My eyes have been watering a kind of "gooo" requiring me to wipe them several times a day. I am being treated for extreme dryness of my eyelids. I am feeling a whole lot better after two weeks. Furthermore Dr. Tozer (senior) handled BOTH of my cataracts a number of years ago, and I only use glasses for reading. I trust this practice and the doctors implicitly. read more

I waited almost an hour to be seen for a simple appointment to assess a stye on my eyelid. (It was an early morning appointment...no late afternoon back-up.) The real shock was the appearance of the office. I have gone to Tozer Eye Center for almost 20 years. It used to be a beautiful, tasteful and relaxing office....but no longer. It resembles a factory. Carpet has been replaced by vinyl flooring, upholstered seating replaced by cheap metal and vinyl chairs. The decibel level in the reception area is deafening with 15+ patients in the waiting room, all talking, with the sound bouncing off walls & floors. The sound is even worse in the exam rooms (also filled with stark hard surfaces/no carpet/no upholstery), echoing and reverberating. Not ONE of the MANY employees smiled, exhibited any personality, or uttered a pleasant word the entire time I was there---especially not the two at the front reception counter. The departure of Dr. Randall Tozer has drastically changed the aesthetics of the Eye Center. It's a shame. I wonder if the level of care has also changed? The senior Dr. Tozer was an incredible physician. He was also an astute business man who understood how important the entire patient experience is to a medical practice. I've recommended Tozer Eye Center to dozens of people over the years. I will have trouble doing that now. read more

I wanted to share that I had a GREAT experience with everything with my surgery on Thursday. My preop nurses, Ida and Brianna was awesome I had them laughing with me, they were very kind and had great personality with me and towards me. my nurse Stephanie and Dr. Ho anesthesiologist was great had me laughing I felt very relax and calm. My nurse Beverly woke me up I didn't even realize that I was done with surgery. Beverly was very kind helpful and polite towards me, and for the big Finale was when Dr. Lee came in and seen me, she shared with me that everything went well, and I was a great patient I laughed. This place is a zoo. You are just a number, not a patient. This place is badly run. They asked you to arrive early to fill paperwork but they made me wait 25 min before the technician came to get me to run the test. After, they'll tell you to wait for 5 min before the doctor gets to see me. Well make that another 25min wait on top of the initial 25 min wait. The front desk couldn't care less. They just said 'we are fully booked today. I wouldn't have given any ratings but the doctor who saw me was actually polite and professional. The selection was glasses was very limited. read more

I had been a patient for 8 years with Tozer and even purchased my eyewear through them. Not every interaction was stellar, as one time I showed to pick up new eyewear, when the office had some celebration behind the front desk. The associate who works eyewear, looked right at me, when he chose to turn and socialize/eat with fellow employees. I waited at least 5 minutes for that mediocre interaction, but I managed to overlook it, as I don't expect everyone to be perfect every time. Fast forward to now, when I missed my appointment due to a bad case of the flu. A $30 bill arrived just days later, when I called inquiring if a one-time grace period is extended (as a provider should), I was turned down. Life is full of give and take, and the reason I overlooked delays or lackluster front office interactions, but this I simply will not. I need a little more from my provider, and the prior failures related to staff and products sold coupled with this, will have me with seeking out another. Went in yesterday for Cataract Surgery, Dr Lee, And Dr Dankha were very detailed and thorough, from beginning to end, Surgery was quick and they were extremely efficient with medical history questions and reiterating details on prepping and pre- op/ post- op. I was pleased with the staff, and Dr Sorenson is always wonderful. However, I was shocked and disappointed to be charged $50 for a copy of last year's prescription ( not a new prescription), to carry 15 feet to the optical department to get prescription sun glasses. I was referred to Dr. Tozer because of his excellence with cataract surgery. My appointment was on time and everyone from reception, to the eye techs, to Dr. Tozer were so nice, treating myself and my husband with great respect and answering all my questions. I felt like I was in good hands for my surgery. Had my surgery yesterday and I can hardly tell that I HAD surgery. My vision is so much better! Already crisp and clear a day later. Minimal pain. I had my next day appointment today at the Mesa eye center and had exactly the same experience. Such nice people and Dr. Tozer did my follow-up. I was at Tozer Eye Center this morning to have an updated eye prescription. I saw Dr. Dhanka, who was just amazing! Very professional and great listener! Then I went to the Optical site to receive the updated prescription and to have a re-measurement of the PD number. This was performed by Optician, Joana Olivo. Joana is awesome! She has such a great, outgoing personality, great humor, and knows what she is doing! I was so very impressed with both Dr. Dhanka and Joana Olivo! Great visit with the optometrist, but my glasses are not right. I had a pair of Burberry frames to have glasses made. They were broken, but nothing done for me. The frames and lens I got are scratched after 5 months. read more

I went in for a routine cataract surgery. It was far from routine. The first round left me with partial vision. I was told the lens was not far enough in and I needed another surgery to place another lens on top of the first one. I also had an extensive laser treatment to that eye. The results are that my vision (I see double if I look far left) and my exposure to light are impacted. To make it more difficult, I have received numerous bills with no explanation of what they are for, eight months after my procedure. The office said they are having difficulty with their billing system. Overall, I think there must be better places in the area to get surgery. The office staff, however, were very pleasant and seemed interested in their jobs. read more

In my first visit to Tozar in January 2024, I couldn't get past the front desk. The attendant barked at me demanding insurance docs and ID. I indicated that I could not be dilated because I needed to go to work. All I needed was a new prescription. The attendant indicated that only the back office can make this decision and rudely demanded Ins/ID/CC this time. I always thought the patient was the directive in their treatment. Based on my first interaction with Tozer, I would never go there again and recommend that nobody else does. read more

First I'd like to start by saying how wonderful Tozer eye center is. I referred my mother here due to some issues that she had from a prior treatment. Her experience here has made her feel so much better! She has been suffering from chronic dry eyes and spots lingering in her eye. Honestly, if she had not not seen the wonderful doctors here, she would still be living with these issues. Emily is fantastic and has made my mom feel so comfortable. Definitely went out of her way to explain and answer all of her questions. There wasn't a question left unanswered. There are not enough words to express how great this clinic is. I Had Kevin Tozer perform my cataract surgery 10 months ago and am quite pleased with the entire surgical procedure and outcome. I still have flashes of light in both eyes as well as "floaters" but this is a possibility with having the surgery. I would give 5 stars to the surgeon and 5+ stars to Dr. Sorenson, who I have seen 3 -4 times post surgery for check-ups. She is very detailed and explains everything! But now I have to review the office staff.....if possible, I would give Negative stars! I am currently trying to make my year post surgery appointment. I went to the Tozer web page where you can request an appointment and it says you will be contacted back.....this is not so. I actually completed the on-line form three times...no reply! So I decided to send them an email and that part states I would be replied to within 24 hrs.......also did this on three different occasions....STILL NO REPLY! I called their office 3 different times, during business hours and always receive the message that everyone is busy and to leave a message and they will return the call as soon as possible. I explained while leaving my message that I am attempting to make an appointment to see Dr. Sorenson......left a message , again on three different occasions, and AGAIN......NO REPLY! I even sent a fax to the office with the same result. So decided to send Dr. Sorenson a letter via USPS and just mailed this out a couple days ago. Hoping she receives it and lets the office staff understand that they are going to cause a loss of patients as this will be my final attempt to obtain an appointment! read more

Six years ago I went to this eye clinic and my dr. was Kevin Huff, he is one of the best eye doctors I have gone to here in Arizona. He is no longer there unfortunately. My husband went to Tozer recently and was seen by Dr. Tozer, one of the sons. He was disrespectful, even the young lady assistant seemed afraid of him. That is not the kind of person I would trust with my "eyes" I want someone who takes time to make sure the RX is correct not so arrogant that he rushes through the process and doesn't seem to care if the RX is correct or not. However, I learned that none of your doctors take my secondary insurance (20%) which is Mercy Care Plan due to being disabled, and there is no cash consideration for the 20% either. I have suffered from dry eye from my PRK surgery in 2000. (PRK is photorefractive keratectomy: a type of refractive surgery to correct myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness) and astigmatism and is the predecessor to the popular LASIK procedure.) PRK can leave you with dry eye. It is a very small price to pay for being 20/20 imho but it does require management. I was having some more trouble since my recent blepharoplasty so was looking for a specialist. I researched and found Dr. Anne E. Schroeder at Tozer Eye Center and I am so glad I did. She reviewed my medical history and provided an extremely professional and knowledgeable exam. Her consultation was not rushed, was extremely thorough and thoughtful. I appreciated her attention to detail and she provided various solutions that ended up being game-changers for the better. I know there is Doctor Google and there is Doctor YouTube and this and that but never underestimate the real experience and knowledge of a legit M.D. who specializes in your situation. The father might be professional and efficient, but the son is not. He expressed extreme concern about my cardiac health, about which I have no problem. He promised to do two things, neither of which he did until I called his office 10 days later. Avoid this office! I drove my sister to her appointment, knowing she was getting her eyes dilated and would need a ride home. Before we even set foot in the door, we were being yelled at to put on masks. I don't mind wearing a mask, but there's no need to yell at customers as soon as they walk in the door. Then, she says if I don't have an appointment I have to wait outside. Again, I don't mind waiting in the car if I have to, but don't yell at me like I'm doing something wrong when I'm not. I go to wait in the car, and my sister waits to start her appointment. She then sees an older couple walk in. The woman just had eye surgery yesterday and is there for her post-op appointment. The receptionist yells at her husband that he has to wait outside. When the woman points out that she can't get around without his help and that he has a heart condition and can't wait outside in the heat, the receptionist still forces him out. Not sure why the office staff have such an attitude, but I will definitely not be recommending this office to anyone. read more
