They do well with COVID precautions but it's very crowded depending on when you go. Location is nice because it's right in town. I learned new things about how to taste spirits and they have a large selection of spirits to taste for the pro and down to those who need some flavor flave (me) in their spirits. I really liked this place. It was nice because the people that served us were the owners and took a lot of pride in their product which I appreciated. I also appreciated her taking the time to tell us more about Alexandria Bay and recommendations. We did the flight of four of their liquors. We got gin, a lemony vodka, maple whiskey, and coffee liquor. You could get two mixers if you wanted. The co-owner explained how to do a proper tasting. They have a beautiful patio and on a hot day that was cooler than the indoor area. They also have all of their products for sale. They have a cute little gift shop inside and the distillery is attached. We actually came back a couple days later to get that coffee liqueur because it was so good. read more

We LOVE the Distillery! The best place in the bay! I've been coming to the Distillery for a few years now and could not be more impressed. First of all their Vodka is by far the best in the business. We always love coming here. The staff is friendly and the drink are always great. We've never actually done a tasting and probably should... Anyway there's a nice patio to sit out on which allows dogs so that's a big plus for us. The slushies are great for a hot day, pick your flavor then pick you poison ;) All the cocktails we've gotten are good. We've tried the Old Fashioned, Hard Kick to the Head, Maple Mimosa and a dirty martini. We've never been disappointed. Great place to just stop in and grab a drink! read more

Really great distillery! We came in during an anniversary trip to the area a stopped in. We weren't disappointed. They have a nice variety of in house liquors along with a few draft beers and a large gift shop as well. The bartender/host was friendly and knowledgeable about their products and we had a really nice time. I'm not sure there's much else that can be said, but we liked the clean, inviting maritime themed vibe and would recommend it as a nice stopping point if you're in the area. read more

This place is the best!! I Purchased the Dark Island Citron vodka. There is absolutely no other vodka to compare! So smooth and delish! I left there with lots is spirits.. in more ways than one! Really enjoyed our this stop on our Alexandria bay day. Chose to stop here because it's so dog friendly both inside and out. Drinks were very cheap. When you walk in there Is a wall of slushees, you can chose to have the slushy with or without alcohol. I chose to do the strawberry daiquiri and walked over to the bar where they added whatever alcohol you like. I chose rum. My husband chose to do the liquor tasting, the one he did was 6 samples for $10, each sample is almost like the amount of a shot. He enjoyed everything he tried and the bar tender even gave him soda for mixing and chasing. They do have a pre-made cheese and meat board if you want a snack or you can bring your own. My husband even grabbed a beer from the fridge and was given a cup so he could drink while exploring the town. The bar itself is large, with bottles you can buy and other little odds and ends for purchase. Tons of outside and inside seating. We chose to sit outside, it was nice and there was music from the speakers. Even had a dog bowl with water for the canine visitors! There is also the distillery next door, where you can see into the processes of making the Booze. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting the area. Came home for the first time in 40 yrs, stopped by dark island spirts and found my favorite distillery. Most small batch are places the liquor has that "home made taste" . Not here , everything we tried was smooth and tasted great. I was able to smuggle 5 bottles to Az. I just found kind off ironic , my grandfather was a customs officer during prohibition and he would have shut the place down. But now that liqueur is again legal I say enjoy!. read more

This is a cute distilling company in Alex Bay. We came in because we saw a sign for "adult" wine Slushies that they add whiskey or vodka to (your choice). There are tons of flavors. I was between the pineapple coconut and the apple. I ended up getting the apple and mixing it with vodka. It was delish. They have tastings available too. Outdoor seating on the deck and cheese/fruit/meat plates to order if you're doing a tasting! Very cute spot. The employees are super friendly! My husband and I drove past this and thought, hmm, maybe we should stop? We are glad we did! Because of Covid, things were a little different but the staff was so friendly and accommodating. You can do liquor tastings or flights if you take them outside on the deck, and the bourbon was wonderful (says my husband) - he even bought a bottle to take home. They also have a huge assortment of non-alcoholic slushies that you can add your choice of liquor too, so good and refreshing on a hot day. Really enjoyed this place! The owners were perfectly descriptive and generous in offering spirit tastings, answering all questions we had. The offerings are all really impressive too -- I left with a bottle of the single malt Eleanor. Cocktails were unique and tasty. The owners gave us a private tour of the distillery when things slowed down and demonstrated their unique and patented approach of "music maturation," wherein they actually play music through the oak barrels to encourage interaction between the alcohol and oak -- don't quote me on the science here. Step inside and find the alcohol they distill, local wines, gourmet snacks (so you have what you need to throw a party), and small gifts. Saddle up to the bar for wine or whiskey tastings. A fun stop in Alexandria Bay! We were staying in nearby Clayton, and looking for something to do, found this place and was hooked from reading they had vodka slushies. The atmosphere is very inviting, and the bartenders/owner who served us was super friendly and knowledgeable. You can taste the different (non alcoholic) slushies, and the bartenders will tell you what they recommend mixing them with, liquor wise. My slushy did not disappoint! I got the cherry apple slushy with half regular vodka half raspberry vodka. I'll be back on our next yearly trip to the thousand islands. read more

Moved to the area last month and made my first trip to the distillery today. The owner was working the tasting room and was very pleasant to talk to as well as knowledgeable about spirits. My wife, who has never shared my enjoyment of whiskey, came with me. Before we left, she'd found two whiskeys and a whiskey-brandy blend she liked enough to want to buy a bottle of each. One of our favorite stops while in A-Bay! We've always had a wonderful experience here, plus the adult slushees and cocktails are out of this world! Mike whips us up the most delicious drinks and we love hanging in the lounge because there's games to occupy our young son. They also have beautiful and unique jewelry and giftware/drink ware. This place really impressed me last week during the unseasonably warm temps. My husband and I were late getting to A-Bay and were really craving an adult slushy. The doors were locked and Mike, who was getting in his car, could see how parched we were and automatically opened back up to make my husband and I two of the most delicious slushees we'd ever tasted (I highly recommend the strawberry lime slushy with their very own citrus vodka!). He saw our three year old son eyeing ours so he voluntarily went back in to get him a virgin slushy! Now that's customer service!!! Please make it a stop the next time you're in A-Bay. You won't regret it. You might also not remember it but that's a risk well worth taking Lol. And for my fellow martini lovers Mike also makes one of the best! read more

Visited the Distillery on our visit to Alex Bay. I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to spirits. The young gentleman that waited on us slowly walked us through the process, the differences between whiskey, scotch, brandy, etc. His recommendations were spot on. After the tasting, we had a pina colada slushee with Hard North whiskey/brandy. It was over the top! Anyone interested in tasting wine, beer or spirits must stop here.
