything went so smoothly. You have three planning meetings before rehearsal and the big day and Rachel was extremely responsive to our emails throughout the entire process. I was able to use some of their decor and personalize the day with my own as well. They have a list of suggested vendors who have worked with them in the past which is very helpful. We hired our DJ and photographers from this list and were extremely happy with our choices. Their food menu has a lot of options and many of our guests told us later that it was the best wedding food they've had. My bridesmaids and myself stayed at their hotel the night before which is a great option for getting ready the day and we had a great experience there as well, gorgeous, clean rooms and the staff is fantastic. My husband and I got married here in November 2019. I would consider our engagement on the "shorter" side, getting engaged in February with a wedding date of November of the same year. From the beginning upon inquiry, our coordinator, Ali, was so communicative and informative. She provided us a document of all available dates left in 2019 which helped us narrow down our wedding date. Once we selected the Vizcaya as our wedding venue and signed the contract, everything was smooth sailing ahead! There was no need for us to hire an actual wedding planner because Ali was so amazing and she met with us three separate times all leading up to our wedding day. She responded to us in such a timely manner via email, which was great for a bride like me who had a million questions. She also made sure we knew the remaining tasks to do leading up to the wedding day. The day of, Ali was so great. I trusted her 100% and she made sure I had nothing to worry about. Her day of timeline was so detailed and everything I could have thought of was spelled out with an assigned time on the timeline. We literally had nothing to think about on our wedding day, and I loved that. The venue itself is BEAUTIFUL. We fell in love with the ivy wall in the ceremony space, the patio where we had our cocktail reception, and the stained glass in the main reception hall. My husband and I received such great feedback from our guests regarding the food. We did a plated dinner and it was the best decision ever. So many of our guests kept asking if the Vizcaya had a restaurant because they wanted to go back and eat the food again. The biggest advantage is the alcohol package. The venue has a BYOB policy and they supply the bartenders. It was great if you're trying to stray away from all of those pricey drink packages a lot of other venues have. With the Vizcaya, all we had to do was purchase alcohol at Costco which saved us so much money. The bridal lounge was perfect. Since we had a Friday evening wedding, we were the only wedding scheduled that day. The venue accommodates morning and evening weddings on Saturdays and Sundays. But the advantage of having a Friday wedding, is that you're the only wedding onsite. My girls and I had an early call time with hair and makeup, and Ali was able to accommodate us. When it came to our cocktail hour and reception, everything ran so smoothly and Ali was right there guiding us on what was next, from first dance to cake cutting to bouquet toss, the list goes on and on. :) Overall, our experience with Ali and the Vizcaya was so positive and we already miss working with Ali! We were married at Vizcaya last year. I've been meaning to write an honest review for awhile but life of course gets away from us and I've had more time to reflect. Long story short, there were a handful of extremely valuable events the were cut out of our wedding because the planner/employees coordinating fell behind on the timeline from the start of the ceremony. One of the most disappointing things, is we didn't have the opportunity to do our room reveal which was marketed as a typical experience that would be granted prior to mingling with guests. We envisioned this to be one of the most intimate part of our wedding as we looked forward to the intimate photos and alone time with the room fully decorated. I'm honestly heart broken that did not happen and think about it often. We also requested our leftovers be placed in our suite to eat at the end oh the night because we were on such a time line we didn't get to finish our dinner. That didn't happen. We had to cut out the money dance, our planner did ask us, but of course felt like another unfortunate/planned part we had to remove because of time sake. I was reluctant to write this review because I genuinely liked our planner. We had a great experience with her planning the details of the wedding and she is honestly a pleasure to be around. It's hard to say what created this domino effect, and when you're paying thousands of dollars for a wedding, there are certain things that should be very intentional and happen accordingly. We had a few guests tell us their chicken was dry and by the time we received our plate the veggies were cold and chicken was short of seasoning/ I guess I'm not necessarily writing this post to complain but rather to inform. I appreciated that Vizcaya lets you provide your own alcohol and of course the venue is beautiful and we overall had a good experience despite these mishaps. read more

We had our wedding at Vizcaya in May of this year and were very excited leading up to the event. Unfortunately, our onsite coordinator dropped out the day before the wedding without any notice to us, and we found this out during our rehearsal 24 hrs before the wedding. As you can imagine, this caused a lot of stress leading up to the event and had a ripple effect that impacted the wedding day in many different ways. The team that took over did their best to play catch up and help us execute our event, but unfortunately there were a few things that really missed the mark. This was a 200 person cultural wedding with a lot of moving parts so to lose your coordinator the day before was a massive blow. One of our new coordinators was extremely stressed out during our day and was causing undue stress and panic for our wedding parties and us (bride & groom). She was telling bridesmaids to walk at the wrong time, she was late to grab the groom for the start of the wedding, and overall had a negative impact on our day. The next big area of frustration was the fact that the uplighting for the reception, was not setup so our entire reception hall had obnoxious overhead LED lighting that was incredibly bright and not at all the mood/ambiance we were hoping for. They were able to add them in eventually after we asked about them, but by the time they were added in dinner was finished and we were just starting the dancing. Our grand entrance does not look the way it should've (both in person and in our pictures) because the lighting was off. The venue itself was beautiful and there were a lot of things that went well, but these three things all definitely had a really negative impact on our day. After the wedding we were hoping to speak about what went poorly during our wedding and get some kind of refund since there were so many issues and many things where we did not get what was promised. They had one of our coordinators jump on with us to tell us they were sorry and hear us out, and then they read us a list of issues that management experienced from our side of things. This part was pretty insulting considering we had just gone through an incredibly stressful event with them and they objectively messed up in key areas, most importantly our coordinator who we had been working with for months disappeared the day before the wedding. Instead of trying to make it right they told us about the things that we did wrong. This list was ridiculous and included things like "a vendor was rude to us", "something was spilled on the floor in the reception hall", "there were extra tables we needed to setup" and "someone was smoking on the property". While I can appreciate these are inconvenient and challenges you might experience during a wedding as the venue, it was really insulting that this was brought up in contrast to the areas they fell short. It was almost as if because these things happened it balances out the fact that they messed up so badly. At the end of the call we asked to speak to management about a refund because we understood that it wasn't up to the coordinator to decide. She said she would reach out and get back to us. It's been almost 2 months since we met with her and we've followed up multiple times and gotten no response. At this point, we're not sure if we'll ever get a response so we feel like we needed to leave a review to warn other potential couples. Vizcaya has had a lot of turnover with coordinators over the last two years (we had a total of 3 before our last one cancelled the day before and we were assigned 2 new ones). They will not honor any refunds no matter how badly they mess up and impact your special day. It seems like their management cares more about profit than their customers and that could be why the staff has such high turnover. I wouldn't want to work for that type of management either. All in all we would not recommend anyone use Vizcaya for their wedding venue because of these reasons. read more

My husband and I got married here on May 23, 2021. Our day was amazing and went off without a hitch. Due to all of the COVID regulations, we were unsure if we would still be able to have our dream day, but to our surprise everything was perfect and we could not have asked for a better day! Samantha was our coordinator initially then we were switched to Ali and then back to Samantha. Samantha was awesome! She was very knowledgeable, responsive to all of our questions, and had great attention to detail. She was extremely attentive to both of us on our wedding day and made sure everything went smoothly. All of our guests loved the delicious food at Vizcaya. We highly recommend this wedding venue to couples who are looking for something all inclusive that provides food, a wedding coordinator, tables, chairs, linens, plate wear,etc. You will not be disappointed! read more

This review is long overdue! After 1 postponement, we got married on October 22, 2021. We chose to have a Great Gatsby themed wedding, and Vizcaya was the perfect venue for our theme. Vizcaya is beautiful with its romantic charm, and vintage architecture. Not only is the venue beautiful, but it has everything you need all in one place. They assign you a wedding coordinator and they have a list of preferred vendors to chose from. This made wedding planning so much easier and less stressful!! Our first coordinator was Sam. We enjoyed working with her during the beginning of our wedding planning, She was very friendly and accommodating! We were then assigned to another coordinator Taylor. She helped us with every last detail, answered all of our questions promptly, and eased our stress and anxiety during the wedding planning process. The day of the wedding went very smoothy thanks to the help of Taylor and the rest of the Vizcaya staff. We had to make a lot of seating changes because a lot of guests informed us last minute that they were not able to attend. Taylor made sure everything was taken care of and she definitely went above and beyond. We had so many compliments from guests about how much fun they had, and about how delicious the food was.
