He was notified but chose not to come to the ER. There was no other ophthalmologist available so i was unable to receive the treatment I needed, and as a result I am now blind in one eye. My reason for doing the surgery was to see the tennis ball and street signs more clearly. This has not happened. They gave me mono vision which resulted in seeing two balls. Definitely the wrong decision. I had a vitrectomy to remove floaters in the right eye and probably will need one in the left eye. Do your research and make sure they are listening to what you want. I'm a physician myself, and my and my husband's primary care physician is Dr. Patchett at Mayo…read moreClinic Thunderbird Family Medicine. If you ask around the valley, you'll likely find that many physicians select Mayo for their care, and I think that speaks highly of both the medical knowledge and the professionalism of this group. Dr. Patchett is one of those old-school PCPs who spend time with their patients; I've never felt rushed during my visits with him. He also has an additional appointment with the Department of Integrative Medicine and focuses a lot on nutrition and exercise, which is great for preventing disease before it begins. If you have any sort of musculoskeletal pain as well, he practices osteopathic medicine and does manipulations, which my layperson husband described to me as "massage stretching." If you're looking for a new primary care physician and want to focus on wellness, definitely try to get in with Dr. Patchett!
